Merry Christmas

Last day for shopping to get those last minute things. The mad dash to the grocery store for something that you forgot. I am glad that my shopping is all done. It is another cloudy drizzly day They are predicting snow, but who really knows.
The family will be gathering at the nursing home later this afternoon for Christmas with hubby. He will get to see his three grandsons and catch up with them.
I have been going up and checking on him. He has a new friend who is having to move to a nursing home. They both know people in common so it gives them something to talk about. His family has kinda adopted hubby as part of theirs. We all set at the supper table last night visiting for a while.
I had to go to the city Monday for my mammogram. It rained all the way down and back. Everything was fine which I knew it would be. I was glad to be home because when the semi's passed you. It was hard to see. I don't know why people drive without their head lights. I had them on because it is a state law that if your windshield wipers are going, your head lights are to be on.
The baby quilt is progressing slowly, but I will get it done. Three days until my oldest will be home. We are all anxiously awaiting to see him especially three boys. They are already making plans on what they want him to do with them. Hopefully we can find the time to take a family picture which I would love to have. We haven't had one for quite a while.
Midnight mass is always a beautiful time of the year. We would go and then come home to eat together before heading home. Of course, you never slept late after the kids came because they were always sure to wake you up. I miss it, but I don't want to go by myself.
It is getting better each year, but I still think of my dad who passed a way on Christmas Day. I have lit my candle for all of those in need and said my prayer for all of them. My list keeps growing, buy I don't have to worry about a fire because my candle  is battery operated. It looks so pretty with the flame flickering.
Whether you stay at home or traveling, be safe and have a wonderful Merry Christmas. I won't say don't eat to much because we always do with all of the cookies, candies, and other special food we only eat once a year. You know you have to have chocolates.
Enjoy family and friends and if you know someone who needs just a phone call to say Merry Christmas. Do it. It will make them feel good and you too  I need to run. I will be back . Merry Christmas

Are you Ready Yet??

The snow is coming down, and it looks like this outside this morning. I can't tell how much we have got, but they cancelled a lot of schools. Why can't people just slow down when the weather gets like this? The older two grandsons had school today. We haven't even got that much yet.
My day will be spent working on a baby quilt. It is progressing better then I had thought. I didn't have one even started so it will take a little while. I never keep track of my time when I am making something because I know people wouldn't buy it that way.
Yesterday I got to go to school for my grandson's program. They portray famous Missourian. They have their board about their lives and dressed as close to how they might have dressed during their time. My grandson was J. C. Penney founder of the J C Penny store.I stay until school was out and then took him home. The first thing he did when he got into the car was turn the electric seat on. He told me my car sure had a lot of bells and whistles.
We had to do the chores when we got to their house because he had basketball practice. They were to start a tournament tonight but I don't know if they will have it or it will be cancelled.
The only thing I helped with was taking care of the dogs. He did the rest and then we did his exercises because he has physical therapy tomorrow at Children's MercY Hospital.
The update on hubby is that he is stable for him. The portal vein in his liver is block for one thing and she did adjust some of the medications, but we have had 15 years since he first became sick. We are having Christmas Eve with him at the nursing home. All the kids will be there except our oldest who will be in the 27th for a few days which will really go fast. We have stretch Christmas over several days. We want to take a family picture while everyone is home. We haven't done that for quite a while.
I thought my let it snow tea towel fit the day really well because that is what it is doing. My custom order is on their way to a new home in time for Christmas, They should arrive Friday. I still have a few Christmas cards to address, but shopping I took the easy way out and just got gift cards.
It was just a little of this and a little of that. Take care. Have a joyous season. Merry Christmas

SAY A PRAYER TONIGHT

Say a prayer tonight for us that the ultra sound that they are doing tomorrow is still the same and that the liver hasn't got worse. I know that the blood work shows that a few more things are out of sink.
I know that we have been fortunate for so very long since he first got sick. They changed to a new nurse practitioner at the nursing home from the one that I liked
We won't know the results until we go back down the following week to see the doctor. I just hope  the weather holds. I know I have to be at the nursing home beore 7 to go with him.
I thought I would show you the jewelry box that my 15 year old grandson made. It is made out of maple and cherry. I thought he did a beautiful job. He will sell it if you need a Christmas present for some one. His mom made two small baskets for a charity auction and they were surprised at what they sold for. One was 45.00 and the other 55.00. All total they made about $3000.00 for the charity. The items sold were all made by the woodworkers guild members.
My craft shows are over and now I can just take care of my etsy shop. My chicken pattern has sold as quick as I get them done. The weekend was busy.My middle grandson's basketball team lucked out and won by 1 point. My youngest grandson got 3rd in the space derby at cub scouts.
A few of them including my youngest grandson is ringing the bell at the mall next weekend for the Salvation Army.He did it last year. It is teaching them how to volunteer for their community service badge.
Well I better close for tonight as I have to be up early in the morning. Take care.

YEAR FLYING

It is the first day of December and you wonder just where has the year gone. It is as though you have blinked your eyes and the month is gone. It has been a trying year for me. I have made it with God's help.
Thanksgiving was a busy day with spending time with the family at my Son's house. I had a lot of fun watching all three grandsons. We ate entirely to much. Have you seen the Ding Dong cake that was being posted on Face Book? Well my daughter made it. It was yummy, but she learned that her non-stick pans do stick. It was yummy anyway. Some of the meal was traditional, but some was not.
The afternoon was spent trying to get a Christmas list from the boys. We only buy for them. I am toying with the idea of giving them money to spend on what they want. They are getting so hard to buy for as they get older. They already have to much or it is out of my price range.
I have been busy getting ready for my last Craft Show which is this next Sunday 9-3. Then a Christmas party after it across the street for the saddle club.
My bunny table runner is on it's way to a new home down under. Whatever of my new towels I don't sell at the craft show will be going into my etsy shop.
I am on my 4th towel since last Monday. Depending on the design how long it will take me to embroider it. My rooster, hen, and baby are coming along nicely. .
We will celebrate Christmas on the 24th at the nursing home, then Christmas Day more quiet, and then the 27th when my oldest comes home for a visit. If he had known sooner, he could have flown home for Thanksgiving, but he wasn't about to spend big bucks for only 4 days. He had a 4 day weekend.
The boys are anxious as we all are. The younger two was helping feed the horses, walk the dogs with my son when I left to go to the nursing home. I spent the day at home yesterday. I needed to catch up on some rest.
Well I wanted to let you know that I am still here. I will be busy for a few more days then I will try to get around to visit more. Have a wonderful day. Be careful shopping because we have those who like to take advantage of people and steal things that don't belong to them. I will take a day when someone can go with me if I really want to shop.
Take care.

Busy Weekend

The weekend was very busy with a craft show and two ballgames in one day with my middle grandson. They played in a tournament. The coach wanted them to get their feet wet as the saying goes.
My craft show was the one I have done with my oldest grandson for the last 4-5 years. People could not believe that he made his wooden animal puzzles. He started when he was ten. I would love to have his wooden jewelry box that is made out of cherry and maple. The ribbon that is made on top of the box is a maple and cherry stripe. I would like to try them in my etsy shop, but he won't say yes or no. We both made more then expenses which made me happy and I spent the day with him.
We got back in time to go to the basketball game. I just didn't realize what was involved in the basketball tournament. We started at one location and after winning had to go to another location. I didn't go on Friday night because I would have never made it up the next morning. They won 1 game out of three. They have a decision to make whether they want to play in two leagues both on Saturday. It would take up most of the day.
Have you made your Thanksgiving plans yet? I am going to go to my son's outside of town. My contribution will be the crescent rolls. I don't know what the rest of the menu will be, but we always have more food then we can eat. I asked dad if he wanted me to bring him some and he said no. He said he ate to much at the family Thanksgiving Dinner at the nursing home.
If you travel, please be safe. Two senior boys from my grandson's high school lost their lives in a drowning accident. They were hunting and drowned in a farm pond. Nobody will ever know exactly what happen, but it was a shock for all. Even those of us who didn't know the boys can feel the lost. My grandson knows both of them. They were going to have counselors at the high school today and tomorrow for those to talk with about the accident. It is always hits harder when it is a child regardless of age.
My goal for after the holidays is to blog more often. I miss being able to spend the time visiting I would like to do. I will make this short. I have one more craft show to do with my daughter-in-law. She had planned on going to the last one, but instead needed to take care of the basketball boy.
Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

A day to say thank you to all of the veterans and military personnel that have served and still serving to keep our country safe for us.
I know what it is to be a military mom, sister, and aunt to have family members in harm's way. We keep saying prayers that they return safely.
Today is a day to curl up in front of the fire with a good book or embroidering or what ever. We didn't get much snow. but we did get black ice. It isn't warming up very fast. I need to replenish my tea towels.I did
a craft show on the spur of the moment on Sunday. It turned out to be a pretty good show for me. My next one will be in a couple of weeks. The first thing that sold was my horses tea towel. I have sold a lot of them. Why do people want to know where you find your supplies unless they want to try to copy your work? I just know if I want something variegated I make my own.
My grandson with his high point buckle. He was so proud of it. The second picture is up close of it.  I went to their house Sunday evening to celebrate his dad's birthday and had supper with them. I got to see him go through his exercises that they do. For one he sits in mom's rocking chair and shoots a Nerf gun at targets. One was sitting close to my foot he like shooting at that one. hehe.
I went to Kansas City with them yesterday. I am glad that we went yesterday. We probably wouldn't have gone today. We went to the Corner cafe for lunch. I brought home a sticky bun that I split with my son. It was so big that you could have made four meals out of it.
It was a good day, but when that temperature dropped it was quick. Enough of this and that. I am feeling much better, but for a few days I felt horrible. I hadn't been sick like that for a long time.
Hope you all are well and if you have the bad weather and don't have to be out. Then stay home. Saying prayers for all of those in need. Take care

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween to all of the ghost and goblins. Are you ready to go Trick or Treat tonight? It isn't a very good day for it. We are sitting at a whopping 38 degrees. We might get to 40's don't know. We are suppose to see 25 which will help the allergies. It won't help when you got other things going on.
I call the doctor's office waiting to hear back from them. I hope I don't have to make the drive, but I will. I only know I have coughed so hard that I made my stomach hurt. Walgreen's Robitussin Dm and cough
drops doesn't touch the cough. They just called back. I just need to go to the pharmacy and pick it up the prescriptions.
It started off like my allergies, but it has turned into something else. I am at home to day not doing much. Nothing taste good, but I am eating I already got a lecture from my family.
I haven't felt this way for a long time.
Enough about that. My Halloween tea towels are wishing you all to have fun and if you go out just to be safe. The kids are going out for a while, but my lights will be off.
We have succeeded in getting hubby into physical therapy where he is trying to walk more and they are working with him back down stairs. At least that was accomplished by the doctors visit. We were suppose to have a cd x-ray to take with us I found out at the doctors office. I did get the report read to me yesterday at the family care meeting. They didn't even put that in his paperwork that we took to the doctor. They should have done that.
I just wanted you to know that I am alive just a little under the weather. Hopefully I will fill better soon.
I am making this a little short. You all take care.

I'm Back

I got my Internet back up and running. You never know how much you miss it until it is down. I got rid of my house phone and dsl. I got tired of being told it was always my phone line that was causing my problem. I just use my cell phone now for my main phone. Don't you get tired of all of the scams, political, and sales people trying to sell you something or being asked how you are going to vote. It is no body's but my own business how I vote.

I am going to try to catch up with some more of you. Do you ship international? How do you handle the expense? I know it was a learning experience when I shipped to Ireland. I guess you are never to old to learn. My custom order is on its way to a new home so I have a little time to myself. Not as much as I would like, but you can't have everything.
We had heavy fog this morning and then we warmed up this afternoon. It was cool of a morning and warmed up in the afternoon back when hubby and I got married 51 years ago this past Sunday. It stayed that way while we were on our honeymoon. You wonder where all of the years have gone with roughly having a little over two months left in this one.
Parent teacher conferences are over and all the boys made the A-B honor roll. Grandma is very proud of them and their achievements. They had the day off from school, but it was dad's day off so he had the boys. My youngest spent the night with his other grandparents so he could sleep late.
I just thought I would let you know I am back. Take care and have a great weekend. I had a good one last weekend. I went to a luncheon on Friday with 13 of my high school classmates and then to a dinner on Saturday evening honoring classes from 1935-1960 when the high school closed. I saw hubby before I rode up with one of my classmates. That was really nice.

My Weekend

Today I spent a cold damp day at Pumpkin Fest where the club sold Dutch Oven Cobblers for three days. Starting on Friday afternoon and evening. The weather didn't cooperate with us that is for sure. The wagon was one of the decorations at the Pony Express Museum. If you love history and visit our city, it is one of the places that you should check out along with the Patee House Museum located close by. Our city has the history for people who enjoy that kind of things.
Today we sold quite a bit of coffee, hot peach, berry-berry, cherry, pumpkin cobblers and apple crisp all cooked in a dutch oven with the charcoal. You could have ice cream on top if you wanted. It hit the spot while it was still hot. The weather didn't cooperate this year with mist part of the day and started to rain as it was coming to the end.
I couldn't get a close up and get all the pumpkins in that were carved by a lot of people. They lit the wall on Friday night, but the evenings was just to cold and damp for me to go and try to get a picture. They had a lot of bales of hay for people to sit on to watch them. You could take a carriage ride if you wanted to do so. My oldest grandson helped take the   pictures. I have some more of the wild west characters that were roaming the grounds that I will show you in another post, but I need permission first.
The clubs booth was up the street behind the horse and carriage. I thought about taking a ride, but didn't.
Yesterday I spent the day at the Nursing home. They had a car, truck, and motorcycle show. A lot of them brought back the memories. They had free hot dogs, chips, drinks and ice cream. It was warmer and you had sunshine, but I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures. Hubby could watch the cars, trucks, and motorcycles arrive out his window. It filled the area where we normally park when we go visit. It was cool to start with frost, but the sun warmed it up later.
It was an enjoyable day taking hubby outside several different times. I just wish I had taken my camera so I could have taken a few pictures of the neat looking cars.
My son and grandson came and picked me up today so I didn't have to drive. Needless to say I brought cobbler home with me and if I want it warm all I have to do is warm it up in the microwave.
It sure wasn't this kind of weather 18 years ago when our daughter got married. It really doesn't seem that long ago. This year has absolutely flown by and I don't really know where it has gone. This month is half gone already.
I hope you all had a good weekend. I would just liked to have seen a little more sunshine. We even managed to have some rain in the mix. You all take care and have a good week.

Chilly Weather

Fall is definitely in the air with the cool temperatures that we have been having the last few mornings. We just haven't been warming up as much as I would like in the afternoon. We have birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate this month ours included.
I thought I would show you some of my latest things that I have been working on to keep the fingers busy so that I don't have time to dwell on other things.
You had several things that you could do this weekend. You could go watch Nascar racing at the Kansas Speedway or you could go watch the Royals play this evening. The Chiefs were playing in California today.
If you have been watching the Royals play, you have had some late nights. The last time I looked they were up 6-2. We shall wait and see if they win.
Halloween and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. I have been working on first one thing and then another. I want to get some more Christmas ones made.
The fund-raisers have started. My youngest grandson is selling popcorn for boys scouts. My oldest is sell Fruit, cheese, and cookie dough for FFA. I don't know about my middle one if he is selling anything or not. I try to get something from each one so that I am not leaving one out.
My middle one  turns 10 later this month. He wants to take a trip for his birthday. He hasn't told me where he would like to go yet. It is so amazing what they come up with now days.
I have been reading on Medicare and you for the coming year. Do you ever feel like you are reading something that when you get through you still don't understand what you read? It talks in circles, sometimes I think it is done on purpose so you get confuse and will give up.
Trying to understand what is covered and what is not is something else. I know that our prescription d part of our insurance has almost double. I wonder what our other insurance is going to do. They say they don't want to put people in the poor house, but with all of the prices going up they sure are.

This last picture is of the broadcast crew from our last Friday night games. They did barrels, poles, and down and back and had fun. The kids got to tell them their times. The two boys are my grandson. The blonde hair one is my youngest who is bigger then his cousin. They had fun

Take care and have a good week.

Catching Up

Matt and his horse Fergie have had an exceptional Buckle Series. He doesn't do the games or it could have been more trophies. Watching him do the Novice Extreme Challenge put the end to the horse riding at our arena. He learn what Fergie didn't like, but she didn't buck with him. It was interesting to see what horses would do what was asked of them and what horses wouldn't. Several didn't like the big panda bear that they had to side pass to and put a cap on his head.  The evening was finished off with the awards dinner where trophies, ribbons, and belt buckles were presented to the kids.
What he accomplished makes grandparents and parents very proud of him. His dad being the President of the club got to present all of the trophies and belt buckle to him which made it all the more better. I found out when I went with them to his last appointment how to read his face when he was having a dizzy spell. It is getting a little better, but he won't be through all of his sessions with the physical therapist until after the first of the year.
Jake and his partner got a trophy each for team of two barrels. The picture is of them waiting their turn to ride. She has two horses one that she shows elsewise and her game horse. Jake did his Johnny Fry leading the Pony Express 5 K run on Saturday. Tomorrow is his first contest of the year in soils. He says that he is ready for it and I am going to pick him and his buddy up in the morning to take them to school so they don't miss the bus.
Their bus to the house is not reliable at times. It is either early or late. Plus he didn't really want to wear his contest clothes on the bus to get them dirty.
Dad even got to ride Saturday afternoon on Charley. He had been farmed out this summer to a lady who gave riding lessons. The girls loved him. First one and then another were riding him around. He liked all of the attention.
I took a "me" day today. My day started off with a thunderstorm with lots of lightening and rain.I even lost my electricity for a little bit. I know the lightening sounded awfully close to the house. I don't sleep good when that happens. They say that we can expect some more storms tonight. That is just what I need.
I have spent three days up with hubby. We now have his eye injection scheduled for a week from today. We are trying that first to see if it works before they do surgery. They did a x-ray of his knee today to see if we can figure out why it won't support him at times. We have an appointment later in the month with the doctor for that. At least he hasn't been sick for a few days. Somebody brought a bug into them. He wasn't the only one that was sick.
The fingers have been busy to keep from getting stiff. I have to get my pictures taken of my latest towels. It gives me something else to think about.
A special prayer going out to those that are suffering from that nasty word  Cancer. I found out today that two of my classmates's cancer has returned. You just never know when that will happen. This month is Cancer Awareness month.
The Royals, Chiefs, both won their ballgame. The first time making the playoffs in 29 years. We have Nascar coming to Kansas City this weekend. Just a lot of activities lately. The Royals stadium was packed last night looking at the pictures on the news.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. Have a good one and take care.

Fall is here

It is official that fall has arrived. The year is flying and I really don't know where it has going. It is going way to fast whether we are ready or not. It is going to be cool this evening again. My grandson is here mowing my yard hopefully for the last time of the year. He is going to portray Johnny Frye for the Pony Express 5K Run with Fergie again this coming Saturday. He likes doing it.
I went yesterday with my dil and grandson to Children's Mercy Hospital for his physical therapy treatment. It will either make them wore out or bouncy off the wall as the saying goes. It really wound him up. He got some new exercises to do before he goes back. He was swinging from the ropes before we left and dropping on a mat. I can see what my dil meant by somethings after watching. The physical therapist says that he has lived with the problem for a long time and has now come to the point where he gets physically sick. They won't address his hearing issue until she gets through with him. If I get another opportunity to go, I will go with them again. He sure knows his way around down there. I would get lost. The people that work there that I met were awesome and so caring.
Hubby was really sick yesterday going both ways. He was still keeping soup down today. They said that his color was better, but yesterday was bad.  Somebody brought a bug into the nursing home. Why do people either come to work sick or visit a patient that way is beyond me?
My craft show wasn't that good Saturday. There was just way to much competition. I did come home and go to the Southside Festival with my daughter and her family along with one of her friends that I hadn't seen for a long time. The only thing that my youngest grandson wanted to do was ride the ponies. At least they had a bigger horse for the bigger kids to ride. After seeing how they did the vendors, that is one craft show I wouldn't do. You would have to have a tent which would be hot. Theirs is a 3 day event.  It was an enjoyable evening.   I didn't spend much money.
Tomorrow is the eye doctor appointment. We find out if they are going to do injections into hubby's eye or if it will require surgery. Both of them scare me because I don't even like putting drops in my eyes, but I do so I can't imagine what it will be like that they are going to do to him.. I don't know what he would do if he lost his eye sight. I am praying for the best.
My grandson is through mowing the yard so I need to bring this to a close so that I can take him home. Have a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy the fall weather. Take care.

Missing

I have been missing for a few days. Just to many things going on in my life right at the moment. Dealing with hubby's eye problem. He has an eye that is blurring. They say the film that covers your eye has a bubble in it. They are talking about injections or worse case scenario is surgery, but would not be invasive. We meet with them the 24th. Of course, it makes you worry as if I don't have enough to worry about.
Horse show season is winding down. The rain has not helped us in that respect. I think the boys are going to one October 4th, but not positive. Their last one wasn't a bad day. Jake and his partner have won team barrels the last three shows for which we are very proud of them. He did his volunteer job of leading horses while kids rode this past Sunday. They do a good job in that respect. They had 4 horses there, but he did not have his own horse. He will be portraying Johnny Frye again for the Pony Express 5K run. Mom is having him a shirt and vest made so that they don't have to borrow one.
Matt figured a new way to open and close the gate for trail. He just lets Fergie use her nose. It is not the right way, but the judge gave him points for doing something different. Everybody was talking about him. Of course, they do anyway. You never know what he will do. You need to watch out if he has the camera taking pictures when you least expect it.
The fingers have been very busy getting ready for the first fall craft show. It is suppose to rain and probably will because it is Southside's Fall Festival. It starts Friday and goes through Sunday. I don't know what this year will bring being it is the same time as the festival, but last year I had a nice day.  The parade is Saturday. Ethan's scout troop will have a float in it. It will be televised. I will have to watch it when it is reran later in the evening.
They wanted to have part of the craft show out on the church grounds, but I don't think that will happen. I am inside. I only do inside shows when I go because I don't tolerate the heat very good. Only now with some of the temperatures we are having with the damp weather, it can make arthur hurt.
I don't know which is worse.
Depending on where you are at, it is raining today. It is only 64 and not suppose to warm up much more. You wonder if we are going to have an early winter. Some say that we are going to have a bad one, but you never know. I think sometimes they just guess at the weather.
I will try to pop in and out. I have been doing some reading, but not leaving comments. You all take care.

Storms

Taken by my niece while camping.
You don't need saddles to do grand entry do it bare back taken by MA Donaldson
My niece and her husband went camping and this was one of the pictures that she took. I thought it was so pretty.
My day started off with another round of thunder and rain. At least we didn't have the wind and lightening. Just the heavy rain which made it hard to see if you were driving. I didn't do my errands until this afternoon when the sun came out. It warmed up to the 80's after starting in the 60's.
My Youngest grandson at the Royals
You don't have to have a saddle to do the grand entry. Teenagers, you never know what they will do. We have several that either have their permit or driver's license. I don't  know if I am ready for that or not. I know that it makes me feel old. Hopefully the arena will dry enough that we can get both Saturday and Sunday in this coming weekend. Saturday is a fun show to help with therapeutics riders so they can have fun too. We will have raffles and other fun stuff to help so they can continue to let the kids ride. There is always one show for them. They will have their time with their helpers to be in the arena.
My youngest grandson went to the Kansas City Royal's game. They might make it to the playoff's this year. It is the best that they have played in quite some time. They even had some games that they had sold out crowds. They were playing when the storm went through on Sunday evening.  I sure don't like those kind of storms. I just say lots of prayers.
My middle grandson helping at the horse show taken by MA Donaldson
My middle grandson didn't do games at the last show, but he wanted to help so he put the flags in the can for the flag race. He likes being out there and even help put the barrels in the arena for the barrel race. He may be little, but he has the muscles. He didn't really have the bruise that you would expect when Fergie bucked with him causing him to hit his saddle horn. The weekend is suppose to be cooler which I hope they are right, but we will wait and see if we get them in.
I spent the day with hubby and thought maybe I got things squared away, but I think I am partially getting lip service. I will give it a few days, but I am still not happy. I still think one is giving his meds with a med instead of water. I know it was given with orange juice that had the med mixed into it. Plus you don't give a diabetic orange juice to take his medication with. Why can't they just do the job like they are suppose to?
Sending prayers to those in need. You can never have to many. I still think that is what has kept us going for so long. Hubby got sick in November 1999. Saying prayers that the right decisions were make.
You all take care and have a wonderful rest of the week.

FROM MY HOUSE TO YOURS

I thought I had better check in so that you knew I was still alive. I have just been a little busy with everything that is going on in my life. Hubby has been sick so needless to say I have been at the nursing home with him. Doctor appointment for me, horse show weekend, and a custom order to finish.
We had a very stormy night with thunder, lightening, wind, and rain. Some lost their electricity and we have trees down in the city. I was lucky and didn't lose my electricity. I know I didn't sleep very good with the lightening sounding to close for comfort. After having lightening strike the house a long time ago, I have never slept good when we have that kind of a storm. I just pray alot.
At least we finally got a weekend of horse show done that had previously been rained out the 23rd and 24th of August. It was so hot on Saturday and the boys weren't showing so I took Matt with me. He got to spend the day with grandma. We went out for lunch which I let him chose. He wanted Rib Crib, surprised grandpa with a visit in the afternoon, he played games on my computer, and went to get ice cream before we with back to the horse arena. His ice cream was chocolate with a brownie chopped up in it with some chocolate fudge on top mixed in. He loves chocolate. I had what was called a very berry ice cream. It had strawberries, blue berries, and raspberries in vanilla ice cream. Yummy.
Sunday was show day which grandma always loves watching. Matt showed them a new way to close the gate in trail. You let your horse use her nose to close the gate. Leave it to him. He got a first in western pleasure and in trail. He doesn't do games, but helped by putting the flag in the can for flags game. Brother and his partner got 1st in team barrels, 3rd in egg and spoon, and I didn't write down all of his times which I know that I should. It was a good time. Jake and Bailey did grand entry with Cleo and Fergie bare back. They just decided on the spur of the moment to do it that way. The horses were my grandsons and shows how good they can be.
Monday, I had to go to the city for a doctor appointment. Everything was o.k. except for cholesterol, he would really like for me to take meds for it, but I hate taking medications. I have to make up my mind what I am going to do. I didn't tell hubby because he would try to help me make up my mind. It has to be my decision. My Ekg was good and I had a good blood pressure after making the drive down.
Hubby has been sick this past week, I think that it was because of how they were giving his medications. They had some that was giving them with a medication, plus his body is still trying to adjust to the new medication that is lowering his blood sugars and ammonia level. It is not use to them. Really and truthfully it was very unusual that he function as well as he had with them so high. I just know that I will take it further if I need to do so because giving him a medication for nausea doesn't tell us why he is getting sick. .
The fingers have been busy and have to stay busy so that they don't get stiff. It is a pain to get older. You are probably tired of this and that so I had better close. I am waiting for my oldest grandson to put a belt on my rider and then we are going to work in the yard.
Have a great day and enjoy what is left of a three day weekend. Take care.

HOT WEATHER IS BACK

The sun was setting as the horse show was coming to a close. It was a beautiful day cool in the morning to where I wore a sweater until after noon. It was cloudy and damp that morning. We had cowboy church then it got started. Breakfast was a piece of black raspberry cheese cake that my dil brought me along with a cup of coffee. What a way to start the day. The cook shack had cinnamon rolls along with the hot dogs, polish sausage, and cheeseburgers and hamburgers. Even had a cherry pie which really went fast.
You could tell how the wind was blowing by the flag that my grandson was carrying. It makes it look good when they stand out like that. Cleo doesn't object to the flag nor does she object to running. He did games with her. His partner and him  got first place in team barrels. It was their first time of getting first place which made him happy. He even placed in egg and spoon. Little brother doesn't do that because he says there is just to many out there to try to hold his  egg and spoon and watch so he doesn't get ran over by another horse.
This is the first show that there was enough volunteer's so that dad could get into the act by showing Fergie in showmanship and Cleo in western pleasure.
It was the first time that he had shown a horse in two years. There was a few parents that got into the act and of course the kids were cheering for them. It was a fun day for all.
His son was a little bent out of shape that dad was showing against him, but he got over it. Dad just wanted to ride something he hadn't got to do for quite a while because normally at a show he is the ring steward for the judge.
I had to show you a picture of father and son riding together. It is something that I haven't had the privilege of seeing before. Son gave us some excitement. Fergie bucked with him which is something that I had never seen her do. Still don't know why. His comment with a big smile on his face was "grandma, I stayed on". He had a bruise on his stomach today where he caught the saddle horn, but after he got her stopped. The one running the gate walked very quietly out and got a hold of Fergie's halter and walked him out of the arena. He got back on her later and rode some more. They wanted her to know she was not going get away with that.
I thought I would show you my latest of the things that I have completed. My witch needs darker hair if I do her again, but she still turned out pretty well. I have been keeping the fingers busy so that I don't have the time to think about other things. I am working on a set of pillow cases. It is first one thing and another. I even made a small table runner using a tea towel and my horse pattern. I try to not make anything exactly alike.
The kids all started to school. It will take a little while to get back to a routine for me after spending time with them this summer. Last Thursday I spent the day with the older two and the evening with my youngest. I was amazed how much they are growing. My youngest grandson is  4ft 9in and only 9 years old. I know they grow up fast.  I need to bring this to a close. Have a wonderful week and try to stay cool. Take care.
