Rain, Beautiful Rain

The clouds were there over the weekend and it was beautiful. In the low 70's, a good day to spend some time outside in the fresh air. So enjoyable. Today the much needed rain came and the temperature has been in the 60's. It is not that bad out, but you will get wet. It hasn't been a down pour, but just an easy rain a little harder at times, but we will take it. We are so dry.

Of course, the wrecks are always there and we have had several of those  the last few days closing down the interstate for a while. I don't know if they aren't paying attention or just following to close. I just know that you never know when you leave the house what the day will bring.

Doesn't my grandson look ornery? I don't know who was picking on him, but he was going to box somebody from looking at the picture. They had a gentleman come to school to teach them self defense this summer. Of course, they all had to try it.

He was visiting his other grandfather yesterday. He decided to walk with us around the parking lot while momma talked to her dad. He asked Hubby how long he had been at the nursing home. We are into the 9th month and still not walking. They took away part of the physical therapy and they are suppose to walk him upstairs. We both know that is not going to happen. I keep praying for a miracle. I just know I can't do what I use to do for him.

I had a peaceful weekend and enjoyed being outside. I slept a little later then usual. School is getting closer to starting. I will be a little lost at first from spending time with my oldest grandson. I have enjoyed  getting to do things that I don't normally do.

I hope you all are having a good week. Take care

IT'S MONDAY

Where did the weekend go? Did you think that it flew by too or is it just me because I am getting older? It had been so hot during the week, but Saturday didn't turn out to bad. It was cloudy and we had a couple of showers during the day basically enough to settle the dust.

The horse show was so long. They had 51 horses. When you have 21 in one class, it really makes it rough to decide winners. It started at 8 in the morning and was still going on when I left, but the boys had finished their last events. I thought Matt and Cleo were both going to go to sleep. We sang Happy Birthday to his momma with it being her birthday. We had canopy tents to sit under to keep the sun off of us. It was a fun day for me sitting their listening to the talk.

Matt collects girls all ages. The littlest being 16 months and the oldest being older then I. They all look after him and still talk about him getting thrown. He was standing up in his saddle when mom caught him. His horse was just standing there letting him do it. She is a good horse. There is just times when he wants her to do things that she doesn't want to do. I think we are all like that.

I had supper at my son's last night to celebrate my dil birthday. We had steaks on the grill, pasta salad, relishes, corn on the cob, and chocolate cake for dessert. It was yummy. I came home around 9 so the boys could get to bed. Matt goes with mom so they have to go early. They have summer hours where she works so they aren't in the heat late afternoon.

I am going to get my oldest grandson and he is going to help me again today. His payment is lunch and he does like to eat. I spoil them because I like to go to some place they wait on you instead of fast food.

Are your school supplies list long if you have children in school? High school depends on what classes you are taking and then the other fee's. They are all starting on my birthday so that will be easy to remember.

Well I need to get going. Have a wonderful day.

Where is the Time going.

The month is half gone already and it seems as though it only started yesterday.  The kids only have roughly a month before school starts again. Is it just because we are getting older that the time goes so much faster? They aren't that anxious to start, but in reality I think they are going to be ready to go. They will get to see their friends that they don't see that much during the summer.

I am wanting it to be cooler for the weekend while I watch two boys ride. They tried on their white shirts to see if they could still wear them and they can.  I asked why they require them to wear white shirts because  they never stay that way. They say wearing them puts everybody on a level playing field. I hadn't really thought about it that way.

They did their community project on Sunday afternoon. They painted pictures on the walls of the horse barn where the handicap kids ride. The floor is made of ground tires so that if they fall off they won't get hurt as bad like they put on playgrounds.  One picture by the time they got done, it turned into a butterfly. They got to catch the horses in the pasture and bring them up because camp started the next morning. They all had fun doing it.

I  don't usually take afternoon naps, but I took one for about a hour after I took my grandson home.  I had  a nice comfy place to sit and the next thing I knew the program on tv  had changed and I didn't see any of it.

I hope you all have an enjoyable rest of the week. Try to stay cool.

Question

Has Google Reader made a new appearance to your blog? When I first opened mine, it appeared that way, but I thought it might be my imagination. Was your day a hot one today? Ours started off not to bad, but that soon changed. Do you have a remedy for an ear ache? Is there a simple fix? or do I have to make a trip to the doctor's office. I really don't want to do that with having  an appointment in about a month. I have three trips next month to the eye doctor, primary doctor, and to get that lovely mammogram done. I know you have to do it, but I just wish they would find a new way so they didn't hurt afterwards.

The weekend was rather quiet. I got my car serviced and spent time at the Nursing Home with hubby. I got a wake up call today from Louisiana. We talked until my cell phone battery was almost dead. It kept telling me it was a low battery. He is working such crazy hours. He had to be to work at 11:00 P.M. tonight, but he likes the variation of the job. He doesn't do the same thing all the time.  I told him to call us so we don't wake him up. He had to make the choice to watch the fireworks or go to bed because of having to be to work early the next morning. Needless to say, he didn't watch any  fireworks. I heard them last night late. They woke me up. The Mustang team made up from college teams finally won in 14 innings 2-1. They always do fireworks after home games.

The boys are doing their 4H community service project this afternoon. They were going to the Broken Bow where they work with handicap children. They always have a horse show where those kids can come and participate. They need people to lead horses, walk along side of the rider, and etc.

The fingers have been busy embroidering on a custom order that I got. I always try to get them done as soon as possible.

I have really enjoyed the trip pictures that those of you have posted. It is going to be my way of traveling this summer for sure. I appreciate your sharing them with us. You have visited some wonderful places that I can only dream about.  Hope you all have a wonderful week. Take care

This and That

Sun going down with a nice breeze while sitting at the 6th of July Cancer Benefit. It was a beautiful day, warm, but not to hot. The kids had a lot of fun even with its scary moments. They all had a little dare devil in them at one time or another.
I know I enjoyed the day with the weather cooperating that was the best part.

Some areas have had some rain, just depending on where you live what you got. They had a nice shower around us, but I got nothing at the house. The picture of grass is what you get when you let one play with your camera. He thought it was cool and it kept him quiet. He had his first lesson last night back on his horse after she had thrown him off on Saturday. It went well and then big brother got on her and rode her some more. He is not scared at all, just his pride was hurt because he didn't want people see him cry. I liked the picture too.

I got my orange blossoms and butterflies table topper done. It was fun to make and kept me busy. I used my daughters table to put it on. She can seat 12 around the table when we are all there. We used the table  the 4th of July and ate together.

My hands have been busy to keep them from getting stiff. It is different after working for so many years. All of my stitching gives me something else to think about. You never know what life will hand you, but you just roll with the punches and deal with it.

My cow brings out the farm girl in me. We were talking about farm machinery at the nursing home and the prices of new today would give you a heart attack. They would need to farm a lot of ground just to make a payment. You take a big gamble that your crops will be good.

I hope you all have a good weekend. Mine is going to be on the quiet side doing whatever I want to do. I know one thing on the agenda is getting my car service, but other then that who knows. Today is being spent resting after not feeling good. Don't know if it was the heat or something I ate. Anyway I am feeling better. Take care

Scary Excitement

I had a busy weekend and turned a little scary..Matt got thrown off Cleo Thankful that he is only sore and nothing broken. He had got her to lope earlier and he was going to try it one more time only she didn't want to and you can see him going off.
Your heart stops when you watch your little one go flying through the air and land. Then you wonder will he get up or is he hurt and how bad. He had everyone praying that he would be o.k.
We had a nurse and an EMT at the show which was all games, who was out in the arena checking him out along with mom and dad. When he stood up, he gave everyone a wave to let them know he was o.k. His pride was hurt and he didn't want to cry. His little friend wanted to be in the arena and her parents had to hold her back. She would bring him popsickles and check on him that he was all right. He set for a while with grandma and I let him take pictures with my camera. I have pictures that I don't know who they are, but he does. It kept him quiet for a while which is what we wanted.
The picture was taken by M A  Donaldson, who was taking pictures all day long. He was trying his hardest to get Cleo stopped, but his little arms were not long enough to reach where he needed to. When they said it was time to do rings later in the afternoon, he was off to ride again. He wasn't allowed to do any games where he had to lean down and pick something up because they didn't wanting him to fall again. Brother took over riding Cleo and Matt went to riding Fergie. She was satisfied to walk and maybe trot, but nothing fast with him. He did get 5th in egg and Spoon, and brother got third which was o.k.
It was a cancer benefit for one of our own. I knew she had breast cancer, but she, also has liver cancer for which she was taking chemo, when they discovered the other. She will have surgery later this month. She was so surprised that people would do that for her and we had a good turnout.
This is Fergie, who is very gentle depending on the rider. Cleo is usually that way, but for some reason she was going to do things her way. Big brother made her work all afternoon, running and etc. At least he is back on a horse. He has lessons this week so we will see how he does. Every body was scared for him. When he stood, they all clapped and different ones stopped by to see him.
My youngest grandson played  in a baseball tournament and they won 2nd. Their team was the only one that scored a few points against the team that won.The team that beat them was  from a small town and had been playing together for 4 years. They don't have anything else to do. It showed them what they could do with practice. I didn't get to watch yesterday it was just to hot and no shade. They played in the heat of the day.
Hope you all have a good week. Stay cool.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE 4TH?????

Last night was the 4th of July show  and cookout at the nursing home. They had the celebration for the patients, family and friends. It was a fun evening. They had hot dogs, potato chips, root beer floats, lemonade, tea, just to name a few of the things that they did for them. They had the firework display and made sure that their patients  were all comfortable watching the show. Getting them blankets, if they needed them. They had entertainment for them while we waited for the fireworks to start. There was a dunkin tank and that seem to be the favorite thing of the evening especially when the head of nursing was there. She did get dunked, but they took it all in stride, which made it enjoyable.
I know that I have another family 4th of July celebration. I am to show up at my daughter's house after I leave the nursing home. The boys are excited  to shoot off fireworks.
The auction is over and the place is so empty. They made a mess in what use to be my office which was totally uncalled for, but at least they are going to bring in the paper shredding truck with so much to be destroyed.
I just wanted to let you know that I am still here. My 14 year old grandson has been helping me the last couple of weeks. He is very good help and that way it gives him something to do. His payment is lunch which is o.k. because I enjoy the time spent with him. This weekend, I will be going to a horse show that benefits cancer. I can't wait to take pictures of everyone in their pink shirts, then we will have a supper that night at a very reasonable price to finish off the evening. Fun time. Have a great safe 4th of July.
