Quiet House

Happy Halloween to all of you in blog land. The house is quiet this evening with it only being dad and I again. Our son has safely made it to Louisiana, and I need to learn how to spell. It is Kenner, instead of Kinner. The weather has been similar to ours. Cool in the evening and warms up during the day.
The only complaint he had of the trip going down was the traffic in Little Rock. One of those situations of you hit it at the wrong time of day.
We have had a wonderful day today with getting up to 67 degrees after a really chilly day to start.
I am waiting for the news to come on so that I can find out more about the explosion at Bartlett Grain Co. in Atchison, Kansas. They have several hurt and possibility of a fatality maybe more then one.
My dad worked at one a long time ago when I was growing up and that was always a fear that something like that would happen.
My prayers are going out to those and the people on the East Coast affected by the snow storm. So far it has been to the west of us in Colorado. I am not ready for that yet.
I think we are going to keep our lights turn out Monday, if it was like last year we didn't have any. I had sent what I do for our own grandchildren to them. The least amount of sweets I keep in the house the better, because my hubby would eat them even though he is a diabetic. He can't pass up the temptation. I can understand where he is coming from being sick for so many years. This next month it will be twelve years that we have been battling his health issues. It definitely can be very frustrating at times. Now you know part of the reason why I still work.
Tomorrow is suppose to be another pretty day for us so enjoy your weekend. Take care

New Adventure

Our son left this morning on his new adventure to start a new job. He has checked in for the evening from south of Little Rock, Arkansas.
The drive wasn't to bad until he got there. He said that it was bumper to bumper and very hard to change lanes. He had planned on staying there, but decided to go on further south.
He has found out that he left his cell phone charger and the memory chip for his new camera at home. He figures he will hit up a Walmart  and be able to find both. He hopes to make it the rest of the way into Kinner, Louisiana tomorrow, which will give him a chance to familiarize himself with the area and locate the office where he is to report to work on Monday morning. He is wanting to stay in a corporate extended stay, but he has to have a couple of weeks pay stubs and some other stuff first. The apartments that he looked at is wanting a lease for a year, he doesn't know yet how long he will be there other then his trial period. I just know when I told him goodbye this morning. He was excited about the new adventure.
Matt  and Baby sis Leading the trail ride
Our son's family went on a trail ride this past weekend on Saturday. It was a little cool in the morning, but in the afternoon they were shedding layers.  I laugh at my grandson Matt  because he was in the lead on his little pony. They were both exhausted at the end of the day. The morning part of the trail ride was over 5 miles. They think they rode close to ten miles. He is excited because he is having a friend spend the night with him. He didn't want a party, but to do like big brother did at his. His birthday cake was Cherry Cobbler cooked in the dutch oven over an open fire. It was served with ice cream and was really yummy.
My daughter-in-law is a very good cook.
Our weather has been up and down. We haven't got the rain that we need even though we had flood water all summer. We have had our first frost and it is 42 degrees as I am writing this post. It will be in the 30's tonight. I am not ready for the really cold weather.
Tomorrow is Friday. Hooray, Hooray, I am ready for the weekend. It has been a very trying week in more ways then one.
I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Take care.

Countdown

Two days before our son leaves for New Orleans to start his new job. Why do mother's have such mixed emotions when a child regardless of age leaves home? I keep promising myself that I won't cry, but I probably will after he is gone.
He is very excited about it. He says it reminds him of when he was reporting to a new ship.
We spent yesterday at our son's Pat house. We celebrated Matt's 7th birthday and took family pictures of the kids. We haven't done that for a long time.
First my picture is taken looking across the lake at Table Rock Dam. It was a beautiful day. I just wish the vacation could have been longer.

Grandpa and Grandma with their three boys. Matt is the smallest, Ethan in the middle, and Jake our oldest next to me. Jake keeps growing everytime that we see him. He is almost to catch his dad in height. I told him I was going to put a rock on his head to slow him down. I wouldn't that is for sure. We are going to do a craft show together in November. He showed me the puzzles that he had made already and his list of what he was going to do. The next picture is mom, dad and our oldest son who is starting his new adventure. He leaves Thursday morning after his doctor appointment on Wednesday. It is a 16 hour drive straight through, but he will go so far and spend the night going the rest of the way in on Friday. His job is in Kenner, Louisiana.
We will have dinner tomorrow night together then he is going out to Pat's to see them on Wednesday night to play with his nephews.
JAKE AND FERGIE
The next picture is of Jake and his new horse Fergie. She will be a challenge because she hasn't been rode for a while. He rode her down to the house so that grandma and grandpa could see her. He is excited about the coming year. I know already that we will be spending time at the horseshows. The last picture is of Our three kids and grandsons. Hope your week has started off good.

Rollercoaster

Since we came home from our mini vacation, I feel like I am on a roller coaster and can't get off. We did have a wonderful trip. Our son took us to dinner for our 48th anniversary. It was a celebration for him, also. He is starting a new job in New Orleans after being unemployed since December.
He will leave this coming Thursday. He can't go any sooner for he has a doctor appointment he needs to keep. He is going to try to find an extended stay motel to live for a while. They will clean his room, plus we have someone to see him that can let us know if he is having a problem.  He would like one of the corporate ones, but he can't qualify until he has a couple of weeks pay stubs and meets some other requirement. I wanted him to do one of those for with an apartment, most people want a years lease. He doesn't know how long he will be there. His trial period is for 6 months then he may stay there or go to one of their other offices. .
My oldest grandson is on cloud nine. He is getting a new horse. They went to pick her up today. We will get to see her when we go out Sunday for his brother's 7th birthday party. She is suppose to be well trained. He shows Western Pleasure and Trail Ride.
Dad and brother will show Cleo this next summer with brother on his new one. Matt still has to ride his pony to do the games. It isn't so far to fall if he falls off his pony.
The whole family will be together this weekend. That is whats important to me.  I know how I felt when I use to put my oldest on the plane to go back to his ship after being home on leave. I told him that is how I am trying to look at him leaving  We told him anytime he  wanted to fly home for a weekend some one would be more then happy to pick him up at the airport.
Work has been stressful this week trying to catch up and with one off sick again. May after his surgery on the 17th of next month he will start feeling better to where he can do more. I think I will try to catch up with some more of you before I call it a day. Have a great weekend.

Celebration

Our mini vacation was wonderful. The weather couldn't have been any more perfect. A little cool in the morning and in the 70's in the afternoons.
This is a week for celebration. We celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and our son has found a job doing what he likes best in New Orleans, Louisiana. He will be working doing the same job that he was doing when he was let go in December. He is excited as we are that it finally happened. He will be working as a Senior Tech with more responsibility. He just doesn't know whether he will be working in the lab, the field, or just what his job is going to entail. He is taking mom and dad to dinner Wednesday evening at our favorite restaurant that is a little expensive. I was told not to worry about it.
I am thinking about it as though he is going back into the service because we don't know when we will see him again. I liked having him here at home, but I, also, like the aspect he will be working which will make him happier. He didn't like drawing the unemployment and didn't know how long it would last.
The company that he will be working for has other offices in Texas, California, Arizona, just to name a few. He doesn't how long he will be in New Orleans or if he will be sent to another locations. It will be interesting.
Back to our trip, if you get a chance to go to Branson, the shows I would recommend you seeing is "Hooray for Hollywood" Music and dancing from the 1940's to the current day. The Twelve Irish Tenors were awesome. To hear 12 voices blend without music in the background sends chills up your arms. They either came from Ireland or have Irish ancestors. I, also had a chance to see the Lennon sisters, who was with Ann Margaret because Andy Williams was sick. The Lennon sisters' brothers were also in the show. Part of their family flew in and surprised them so they were added to their last number. There were 11 children in that family.  I can remember them when they were little and on the Lawrence Welk Show.
Shoji Tabuchi was so enjoyable and he gave you a sneak peak of his Christmas Show. It made you want to go back, but not this year.
There were theatres, shops and restaurant's that had closed because they couldn't make it financially. They said it had been a rough year, because they hadn't had the tourism. Gas was a nickle to a dime higher then here at home. The highest we paid was 3.24.
We didn't get to stop at Lambert's. Neither of us was hungry when we went through plus it was at the lunch hour. You could see the buses so you knew there was the possibility of a wait. They weren't open when we came through headed home.
Our favorite place for breakfast was the Golden Corral. I like the breakfast buffet. You have a wide variety to choose from and if you go away hungry you have no one to blame but yourself.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Suitcases Packed

Suitcases are packed ready to load in the car in the morning. I was so glad when it was time to get off work and know that I was officially off for the next few days. It will just be great to have a change of scenery.
One of the guys saw that I had a tail light out on my car so they got one and put it in for me. They didn't want me pulled over for a tail light out. They take pretty good care of me.
I have talked to all of my family and told our daughter Happy Anniversary. They were married 15 years today.
I don't remember who's parking lot we were in when I snapped this picture.I just thought the trees were pretty. I hope the drive will be that pretty also. I have our trip mapped out so that the kids will know what route we are taking. They have my license plate number and we always call and tell them where we are staying, room number, and etc.
We are going to get up and drive for a ways then stop for breakfast. We will have to make frequent stops or else my hubby's legs will swell. We don't need that. I picked up all of the meds tonight that I was low on. Some would probably been o.k., but with insulin I never know.
I think we are going to try to have a late lunch at Lambert's for those of you are familiar with the Nixa area. If you are traveling through, it is a great place to eat. Guaranteed you won't go away hungry.
Have a great rest of the week.

Countdown to Thursday

We are getting closer to our mini vacation. We are both getting anxious. The doctor visit went well and we have our flu shots.
My grandson Ethan went to the Pumpkin Festival this weekend. He is the first two pictures. He was having such a good time and he got to ride the ponies too.
They have the wall of jack-o-lanterns carved by different people that they lit when it got dark the very first night. A costume parade was held this morning. It will run through tomorrow.
I thought I would show you all some more of my tea towels and pillowcases that I have finished. They will be listed in my etsy shop before the weekend is over.
Our older two grandsons and their parents are in Branson this weekend. They went down Thursday after the boys got out of school. They only missed a half a day because it was home coming this weekend. They called as they were getting ready to eat at Lambert's.
I haven't really decided what his balloons are suppose to represent, but I thought he looked cute. He is the one that got in an argument with his teacher. He will tell you exactly what he thinks that is for sure. He was our preemie baby when he was born, but he more then made up for it. We won't get to see his first school program because we will be gone. Maybe the next one.
The weather has really been nice and the color is really getting prettier each week. We took a drive today look at the fall color. We, also, went across one of the roads that had been closed because of high water. There is still a lot of water when you look out over what was bean, corn, and tobacco fields. You could see the flood marks on the houses to see how deep it  was.

My tea towels will be listed in my etsy shop. You can have customized colors if so desire. I don't know which ones are my favorites.
It is getting late so I had better close. Have a great day.

A Week From Thursday

The countdown has started for our  get away for a few days. I am so ready after this past week. We have decided on a place to stay and the shows that we are going to see. We have two shows on Friday and two  on Saturday. We will be leaving a week from this coming Thursday. Our son will house sit while we are gone.

We took a drive today to see the fall color and it is getting so pretty.Today reminded me of the weather the day we got married 48 years ago which is the 19th of this month. In a roughly a couple of weeks, we should have a lot more color. My problem is I need a chauffeur to drive while I take pictures. It would just be nice to ride. He he. We can't have everything we want. We could always take a bus trip, but we like to do our own thing and on the bus you have a set itinerary. We won't have a lot of free time to go shopping, but I don't really care. I am looking forward to setting and enjoying the shows one being the 12 Irish Tenors. I just like their singing. His show is Ann Margaret and Andy Williams. He has to see the girls.
I don't know if we will get to stop at Lambert's or not on the way down to eat. We always have a good time if we do and you get so much food, Plus they walk around with more food for you to try. You have to watch out for the flying dinner rolls. It all  depends on what time it is  when we reach that point. I just hope the weather is good.
The first night will be spent resting with a lot of time on the road. We will have to make a few stops along the way so he can stretch his legs or else they will swell. I will have some embroidering with me if I want to do some, but just how much will remain to be seen.
You all have a good week and enjoy the weather.
