JULY ALMOST GONE

Good Morning, It is starting off to be a cool morning for us. It makes you think of fall instead of still summer. Can any one tell me where July has gone. It seems as though it has flown by in a quick hurry. The kids are about two weeks away from starting school. It doesn't seem like I should have a grandson a Sophomore in high school this year. He was my big helper yesterday. He got my yard mowed and then he took care of changing light bulbs and etc that I needed done in the house. He went with me to the nursing home to check on hubby. He visited with hubby while I took care of some issues. They would love it to still be summer vacation awhile longer. The hardest will be getting them to go to bed so they can be up early to catch the bus. The one new school here in town that is suppose to be finished  is questionable whether it will be done by the time school starts. They claim that it will.
Finally they are changing one of hubby's meds, they kept giving him one by increasing the dosage which was making him sick to say nothing about what it did to his blood sugar. It has been a struggle, but I finally managed to get it done. I point blank said I want it to happen. It was not right to keep giving him a medication that made him sick plus wasn't accomplishing what they wanted anyway. Just have to keep after them.
Looking forward to the weekend, it is family reunion time. It will be interesting in looking forward to see how many of my brothers and sisters will be there with our extended family. The older ones are in their 80's and some have health issues. I know all of my kids excepting one will be there. He is still working in Texas. He just travels wherever, he doesn't care as long as he is working.
The chiefs training camp is still going on in town and will for a few more days. The first preseason game is on my youngest grandsons Birthday. He isn't going to play fall baseball. Other kids on his team want to play football this fall. That is one sport that mom says no he isn't playing. They would think that he is older then he is because of his size. He is going to go back to swimming lessons I think. She wants him to be able to swim good.

We won't have a horse show until the weekend of the 17-18 of August. There isn't a lot of events for the novice level and it is not worth spending all day for only 4 events scattered through out the day. Then they have been busy taking care of other things. They are going to Worlds of Fun which the boys are looking forward to doing. I remember a couple of times that I went. They talked me into riding the medium size roller coaster. Needless to say I turned every shade of green possible and just watch them ride the rides for the rest of the day. Then I went with my kids and some of their friends. They talked me into going on a ride promising me that I wouldn't get wet. Right, they made sure that I was soaked.
I have some errands to run today so, I better get started. I need to check and see how things are going at the nursing home also. You all have a good day and I will be visiting as I can. I do really appreciate you all stopping by my blog. Take care.

Cool Air come Back

Can all of our hot weather be because the Chief's training camp came to town? There is no guarantee that they will be back with this is the last year of their contract. They are talking about having their own facility. At the utmost, they only have to renew it for a year.  Most of the things that you can go watch are of the morning. They did have family day this last Saturday, but when I think of what they charged. I know that we have a lot of travelers here in our city.
I have been home today. They brought my mower back this afternoon so now I don't have to rely on someone else for the use of their mower. I just have to pickup my grandson and bring him to my house. He can use it. He will have to get use to it because theirs is a zero turn and mine is not. I am just glad to finally have it home. I can even use it myself.
I got the picture of my grandson showing off his trophy. It is a better picture then the one that I took and he couldn't be prouder. They have taken a few weekends off from showing horses. Partially because of heat and partially because of the shows being rained out. The way it is going they may be showing in October. The next one coming up is the 2nd of August. I don't think they are going. It has been taken over by another organization and is just not the same as it use to be.
I thought I would show you one of my latest tea towels. I have finished three that went to new homes and I have another one that I am going to make into a small table runner. The border on the tea towel will really work for what she wants.
I have spent several days at the nursing home. It gets to be so frustrating at times. Sometimes I think they are just giving me lip service, I don't go away. I can be like a bad penny, but I don't like to do that. It doesn't make me feel good. I am not that kind of a person. I just want them to listen to what I am telling them.
I hope you all are managing the heat that we are having. I thought maybe we would get a little rain yesterday, but we only had a few sprinkles nothing to amount to anything. I was hoping for some more in the 70's and low 80's. If you have to be out in the heat, please be careful.
Vehicles can get terribly hot when they sit in the sun. I found that out when I got a set of keys out of the compartment in car to open the garage. It was hot enough you could almost burn your hand. I knew it got hot, but that was really hot. I wonder if I could fry eggs on the concrete.
Enough rambling and I hope you all have a good week. Take care and stay cool.

Heat is Here

Summer has arrived with the hot humid weather. It is suppose to cool off a little, but it remains to be seen.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the Kansas Chief's being in town for training camp at our college. I am thankful that the two week Driver's Training course got over before they arrived. The traffic is heavier and you see more out of state license plates.
The sunset was taken at our horse arena the other evening. School is soon going to be approaching and I don't know where the time has gone. I have spent a few days at the nursing home and have a family care plan meeting this week. That will be interesting to see what they have to offer.
Sunday evening I went to my son's for dinner. We were celebrating my dil's birthday and paying me for being a chauffeur for their oldest. I got to participate in my grandson's exercises. When they rotate his head to the left and then have him sit up. He is a little dizzy. He has learned that peppermint helps control being sick to his stomach because of the dizziness. They have a series of exercises that they start for a minute and will gradually being adding more time as they go. My son cooked on the grill for his wife's birthday, we had barbeque's ribs, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion, green pepper and some other veggies cooked on the grill, and corn. For dessert it was a chocolate fleck gluten free cake. It was yummy. He likes to cook on the grill while there was coals he cooked some other things so that all they would have to do is warm them up for their evening meal this week. My dil told my oldest grandson what was off limits for him to eat in the fridge as it was for their supper this week.
The fingers have been very busy with embroidering. I sent one to Valida, Ga. I have just got done a couple more. I was showing them off and they won't be going to my etsy shop. Both are sold plus I will have some more to make just don't know how many yet. I will take a pictures so you can see them. They are on the dryer rack tonight.
I have been doing some poppin in and out visiting as I can, never enough hours, but I have enjoyed sleeping a little late of a morning. I still get my wake up phone calls to check and make sure mom is alright. My son is still working in Texas. I don't know how long that is going to last, but at least he is working. He doesn't like sitting around the apartment with nothing to do.
Well I better call it a night, but I wanted you to know I am o.k. just a little busy and like being that way. It gives me less time to think about hubby knowing there is little that I can do about the situation. It is frustrating, but then that is life. Take care. Try to stay cool.

Quiet Weekend

A beautiful start of the day with the clouds slowly disappearing and the sun shine starting to be brighter. It is a nice 72 degrees at the present time and I hope it stays that way.
Last day at driver's training class for my oldest grandson. He has been driving with both his parents, but they want him to have more experience before they give their permission to drive my car.  I got to sleep late this morning because his dad had the day off so he took him before he started his errands today.
It will be a quiet weekend with the  boys not showing their horses. They could have gone to one, but they didn't have that many classes for them it wasn't worth the haul. It is momma 's birthday this Sunday so they decided to celebrate it instead. I don't know what they have planned for her other then they are going fishing. It is her weekend to do whatever she wants to give her a break from the norm.
Do you ever wonder just what normal is anymore? Will all of the turmoil continue to get worse all over the world?
Matt has started his exercises at home that seem to be helping with the dizziness. He can set still longer at a time and doesn't seem to be going 90 miles a hour.  Their next doctor appointment will be with the ear, nose, and throat specialist to decide what they are going to do for his hearing lost. We are so thankful for Children's Mercy doctors to take care of all of our little ones who need something special.
I have been busy embroidering to keep me from thinking about what is going on at the nursing home. I know I will have to address issues when I go there today. His blood sugar is so all over the board from high to low. He says he just doesn't feel good. I sometime wonder if that is just to put a quilt trip on me because I haven't been there for a couple of days. I just know when I ask him if he told them, he says it won't do any good. It just makes me frustrated.
I am going to enjoy sleeping in the next couple of days and doing some of the things that I want to do. I will go to the nursing home to try to figure out just what is going on, but other then that I am doing whatever I feel like today.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I know it will be warming up, but I have sure enjoyed the cooler weather. Take care.

Busy Weekend

The start of Saturday morning with the grand entry. My oldest grandson Jake carrying our flag to start the show. It was hot and humid, but we survive the day. I somehow sunburned the end of my nose. I don't really know how I did it because I had a hat on. I have been taking him to the college for his driver's training classes.I took him to get his permit so that he can drive with a license driver. He got to chauffeur dad home from the show and mom a couple of times.
Matt had a wonderful afternoon. Fergie is a wonderful horse for him who takes very good care of him. If you notice the yellow green bandana under his helmet, when he was doing the trail pattern it kept slipping down over his eyes. Even though at times it was over his eyes, they did an awesome job. She took care of him and did her thing. It was awesome to watch. He didn't want grandma taking his pictures. He was the 2014 Novice High Point rider for the day. We are so proud of him. He was tired but he did an awesome job.

I tried to get a picture of him with his trophy. His face was lit up with smiles. They were to show again this afternoon, but it got rained out so that let grandma go watch Ethan's team  play for the championship. They lost by one run, but they still played awesome.

Matt had his first appointment with the physical therapist at Children's Mercy hospital. His mom made all of the appointments that he will need as follow-ups while she was there because she is to hard to get in to see. She is the only one certified.  I am hoping that she can solve  the problem with the dizziness and getting sick. We still don't know why he is losing his hearing, but therapist said he had probably been having this problem for quite a while with getting dizzy only now it was to the point where it made him physically sick. She gave him exercises to do at home.
I hope you don't get tired of seeing the kids with their horses.Jake seemed like he was stuck in a rut with his placements, but he was in larger groups.

They let them wear tee shirts after a certain point in the afternoon. Grandma survived just fine other then sunburning the end of my nose.
We had storms last night so the horse show was cancelled for them today. They got to rest.  I don't know how much rain we got, but my son said they had over an inch. I just know at first I thought it was fireworks that they shoot off when the Mustangs are at home in town. I soon learned otherwise.
I have one week of chauffeuring left then it will be getting back to my regular routine. I need to get back on a custom order I am working on and you all probably all tired of my rambling. Have a wonderful week. Try to stay cool if you are out in the heat. Take care.

Summertime

This is the way that the sky is looking this morning when I got up early to take my grandson to the college for his first day of Drivers Training.  He was up and ready to go I think a little anxious. This afternoon he is going to go take his written exam then we will go see hubby since I didn't make it over the weekend.  My payment is  a cup of coffee from Breaktime.  I had a busy three days with the 4th of July cookout with my family. We could sit on their  covered deck and watch not only their fireworks and  other fireworks from the surrounding area. It makes you wonder just how much money was spent because of the time they started selling them and they started shooting them off. I know my neighborhood finally got quiet around 12:30 each night with most being shot off the last three days.
They had a celebration for the patients at the nursing home on the 2nd with hot dogs, chips, watermelon, and root beer floats. We could either have tea or lemonade to drink. We were going to watch from hubby's room, but they parked the ambulance in front of it so we went outside. They had a nice about 40 minute firework  show plus other entertainment. I think my favorite part was when they retired the flag and raised the new one. The folding ceremony of the old  flag was impressive.
I got to be chauffeured over the weekend which was enjoyable just to sit back and watch the scenery.  I got my yard cut yesterday. My grandson wanted to know if I wanted to see about baling it. It was getting tall, but when they planned on mowing it we got a pour down rain. We have flooding in the low lying areas across town from all of the rain plus what they are releasing from the dam up north. I don't know how much rain we got. I just know  it came fast and furious with small hail and you couldn't see the house across my driveway.
The outdoor wedding that we went to on Saturday you couldn't ask for a better day. It poured down rain here, but they had sunshine down at Excelsior Springs. It was at the Elms if you have heard of it. It was the first time I have ever been there. The reception was inside with a buffet dinner.  My daughter and I had a wonderful time and the bride was so pretty.  We could have gone to the brunch on Sunday with the family. The girls skating together along time ago.
The next two weeks I will be taking my grandson to the college.  His brother is going to see the physical therapist this week. They have waited for quite a while since there is   such a shortage in the kind of therapy that he needs with his hearing problem. They have to take him to Children Mercy in Kansas City or Lincoln, Nebraska.  It is closer to go to Kansas City. They have found if he gets to tired he gets sick.  He keeps his trash can close to his bed. You have to love him with his independence that he shows. He knows what he can and can't do.  It doesn't really slow him down. He still goes 90 miles a hour or so it seems.
After the fireworks was over, my youngest grandson wanted everyone to go home because he wanted to go to bed. The boys enjoyed shooting off their fireworks.  Some was still shooting them off last night, but not as late.
Hope all of you had a safe holiday and enjoy the week. Take care.

ROUGH FEW DAYS

Storm clouds moving into our area. i don't like it when we have tornadoes on both sides of us and you don't really know where they are going. To many of those lately and it doesn't matter where you live. As some of you know, I live in what they call tornado alley. It always bothers me when they tell me we are in a tornado watch. Last night I talked to my daughter while she drove home. She was telling me about how the sky looked. She went through a wall cloud, and thankful it was only heavy rain. We have flood water in the low lying areas along the Missouri River which is across town from me.
At least  it cooled it down from the temperatures that we have been having the last few days. We have sunshine and 76 degrees right now. I can handle that for a change.
My grandson Matt tried Mutton Bustin this last Saturday evening. I didn't get to see it, but dad has it on video. I am anxious to watch. He is my dare devil and not really scared of anything. I don't know if that is good or bad.
I love the picture of us and our three boys. Ethan in the middle is the youngest. My ornery one is in the front sitting beside his grandpa. They are the ones that keep me going and help me keep active. I don't really know what I would do if I didn't have my family and grandchildren to help keep my sanity.
Trying to get someone to listen to you, is like pulling teeth at times. Sometimes easy, and sometimes you wonder if you will get it done at all.
Another horse tea towel off the hoop. I am working on a baby quilt right now for a change of scenery. I have almost two blocks done and will start the third one this afternoon while I am at the nursing home.
Hope you all have a safe 4th of July. They are having fireworks tomorrow evening for the nursing home patients and their families. The 4th  I will go to my daughter's. Then on Saturday evening she and I will be going to a wedding. So it is busy, but it is the way I like it. It helps makes the days go by.
If you are traveling be safe, but have a wonderful 4th of July. Take care
