HAPPY NEW YEAR

I have a long weekend as I don't have to go back to work until after the New Year. Do you have any big plans to celebrate New Year's eve?
Ours will be spent quiet just the two of us. We probably will both be asleep at midnight, but we will know as the neighbor always shoots off fireworks. I haven't forgot spending New Year's eve in the hospital when he had to have his gall bladder taken out. They shot the fireworks off at midnight and the nurses were wearing their party hats to give the patients a little fun. We got to vote for which one we liked best.
We had almost 60 degree weather today. Who would have thought that we wouldn't have seen much snow as of yet this year when last year the ground was white and the year before we were snowed in. We did have a few sprinkles this evening. We aren't going to be as warm tomorrow, but I will take the cooler temperatures as long as there is no bad weather until I get home to stay from all of my driving that I have to do.
Tomorrow is the last doctor appointment for the year. I don't know what it will bring because hubby has been coughing, sneezing, and running a temperature this evening. Hopefully it is just a cold, but there is so much junk going around and with his immune system not the best. Well I guess we weren't careful enough and I don't know if there is anything over the counter he can take with all of the medication that he is on.
I could have brought it home to him because the guys all have been sick at work. Then they blame me because they say it is my fault. When you work with all guys, you are always the one at fault.
I hope 2012 will be a great year for all of us. Have a safe New Year if you travel. As they say don't drink and drive. Take care

Full Weekend

We have had a very busy weekend with our family. My Christmas wish was granted when our oldest flew home. We spent a lot of time talking about where he was at, the difference between the weather, things that were available to go see there.
He said that one job he was working on was close to a Naval Airport. He heard the jets and it was the blue angels practicing. It was awesome to see.
He flew back today and had a non-stop flight from Kansas City to New Orleans. They were late taking off and some were complaining they were missing the tail-gating at the Saints game. He didn't tell them how close he lived to the stadium nor that he goes by there every day as he goes to work. They had originally booked him through Houston. He was glad for the non-stop. Made it to New Orleans by the time he would have been reaching Houston and had a layover.
The boys had so much fun with their Uncle John. Of course, they had to build their new Lego sets that Santa brought with help from Uncle John. We had breakfast with him this morning and visited with him until time to leave for the airport.
I am not ready to go back to work and it doesn't seem like it should be the last week of the year. Where has the  time gone?? I just wish it would slow down to a slower pace so that you had time to smell the flowers as the saying goes. The weather for Christmas was a lot different then it has been in the previous years. We have had the cold, but not really the snow yet. Maybe we will be lucky and not have one like we had the last couple of years. Of course it doesn't help the ones who push snow.
The boys want to go coasting before they go back to school. My oldest grandson would love to go to Snow Creek by Weston, Missouri where he could go skiing. They went there one year on a field trip and he wants to go back.
I know we all probably ate way to many sweets and food. Thank goodness it only comes once a year where we have so many cookies and candies.
Every body stay warm and if traveling be safe. It is late so I need to say good night.

Christmas Eve

I got my Christmas wish today. My SIL, daughter and grandson picked my son up from the airport last night. He got in about 9:30 P.M. His flight was actually a little early. He said that there wasn't an empty seat on the plane. If he had known a little sooner, he could have stayed a little longer instead of flying back on Monday. He actually has the week off between Christmas and New Year. It was so good to see him and have all of our family together.
Our Christmas Eve dinner wasn't the traditional meal, but potato soup, chili, ham sandwiches, hot dogs with chili, veggie tray, jello salad, cookies, pumpkin roll, strawberry cheese cake, and I am sure I am forgetting something. The potato soup is made without using milk. That is one of the soups that my daughter in law makes for me.
Our son is happy to be working and doing some sight seeing  when he has the time. He is a military history buff. They have some military museums and he talked about driving to Baton Rouge to do some sight seeing there. He had talked about getting an apartment, but he is going to wait until the trial period is up with his job. Then he will make a decision about an apartment, but he may continue to stay where he is. Even to rent a room they want a lease signed. He doesn't know from one day to the next what job he will be working on.
We are going out to our son's in the morning. He said that there is a present out at their house under the tree, and then we will go back to our daughters later in the day so we can all visit with our Oldest more before he flies home. Of course, the grandson's are enjoying him playing with them. They all like to build lego's .
I started my vacation yesterday at 11 and am off until Tuesday. It will be good to sleep a little late if possible. Easier said then done when you are use to the alarm going off at a certain hour. Basically it will be a weekend filled with family.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Happy Holidays

I don't want to offend anyone in blog land so I am sending you a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I have a day and a half left for work and then it is off until Tuesday of next week.
I will be checking in  the next few days, but I may not have time to leave you a comment with the last minute things I need to do and I have started on a new baby quilt which I will be working on until I get it done. I am suppose to have approximately a month and a half  before the baby is do. They don't know if it is a boy or girl. She has chosen the quilt with momma, papa, baby brother and baby sister bears on it which will work for either.
I have never kept track of how long it takes me to do one because technically I never really wanted to know . I just figure my payment for the labor was the love  and honor of getting to make them a baby quilt for their new little one.
I thought I would show you a set of pillowcases that I finished. I think that it is a little late to list them in my shop, but I may in my Christmas all year category. I just like the candy cane design. They are queen size. I have started doing the queen size because so many of the kids today are getting queen size bedroom outfits.
My grandson has reminded me that my surprise is at 3 o'clock on Christmas eve at his house. I can't come before then. I got my idea of what it is.
I talked with my oldest when we were having our freezing rain and snow. He had 77 degrees and partly sunny. I asked him if he missed this kind of weather. He said not at all. He rather liked wearing shorts and t-shirts when he was off work.
We had black ice this morning. There was several accidents  because of it. People don't drive with common sense when we get the first bad weather. I admit the streets just looked wet, but I took my time because of the black ice. They were telling you on the television and radio to please drive carefully. I am just glad we didn't have to go to the city.
We will be spending Christmas Eve at our daughters and she has invited us back to their house on Christmas Day. She said we might as well help eat up the left overs.
If you travel this weekend, please be careful. Have a wonderful holiday.

Update

We have had a very long and busy day . We spent it in the city getting my hubby an iron infusion. He actually had warm hands when they got through and before that his hands would be cold. He said that he felt better. I just wanted to get him through the holidays. We have one doctor appointment left this year and then we will be through for the year.
I am hoping that we don't have  any other problems. The diabetic doctor is not going to be happy because his blood sugar will be out of whack. That always happens when he gets the iron because they give him steroids. I got my gingerbread couple tea towel done. It is ready to laundry and take the pictures so that you can see it.
Tomorrow will be a day of running errands. I would just as soon stay home, but I have some things that I absolutely have to do. It takes the fun out of it in that respect. I haven't wrapped any presents yet. Christmas brings some sad memories along with the fun ones. I lost my mother on the 18 th and my dad on Christmas Day when they died. I think back of our Christmas together when dad went and got the tree, we strung popcorn to put on the tree, remember the bubble lights, the home made garland out of construction paper. We always helped mom make the homemade candy and cookies. How many of you have made homemade taffy? I can remember doing that with my mom.
My daughter-in-law has been making homemade candy and cookies. I don't do it because if I did my hubby would eat way to many sweets.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Just Listed

I finished my set of Christmas Napkins and Placemats and listed them in my shop. I am happy with how they turned out.
Today was a very stressful day and came home not knowing exactly what they are going to do. They didn't have all of the blood work done, but in looking at what they did his red cells, white cell, platelets, are just three that are out of whack as I call it. His blood count isn't even in the normal range. He will call me as soon as he sees the results and tell me what they are going to do. I would just soon get the iron infusion before Christmas if that is what they are going to do. I know they had a problem finding a vein today. Worse case scenario is they are going to have to put a port in. I am not looking forward to that just yet. It just doesn't help the stress load with the not knowing.
I just want him to be able to enjoy the holidays with our grandsons. Watching it through the eyes of the boys.
We are suppose to have a change of weather, but what is the question. We have freezing rain to the north of us and just rain to the south of us. We are still at 43 degree weather as I type this post.
I just about have my gingerbread people tea towel done. It is turning out better then I thought . The more colors added makes it all the better with a red and green border across the bottom with a yellow bow. She is stirring cookies and he has a pan in his hands.
I'll post pictures when I get it done. Well I just wanted to show you my placemats and napkins. Have a great day.

Just 2 weeka away

Christmas is just two weeks from today. The month is flying and I don't know where it has gone. I haven't done the last of my shopping. It is so hard to get around with one in the wheelchair this time of the year. I would just sooner go by myself, but he wants to go to.
I have changed my internet brouser so  it makes it a little more of a challenge, but it is just getting use to something new.
The picture is not my house although I wish it was. I would love to have a wrap around porch to sit on in the summer months. Just to enjoy fresh air at times and watch the birds. I  just thought it was a beautiful picture. I love scenery pictures. I don't know if I would like living someplace where you don't have that.
Who would dream that it almost the middle of December and the weather hasn't been that bad for us other then cold. We went for a drive today so the Hubby could see his trains. He got to see 10 trains some were on the long side and some were on the short side. He doesn't care as long as they are trains. I still would love to take a vacation on the train. The train adventures that I have seen on television make it look so enjoyable and I wouldn't have to do the driving.
Yesterday was family day at the beauty shop. My daughter-in-law was there with our oldest two grandsons getting the boys haircuts, then we had haircuts and our daughter came before we left to get her hair done. I think she was going to have some highlights put in hers.
Well I have tomorrow off not because I wanted it off, but because it is one of the last two doctor appointments of the year. Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Christmas will be here Soon

I enjoy this time of the year when the snow is on the ground. I just don't like it on the streets and highways that I have to travel.
Christmas is quickly approaching and I am partically ready. I still have my Christmas letter to write and cards to address. I had thought about not doing the letter, but that is the only time of the year that we hear from some family and friends.
We will spend Christmas eve at our Daughter's with the family. It will be complete if our oldest gets to come home for Christmas. He has been very busy with his new job and likes it. I talked to him tonight and he was just getting home. He had put in 11 1/2 hours and he told me he would have to go to bed early tomorrow night because he had a concrete pour at 4 A.M.
My daughter found out her little one can't keep secrets to well. He told his other grandma, but he didn't tell me. I guess the secret involves me. He is so funny. He is helping make Christmas cookies. He gets to put sprinkles on the sugar cookies.
What has happen to referring to Christmas parties in the schools? It isn't a Christmas party, but a winter party. They have to find neutral things to have for their party. I keep wondering about our school system. They are afraid that they will offend someone. You  will never be able to please everyone no matter how hard you try. To me it was a time to give that little something to the teachers and share Cookies and punch with Christmas decorations.
Well it is late and tomorrow is another work day. Take care stay warm and safe.

Here it is December

The year has gone so fast and I don't really know where it has gone.  It seems like a month just gets started and it is over almost like a blink of the eye.

The temperature has taken a nose dive and they are predicting rain turning to snow.I just know that the air felt cold and damp when I came home this evening. I am not really ready for it, but we don't really have an option whether we like it of not.
I had to go get John's new insurance today because his prescription d company sent us a letter saying that as December 31st, we would no longer have prescriptions coverage unless we found some other insurance. I make my agent do the work for me . I tell him to think of me as his mother and how would he advise me on the insurance for his parents. He has been our agent for the last 12 years every since my hubby got sick. I have seen pictures of his little boy and tonight I got to meet his wife and son in person. His little boy is so cute and would fit right in with ours.
I have one place mat to finish then I will have my set of four Christmas Place mats and napkins to list in my etsy shop. I liked how they turned out. I just need to be able to finish up some of my projects that I have in the fire as  the saying goes.
My boss had to have more test ran today. He has had three surgeries since Memorial weekend. He had an infection at the incision sight, but he said that looked better, but he was having a pain in his side, I can relate to what his wife is going through. I even remember spending a New Year's Eve in the hospital after my hubby had gall bladder surgery.
I called my son in Louisiana to check on him. I can tell by the sound of his voice if he is having a breathing problem. He is doing good and says  that he is just glad to be back to work.
You all have a good weekend.

Holiday Season

This was sent to me by a very good friend and I find it so true. The holiday season is a time to hear from family and friends. It means a great deal to me to have the friendship that I have found here in blog land.
You all have helped me get through some very trying times without realizing it by just dropping by and leaving a comment.
I have all of my craft shows over for this year. I ended up doing 4 in a roll which I hadn't planned on doing that many, but it was a way to spend time with my daughter-in-law and grandson. He has already asked if we are doing the one in Forest City this next year. I have to plan further ahead if I am going to do that.
Thanksgiving was a day with family. Everybody there and the boys were having a great time playing. We set around the dining room table looking at all of the want ads. My daughter was going shopping on Black Friday so I gave her money to get a couple of items for me. There is no way I will attempt to go. I don't like to shop right now because the stores are not as wheel chair friendly as they need to be with putting things in the isles.  People like to stand in the way and you can't get through.  I get tempted to run into them with the wheel chair. I have never done that, but the temptation is there.

We all talked with our son in Louisiana which made his day and ours. He didn't have time to come home for Thanksgiving, we don't know if he will fly home for the weekend at Christmas or not. We will have to wait and see.
We got two doctor appointments next month and then the year will be over. It has flown so fast that you wonder where it went.
All of my new Christmas tea towels have already sold at the craft shows. I am trying some new thread on the one that I am making right now. I have enjoyed not setting the alarm clock and sleeping late. The four days went much to fast. It is back to work tomorrow. Have a great week.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in Blog land. If you travel, please be safe.
I have one more craft show to do the day after Thanksgiving and that is it for the year.  I may do one in the Spring of the year because it benefits my grandson's school.
Each one has been different that is for sure. What you think will sell doesn't and what you think won't does. It is hard to judge people any more.
I hope you all have enjoyable day tomorrow. We are going to our son's for Thanksgiving and I only have to take the veggie tray. My daughter-in-law and daughter are doing the cooking. We will call my son in Louisiana later in the day so everybody can talk to him that wants to. He is kept busy and that is the main thing.
This is my latest Christmas tea towel. It sold at the first craft show. I have two more in the next picture that I have ready for the next  one. If they don't sell, then I will be listing them in my etsy shop. It has been neglected the last few weeks.
I will find out Friday evening if I have one of my baby quilts done. She thinks she wants the border in pink because it is their first grand daughter. It may mean changing the border on one of the quilts I have done, but if that is what it takes I will do it.
I may have another one to do, but I will have time because she is only two months along. She is having a boy so I got to check to see what I have that will work for a boy.
I promise I will be visiting after this weekend is over. I have been working longer hours at work which helps the paycheck, but not some of the other  things that I like to do. I have been visiting, but just not able to leave comments. Some work and some don't.
I got soaked twice from the rain we had and caught a cold. I think I am getting over it, but I have felt a little rough. I thought I was going to have to go to the doctor, but so far I haven't.

What do you think of my winking Santa. I think if I do another one I will do the eyes in a satin stitch. The pattern is very old. The lady was in her late 90's that had it. I thought he was cute.
Have a great day tomorrow and I am going to enjoy the day and my long weekend. I am off until Monday.

Time Flying

Are you ready for the winter months?? Can you believe the month is half gone already?
Anyone know how to slow it down a little so we can enjoy a day or two.?
We had a beautiful weekend this past weekend and I had a lot of enjoyment spending the day with my grandson. He sold several of his puzzles and I was so happy for him. I sold several of my tea towels and I didn't even get to show you my Christmas one. It sold the first thing at the craft show.
I have the possibility of doing a couple for a lady, but I don't know if it will materialize or not.
I talked with our son over the weekend. Would you believe 73 degrees and It was going to hit 80 later in the afternoon. He is doing well , no major problems with his asthma except when some one left something on the stove in one of the extend a stay rooms.
My picture reminded me of seeing the snow on the news that was in Minot, South Dakota, and the blizzard conditions in Colorado. I want it to continue to go around us.
Have you ever got absolutely exhausted or felt that way? That's me since daylight savings went into effect. I haven't done a very good job adjusting. I am not ready to go to bed when I should and then I would like to sleep in the mornings later then usual. I just wish if they had to change it, then only change it a half of a hour and leave it alone. You all have a very good week.

Cold Rainy Weather

Are you ready for winter? Fall hasn't been nearly long enough to suit me how about you?I thought I would check in with you all to let you know that I am o.k. just busy. My craft show this last weekend went better then I thought. You can never guess people because what you think will sell doesn't and what you question does.
The last couple of days we have had the rain and temperature in the 40's. We are suppose to possible have a mixture of snow and rain later tonight. I am not ready for this at all.
My grandson told me that he is ready to go with grandma and wants to know what time we are leaving. I am not even completely ready. He isn't anxious. He told me what all wooden puzzles he has made. He has cows, pigs, horses, tractors, goats, and he was going to try a sheep to just to name a few.
If any of you are interested in some just let me know, because I am sure he would make some for you.
I have been working on my Christmas tea towels for this Saturday and then I have another one the following Sunday. I am looking forward to them. I don't know if I will do any more or not. I have talked with my boy a couple of times. They were filming a movie down the street from where he is living. He didn't know what kind, but he thought he might watch for a while last Saturday because you don't get to see that all of the time.
Well back to my tea towels. Everybody take care , be safe, stay dry and warm.

Where Does the Time Go

Can anyone tell me where the time is going?? It seems like we just start a month and it is gone. Much to fast to suit me.
Christmas will be here before we are ready. I kept thinking I would be ahead of the game, but somehow that isn't happening.
Our weather man says the rain switching to snow will be here tomorrow. I am not ready for that, but I guess we don't have any say in the matter.
A fire in the fireplace makes you think about curling up on the sofa with a good book, taking a nap, especially if it gets as cold as they say we are going to get. We lost our power today here at home. They didn't say what caused it other then 2800 people were affected. My daughter told me to be careful as I was coming home because some of the traffic lights were out. I don't like that because some people don't like treating the intersection as a four way stop.
I am doing some last minute touches to a few things to be ready for Saturday. It is only from 9 to 3 so I will have some me time. Dad is staying home. It is  a new show for me so I will see what other people think of my work.
Our son is liking his new job so far. He is busy and that is what he really likes. He just wants to work. You all have a good rest of the week. Take care

Quiet House

Happy Halloween to all of you in blog land. The house is quiet this evening with it only being dad and I again. Our son has safely made it to Louisiana, and I need to learn how to spell. It is Kenner, instead of Kinner. The weather has been similar to ours. Cool in the evening and warms up during the day.
The only complaint he had of the trip going down was the traffic in Little Rock. One of those situations of you hit it at the wrong time of day.
We have had a wonderful day today with getting up to 67 degrees after a really chilly day to start.
I am waiting for the news to come on so that I can find out more about the explosion at Bartlett Grain Co. in Atchison, Kansas. They have several hurt and possibility of a fatality maybe more then one.
My dad worked at one a long time ago when I was growing up and that was always a fear that something like that would happen.
My prayers are going out to those and the people on the East Coast affected by the snow storm. So far it has been to the west of us in Colorado. I am not ready for that yet.
I think we are going to keep our lights turn out Monday, if it was like last year we didn't have any. I had sent what I do for our own grandchildren to them. The least amount of sweets I keep in the house the better, because my hubby would eat them even though he is a diabetic. He can't pass up the temptation. I can understand where he is coming from being sick for so many years. This next month it will be twelve years that we have been battling his health issues. It definitely can be very frustrating at times. Now you know part of the reason why I still work.
Tomorrow is suppose to be another pretty day for us so enjoy your weekend. Take care

New Adventure

Our son left this morning on his new adventure to start a new job. He has checked in for the evening from south of Little Rock, Arkansas.
The drive wasn't to bad until he got there. He said that it was bumper to bumper and very hard to change lanes. He had planned on staying there, but decided to go on further south.
He has found out that he left his cell phone charger and the memory chip for his new camera at home. He figures he will hit up a Walmart  and be able to find both. He hopes to make it the rest of the way into Kinner, Louisiana tomorrow, which will give him a chance to familiarize himself with the area and locate the office where he is to report to work on Monday morning. He is wanting to stay in a corporate extended stay, but he has to have a couple of weeks pay stubs and some other stuff first. The apartments that he looked at is wanting a lease for a year, he doesn't know yet how long he will be there other then his trial period. I just know when I told him goodbye this morning. He was excited about the new adventure.
Matt  and Baby sis Leading the trail ride
Our son's family went on a trail ride this past weekend on Saturday. It was a little cool in the morning, but in the afternoon they were shedding layers.  I laugh at my grandson Matt  because he was in the lead on his little pony. They were both exhausted at the end of the day. The morning part of the trail ride was over 5 miles. They think they rode close to ten miles. He is excited because he is having a friend spend the night with him. He didn't want a party, but to do like big brother did at his. His birthday cake was Cherry Cobbler cooked in the dutch oven over an open fire. It was served with ice cream and was really yummy.
My daughter-in-law is a very good cook.
Our weather has been up and down. We haven't got the rain that we need even though we had flood water all summer. We have had our first frost and it is 42 degrees as I am writing this post. It will be in the 30's tonight. I am not ready for the really cold weather.
Tomorrow is Friday. Hooray, Hooray, I am ready for the weekend. It has been a very trying week in more ways then one.
I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Take care.

Countdown

Two days before our son leaves for New Orleans to start his new job. Why do mother's have such mixed emotions when a child regardless of age leaves home? I keep promising myself that I won't cry, but I probably will after he is gone.
He is very excited about it. He says it reminds him of when he was reporting to a new ship.
We spent yesterday at our son's Pat house. We celebrated Matt's 7th birthday and took family pictures of the kids. We haven't done that for a long time.
First my picture is taken looking across the lake at Table Rock Dam. It was a beautiful day. I just wish the vacation could have been longer.

Grandpa and Grandma with their three boys. Matt is the smallest, Ethan in the middle, and Jake our oldest next to me. Jake keeps growing everytime that we see him. He is almost to catch his dad in height. I told him I was going to put a rock on his head to slow him down. I wouldn't that is for sure. We are going to do a craft show together in November. He showed me the puzzles that he had made already and his list of what he was going to do. The next picture is mom, dad and our oldest son who is starting his new adventure. He leaves Thursday morning after his doctor appointment on Wednesday. It is a 16 hour drive straight through, but he will go so far and spend the night going the rest of the way in on Friday. His job is in Kenner, Louisiana.
We will have dinner tomorrow night together then he is going out to Pat's to see them on Wednesday night to play with his nephews.
JAKE AND FERGIE
The next picture is of Jake and his new horse Fergie. She will be a challenge because she hasn't been rode for a while. He rode her down to the house so that grandma and grandpa could see her. He is excited about the coming year. I know already that we will be spending time at the horseshows. The last picture is of Our three kids and grandsons. Hope your week has started off good.

Rollercoaster

Since we came home from our mini vacation, I feel like I am on a roller coaster and can't get off. We did have a wonderful trip. Our son took us to dinner for our 48th anniversary. It was a celebration for him, also. He is starting a new job in New Orleans after being unemployed since December.
He will leave this coming Thursday. He can't go any sooner for he has a doctor appointment he needs to keep. He is going to try to find an extended stay motel to live for a while. They will clean his room, plus we have someone to see him that can let us know if he is having a problem.  He would like one of the corporate ones, but he can't qualify until he has a couple of weeks pay stubs and meets some other requirement. I wanted him to do one of those for with an apartment, most people want a years lease. He doesn't know how long he will be there. His trial period is for 6 months then he may stay there or go to one of their other offices. .
My oldest grandson is on cloud nine. He is getting a new horse. They went to pick her up today. We will get to see her when we go out Sunday for his brother's 7th birthday party. She is suppose to be well trained. He shows Western Pleasure and Trail Ride.
Dad and brother will show Cleo this next summer with brother on his new one. Matt still has to ride his pony to do the games. It isn't so far to fall if he falls off his pony.
The whole family will be together this weekend. That is whats important to me.  I know how I felt when I use to put my oldest on the plane to go back to his ship after being home on leave. I told him that is how I am trying to look at him leaving  We told him anytime he  wanted to fly home for a weekend some one would be more then happy to pick him up at the airport.
Work has been stressful this week trying to catch up and with one off sick again. May after his surgery on the 17th of next month he will start feeling better to where he can do more. I think I will try to catch up with some more of you before I call it a day. Have a great weekend.

Celebration

Our mini vacation was wonderful. The weather couldn't have been any more perfect. A little cool in the morning and in the 70's in the afternoons.
This is a week for celebration. We celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and our son has found a job doing what he likes best in New Orleans, Louisiana. He will be working doing the same job that he was doing when he was let go in December. He is excited as we are that it finally happened. He will be working as a Senior Tech with more responsibility. He just doesn't know whether he will be working in the lab, the field, or just what his job is going to entail. He is taking mom and dad to dinner Wednesday evening at our favorite restaurant that is a little expensive. I was told not to worry about it.
I am thinking about it as though he is going back into the service because we don't know when we will see him again. I liked having him here at home, but I, also, like the aspect he will be working which will make him happier. He didn't like drawing the unemployment and didn't know how long it would last.
The company that he will be working for has other offices in Texas, California, Arizona, just to name a few. He doesn't how long he will be in New Orleans or if he will be sent to another locations. It will be interesting.
Back to our trip, if you get a chance to go to Branson, the shows I would recommend you seeing is "Hooray for Hollywood" Music and dancing from the 1940's to the current day. The Twelve Irish Tenors were awesome. To hear 12 voices blend without music in the background sends chills up your arms. They either came from Ireland or have Irish ancestors. I, also had a chance to see the Lennon sisters, who was with Ann Margaret because Andy Williams was sick. The Lennon sisters' brothers were also in the show. Part of their family flew in and surprised them so they were added to their last number. There were 11 children in that family.  I can remember them when they were little and on the Lawrence Welk Show.
Shoji Tabuchi was so enjoyable and he gave you a sneak peak of his Christmas Show. It made you want to go back, but not this year.
There were theatres, shops and restaurant's that had closed because they couldn't make it financially. They said it had been a rough year, because they hadn't had the tourism. Gas was a nickle to a dime higher then here at home. The highest we paid was 3.24.
We didn't get to stop at Lambert's. Neither of us was hungry when we went through plus it was at the lunch hour. You could see the buses so you knew there was the possibility of a wait. They weren't open when we came through headed home.
Our favorite place for breakfast was the Golden Corral. I like the breakfast buffet. You have a wide variety to choose from and if you go away hungry you have no one to blame but yourself.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Suitcases Packed

Suitcases are packed ready to load in the car in the morning. I was so glad when it was time to get off work and know that I was officially off for the next few days. It will just be great to have a change of scenery.
One of the guys saw that I had a tail light out on my car so they got one and put it in for me. They didn't want me pulled over for a tail light out. They take pretty good care of me.
I have talked to all of my family and told our daughter Happy Anniversary. They were married 15 years today.
I don't remember who's parking lot we were in when I snapped this picture.I just thought the trees were pretty. I hope the drive will be that pretty also. I have our trip mapped out so that the kids will know what route we are taking. They have my license plate number and we always call and tell them where we are staying, room number, and etc.
We are going to get up and drive for a ways then stop for breakfast. We will have to make frequent stops or else my hubby's legs will swell. We don't need that. I picked up all of the meds tonight that I was low on. Some would probably been o.k., but with insulin I never know.
I think we are going to try to have a late lunch at Lambert's for those of you are familiar with the Nixa area. If you are traveling through, it is a great place to eat. Guaranteed you won't go away hungry.
Have a great rest of the week.

Countdown to Thursday

We are getting closer to our mini vacation. We are both getting anxious. The doctor visit went well and we have our flu shots.
My grandson Ethan went to the Pumpkin Festival this weekend. He is the first two pictures. He was having such a good time and he got to ride the ponies too.
They have the wall of jack-o-lanterns carved by different people that they lit when it got dark the very first night. A costume parade was held this morning. It will run through tomorrow.
I thought I would show you all some more of my tea towels and pillowcases that I have finished. They will be listed in my etsy shop before the weekend is over.
Our older two grandsons and their parents are in Branson this weekend. They went down Thursday after the boys got out of school. They only missed a half a day because it was home coming this weekend. They called as they were getting ready to eat at Lambert's.
I haven't really decided what his balloons are suppose to represent, but I thought he looked cute. He is the one that got in an argument with his teacher. He will tell you exactly what he thinks that is for sure. He was our preemie baby when he was born, but he more then made up for it. We won't get to see his first school program because we will be gone. Maybe the next one.
The weather has really been nice and the color is really getting prettier each week. We took a drive today look at the fall color. We, also, went across one of the roads that had been closed because of high water. There is still a lot of water when you look out over what was bean, corn, and tobacco fields. You could see the flood marks on the houses to see how deep it  was.

My tea towels will be listed in my etsy shop. You can have customized colors if so desire. I don't know which ones are my favorites.
It is getting late so I had better close. Have a great day.
