BOOTH IN PROGRESS

I got to start working on my booth today and made very little progress in my opinion. I had to many things going on that was a necessity. I had to go to the pharmacy and that was a shell shock because we are now in the donut hole with my hubby's medicine. His insulin is outrageous that is for sure, but I won't go into that today.
These pictures are showing what I have got done. The lap quilt in the first picture I have changed. It kept getting looked at, but nothing else I put a purple border on it and I think it helped the looks of it.
I have had such a horrible time with work Friday, It seemed as though nothing went right. I didn't get all of my statements finished so I will have to do the rest of them Monday when I go back. So much for that I was glad when it was time to go home.

Nothing like changing the type in the middle of the stream. For some reason my computer doesn't like me this evening , I am having a hard time to get it to do what I want it to do.
I thought I had a picture up close of my pot holders that I got completed to show you my penguin, snowman, and bells, but I have search on my computer where I thought I saved them to to only not be able to find them.
I will post that for another day. The weather sure isn't cooperating. We got a shower last night, but it didn't really cool it off.
Tomorrow will be a day spent with family and I am really looking forward to it. Seeing my brothers and sisters. What is so strange is that we don't live that far from each other. It just seems like everyone is to busy.

The Wednesday tea towel is one of my new ones that I just got done of my blue birds. I thought they turned out pretty good. I have spent quite a little time this week of embroidering and marking things. I have got to figure out to deactivate some of the things in my etsy shop because I am putting some of the things I have listed in my booth. You always learn something new everyday. My last picture is of my quilt after I added the border. If you want to see the difference go to my etsy shop, and check it out. I think I am going to do that to the rest of the ones that I don't have a border on.
The next three weekends, we have birthdays. My youngest grandson on the 7Th, his mother's , 13Th and mine is one the 19Th. It is funny because she had Ethan six days before her birthday and I had her six days before my birthday.
Grandma is feeling old because all of the boys will be starting school very shortly. My youngest grandson can't start kindergarten until next year, His birthday is 5 days late. Matt will be in kindergarten and Jake in the 6Th grade. 6Th thru 8Th is now classified as Junior High.
Well I hope to have more to show you another day. Have a great day.

Hooray Tomorrow is Friday

I am thankful tomorrow is Friday and then the busy weekend.
It looked like it was going to rain when I got off work and cool it down, but no such luck.
The Kansas City football team has officially arrived in town for training camp. We have so many things going on in town right now. We have a women tennis tournament going on, a ASA 18 and under National Softball tournament, and the Chief's training camp. You can have your Choice to what you go to that is for sure.
We went out and helped our daughter-in-law take a car out for our son to have tomorrow when he gets in. Then we had dinner with her and the two boys. It was an enjoyable evening. We ate dinner at a restaurant call Ma & Pa's. It is good home style cooking and if you are ever in Cameron, Missouri you need to shop. They are right off of Interstate 35 and they have 25 cent coffee.
I will post pictures of my booth and family hopefully on the next post. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Where Has the Month Gone

The month is just about gone and I have no idea where it went. It seems like anymore you blink and the day is gone. We had a little break of the heat, but not much. The rest of the week is going to be very hectic for me with the mall scheduled to open the first of August.
I am in the process of tagging my items that go into the booth. I didn't get much accomplished tonight as I was late getting home from work and by the time that supper was over with the evening was gone.
The Kansas City Chiefs start training this Friday at our local college campus. They are hoping it will bring a lot of people to our city and help our economy. That is why they want to get the mall open because they feel it will bring people to check it out and hopefully buy.
We had a very tragic fire last evening in a Senior Apartment building where two lost their lives. It was the same apartment building that my mother-in-law lived in before her death so I knew quite a few of the people who lived there. They don't know exactly what caused it, but I want to know why the smoke detector and the sprinkler system didn't go off. They were around and changed the smoke detector batteries when my mother-in-law lived there. The majority of the people living there were in the 70s. 80s, and 90's in age. The couple that died were going to be celebrating their 68Th wedding anniversary in 4 months. They were 89 and 86 years old. It maybe was a blessing because they both went together. It could have been worse.
This coming Sunday will be our family reunion and I am looking forward to seeing my brothers and sisters. We will see how many of the 10 we can get there. Thursday night I will pick up my daughter-in-law and two grandsons after they drop off the car where my son works. He will get home sometime Friday from Oklahoma City, but not knowing the time it will be easier for him and her. If it would happen to be late, she wouldn't have to keep the boys up.
Well it is time to close. Enjoy the rest of the week.

IT'S FRIDAY

It is 8 o'clock in the evening and we are still at 90 degrees. Today has been absolutely horrible with the heat. We are suppose to have some rain move in later this evening.
It makes you think when you see cars along the side of the road. I wouldn't want to break down in this heat. I know I had to go outside some at work today and I was anxious to get back inside that is for sure.
Our youngest grandson made it to the zoo and he wanted to bring home the baby giraffe. He thought that should be no problem. He has zoo animals on his farm instead of the cows, horses, and pigs.
It won't be long until school starts again. I really don't know where the summer has gone. This month just got started and it is gone. It is almost like time is flying with every blink of the eye. I
was so glad it was Friday and I have a couple of days a way. I am shopping tomorrow for some shelving that I need for my booth that I am opening. It will be work in progress for a while until I get it the way I want. It is painted and ready for me to start getting it ready for the opening. Well I must close for this evening. Have a wonderful weekend.

Lower Temperatures

We started the day off with being in a severe thunderstorm watching until 9 A.M. At least I got to work without getting wet, it doesn't feel very good to sit in the air-conditioning with wet clothes and shoes. Umbrella's don't work very good when the rain is coming at an angle and the angle is in the direction you are walking. We are in the 70's this evening and in the low 80's today with some cloud cover. We have had storms popping up all over since about 4 P.M. this afternoon. Predicting for more tonight and tomorrow so we will wait and see.
Tonight we went to dinner with our daughter-in-law and our two grandson's for her birthday. Our treat for her as we never know what to get her. Our son got her a dutch oven cookbook because she loves to cook and has already some recipes that she wants to try. We have a family reunion coming up the first of the month. It is a tradition that my parents started when they were alive. She is going to make one of the recipes that she wants to try and take it to the family get together. We will see how many of the six brothers and four sisters get together with our extended family. We have it in a senior center that we rent for the day because there is to many with help problems and can't be out in the heat.
I have been busy designing on paper how I think I want my booth to start. I have been busy on that and not on the computer as much. Plus I have been sharing with our son. He is on it quite a bit, and I usually wait until he goes to bed. The house is usually quiet and I have some time to myself. I have needed a little down time this evening with starting a new medication all because of an insurance company. I won't go there this evening. I will close tonight because I want to visit my friends in blog land to see what they have been doing. Have a good day.

Sunday Afternoon

The afternoon is quiet at the present time, but the weather is just right for the pop up storms. We took a drive earlier today to see some of the countryside and get my hubby out of the house while it was in the 70's which wasn't bad after yesterday.
I took some roads that I didn't have a clue where we would end up. You just hope that sooner or later it will get you back to where you want to be.
I went yesterday and looked at a new antique mall which is in the process of being finished. It is really close to my house. I have been toying with the idea of opening a booth again for quite a while and put my lap quilts in it for one thing. You only have to commit for three months to see how it goes. One of the things that I liked was the idea that it was handicapped accessible. The isles are wide and you would have no problems getting a wheelchair around. You get to decide how to decorate. You could even paint it yourself, but I don't have the time for that. The location is definitely in a good spot. I made the decision to rent a booth, which I have three walls that I can hang my lap quilts on that would really display them. They have been looked at a lot, but I haven't sold any on my etsy shop. I will keep some things in my etsy shop, but I am also going to try the other. I don't want to shut my shop down all of the way because I have 105 who have marked my shop as a favorite. I just wish they would buy.
They will be opening the 1st of August. It is exciting and I have some ideas of what I want to do.
I talked to my son, who is in Oklahoma City for school with his job. It has been just as hot there as it has been here. They went to the Cowboy Hall of Fame yesterday and spent three hours. They had taken the trolley and then the bus. The last bus was at 5:00, and if you missed it you were going to have problems getting back. They had barbecue for supper and he said it was really good. They closed it down at 7 P.M. in the evening so you ate early in the day. He said they got there at 4:30. The price was right for the amount of food that you got. He had a pound of meat and two sides. Their instructor had just a pound of baby back ribs and they were so good. The location wasn't the best area especially after dark, but the barbecue was great. I don't know if any of you watch the show Diners, Dives, and Drives on the Food Channel, but I saw this place on there. I enjoy watching it especially if he is doing the show from where you are going.
The weather channel shows more storms popping up, if they hold together. We had some this morning early. Have a wonderful day.

TGIF

The heat the last couple of days has really been hard on me with going in and out of air-conditioning at work. Yesterday the heat index was 110 degrees. We had a storm come through after midnight that cooled it down a little, but not a lot. I slept through the storm that included wind, thunder, lightening and the rain.
I saw some tree limbs down as I was going to work this morning. I know you drink more water because it is hot and then you have to make the trip to the bathroom. I am being good like my family told me that I had to drink more. I have a habit of not drinking that much at times.
I am wanting a quiet weekend of taking it easy because it is suppose to be hot again. The only thing I know that I really have to do is go and pick up my new blood pressure medicine. My insurance company won't pay for the medication I was taking. It is something else when you get told what You have to take instead of what is prescribed for you. I am afraid that it is only going to get worse.
My grandsons are so looking forward to this weekend. The youngest is going to the zoo in Omaha with his mommy and daddy. The older two are going to Union Station in Kansas City to see the dinosaur display with their mommy and some friends. My middle one, Matt, can pronounce all of the names and corrects me when I try to say them. You never know what they are going to like, but they have been so fortunate to be expose to a lot of things today that we never had the opportunity to do.
Well it is getting late so I need to close for now. Have a great day.

SUMMER IS HERE

Summer is officially here with the temperature in the high 90"s and the heat index in the triple digits.
I wanted to share a couple of pictures taken by our 5 year old grandson, Matt. He took the picture of grandpa and me while we were watching his brother show his horse, Charley in the lead in class.
We didn't even know that he had taken it until I had down loaded the pictures on the computer. It is always easier to see what he has taken that way.
It isn't a very good picture of me, but not bad of grandpa, I was worried a little bit about his grandpa that day being out in the heat. We were shaded some and he wouldn't wear his hat.
I told his mommy that if she needed help the next three weeks for her to call us.
She said that she was going to enjoy the quiet time after the boys go to bed. She will get to watch something that she likes being daddy is gone. Why do men like to change channels all of the time? My hubby does that. You can be watching something and he will change channels right in the middle of it.

This is Jake and Charley right before they went in the area in his halter class. I thought he looked mighty handsome in his new shirt and hat. Why they require long sleeve shirt on a hot afternoon I will never figure that out, but then there is a lot of things that I don't understand, but I guess I will learn.
I was surprised how well Matt handled my digital camera. All I showed him was which button to push when he saw what he wanted a picture of.
We are still in the upper 80's at 9 P.M. so isn't going to cool down that much tonight that is for sure.
Well I must close for now. Take care.

RELAXING SUNDAY

The sun is trying to shine, but we are in for a stormy day and could be severe or at least that is what the weather man said last night.
We spent yesterday watching the oldest two ride there ponies. I kept track of Matt while mommy and daddy were busy with Jake getting him ready to ride.
Matt's day didn't go well. His pony acted up and he fell off. He got right back up and got right back on. He bumped his head on the bleachers because he was trying to sit in the chair crosswise and it tipped over with him. Other then a bump he didn't break any skin. He was so very tired from being there all day and he didn't want to take a nap. He will probably sleep late today maybe.
Jake looked so sharp in his new shirt, his new hat, and daddy found him a new saddle. One that if the horse is taller then his pony he can actually get on without standing on something.
He told me his shirt was awesome and it was. It was awfully hot for long sleeves, but that is what was required for him to show.
Their dad leaves tomorrow for Oklahoma for a three week school with his job. He will stay down instead of making the seven hour drive home on the weekend. It would not give you time to do anything. If you aren't back on Monday for the next week, there goes the job.
I think mom is going to go down while he is there. There is the cowboy hall of fame museum and other things there for them to see. It will let them see areas that will be new to both.
I don't know what I am going to do for sure. I am making something for one of my friends, who has been very helpful to me. It is just about done and I hope she will like it.
Well dad is up and wanting to have breakfast so I had better close for now. Enjoy your Sunday.

All is Quiet for A while

The fireworks have stopped for the evening hopefully. The fourth of July they lasted until 2:00 A.M. which wasn't helping the sleep. Last night they were still going off at Midnight. The police chief was getting bomb barded with questions as why they weren't enforcing the code on illegal fireworks. I just wish after they shot them off in my back acre, they would clean up the mess instead of leaving it for me.

We had over 3" of rain which I was very thankful for otherwise the grass was dry and could cause a problem.
I am just hoping for the weather to cooperate on Saturday. Both boys are showing their horses and of course, grandma wants to go watch. My oldest told me he had a new shirt to wear and it was awesome. It is something when your 11 year old grandson is almost as tall as you.
My boss leaves Thursday on their train trip to Chicago. I would like to take a vacation by train, but my destination would be more to the western states, northwestern states, and Canada. I think you could see so much more by train then you do by car.
I remember going on a trip to Sun Valley with my husband when he was still working. The scenery was beautiful out the window when we flew out so I changed seats with him coming home. What did I see clouds, more clouds, and more clouds. I think that was my punishment for changing seats ha. I really must close as tomorrow is another work day. Everybody have a wonderful day. .

RAINY, RAINY WEEKEND

I thought I would give you a look at some of the things I have been doing lately while waiting at doctor's offices. The first tea towel is called a Bouquet of Roses which is one of my favorite flowers. I tried to grow a purple rose which is my favorite color, but no such luck.
The second tea towel is my blue birds that I have been working on done in different shades of blue. This one is done ready for the border. I know what I want to do to it, but I have to figure out how to do it. I haven't done the border I have chosen for a while.

My penguin I thought turned out rather well. Would you believe between his body and the out-lining I have a whole skein of black in it. I was surprised that it took that much, but it was fun watching him take place.
My tulips is another flower that I like even though I definitely don't have a green thumb. My mother could grow anything. She had a Christmas Cactus that she had in a south window that bloomed the year round. I don't know how she did it, but It was amazing that much for sure. We managed to shoot off the fireworks, but I have never seen so much rain. The neighbors shot theirs in the rain and they were really pretty. We watched the boys have a race in the garage on the hot wheels. They were having a lot of fun. My youngest grandson didn't like the fireworks. We wondered if it brought back memories of the fire that they went through last year when the garage burnt. She took him in the house for while. We used umbrella's to get us back and forth. I hope you all had a safe and wonderful 4Th of July.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July. We will be leaving in a little while to go to our daughters for a picnic supper and fireworks. All the family will be together and that is the most important part for me.
I have got my computer fixed after having a virus trying to attack it. I learned something new. You have to keep the same virus protection on your computer that it was originally set up with. After we down-loaded the same virus protection we got rid of the nasty little bug that was trying to invade us.
The nasty little bug came up as though it was trying to sell you virus protection even though we already had it. I am thankful and now I can visit all of my friends with a worry.

I am showing you a picture of Matt and Daddy right before they were getting to do his event. Daddy led his pony down and around the barrel. He promised the next event he would go faster. It was so much fun to watch the two boys.
They will ride again this next weekend and weather permitting we are going.
We have had some scattered showers today and I hope that it cools it off so that we can enjoy the outdoors, but that we will have to wait and see.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy.
