Where Has the month Gone

I really don't know where this month has gone, but we only have two days left. We took a drive on Sunday. There was some color starting, but it is just a wee bit early I think.
We have been having cool mornings where you need a light jacket or sweater in the morning and the afternoons warm up to where you can go without.
I love the fall of the year and it is my favorite time of the year to travel. I don't think we will get to take a trip, but just some short drives. We went to see the sunflower fields a couple of weeks ago, but it was a disappointment. The flowers were drooped down so there was no fields of bright yellow color that we have seen in the past. I don't know if the weather had something to do with it or if we were to early when we took our drive. We enjoy those trips of just getting into the car with no destination in mind. We just pick a direction, but the weather hasn't cooperated here lately with the rains and storms. When we do go our kids are always asking how many states did we see today.
They say that we are suppose to have a great weekend so I will have to wait and see what it brings. I have come to the conclusion that I don't make any plans, but just decide on the spur of the moment. It is always so much more fun that way.
I must close. You all have a great day.

THE WEEKEND

Today was absolutely beautiful after a rainy, stormy night. We started off at 54 degrees warming up to a nice 75 degrees. It made it nice in that respect for the drive to the city to see the cardiologist. Everything was fine and we don't have to go back for a year unless we have a problem. They don't schedule them that far out. Although some doctors do.
Other then having people pull out in front of you, it wasn't that bad of a drive. It would be a nice night for a football game.
I worked part of the day before we went to the city. I had to put together some statements for some customers who wanted them early. Maybe that means we will get paid earlier. We have been busy which is a good thing.
I thought I would show you a picture of my grandson taken when he was about three. The race car that he is in was his daddy's that he refinished to give you an idea of his painting ability. Our Hallmark store has used his race car in a window display here.
I think the picture is a couple of years ago. My daughter used it as the header for his birthday invitation. He is still really Blondie and such a little character. If you don't want an answer, then don't asked him because he will definitely tell you. They went to the South side Festival where he got to ride the ponies like Matt's, the camel and had lots of fun. He went to the parade on Saturday morning where the highlight was the candy and the horses.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Ours will start cool in the mornings and warm up to be a really nice in the afternoons to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Might even get so we can turn the AC off for a while that would be nice. Take care.

Stormy Weather

We made it home before the heaviest rain hit, but the lightening and dark looking clouds were very visible. I told my husband to watch the clouds and I was going to put the petal to the metal. I set my cruise as fast as I thought I could get away with without getting a speeding ticket. I was glad that there wasn't a lot of traffic.
Our boy had just got home from work at the same time we pulled into the driveway. We hurriedly carried things in out of the car without getting really soaked. The thunder and lightening is still carrying on and the Platte River was running bank full as we crossed it. There will be some flooding, just don't know how much.
We are suppose to drop down into the 50's tonight. The weather all over the United States has been so crazy. I just finished a new project and have it ready to take the picture to show you. I will be anxious for your input as to what you think of it.
The month is almost gone and I don't know really where it has gone. The trees are showing a little color nothing like what other areas have.
The street I normally come home on was closed tonight so I followed the vehicle in front of me hoping that they could show me how to go around it. I found streets that I never knew existed, but I made it home. Afterwards I thought I was a little dumb, but there were other cars behind me so we were all going to be in trouble if the one in front wasn't going where we wanted to go.
I was a little sick after I went to see my booth Saturday. I had an antique car whiskey decanter for sale. I thought at first I had sold it, but unfortunately somehow it got broke. Whoever did it hit it on the bottom shelf where it wouldn't be seen unless you were really looking for it. I thought at first maybe we could fix it, but there are pieces missing. It was my first experience of putting breakables in my booth and I don't think that I will do it again. Well enough rambling for one evening. I want to read a few blogs and then I will need to get to bed. Have a great day.

My Latest Quilt

This will give you an idea of of my latest quilt that I just finished. I am happy the way it turned out if I could only take better pictures. It was fun seeing each square come alive.
We have had a quiet evening tonight instead of doing the usual running. I just wasn't feeling quite up to par. Our son went to meet his sister and her family at the South side festival which started today. It isn't really wheelchair friendly if you get off the sidewalk. They will have a parade in the morning. It will continue through Sunday.
I don't know what my weekend will bring, whether it will be quiet or just what. If the weather is nice, we may just go with nowhere really in mind. Those are the best kind of things to do for sure.
We will be making a trip down to see the heart doctor next Friday. It is hubby's annual checkup. We have been very lucky in that respect.
It was really busy today at work. We were short handed and it turned off to be a really nice day. We started in the 50's and warmed up to 80, but it didn't seem that bad. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I need to go decide what my next project is going to be. Probably tea towels or I have a Lightin McQueen pillowcase to do or I should say two of those for part of two little boys Christmas present.

STORMY WEATHER AGAIN

We made it home before the worse of the storm hit last night, but the lightening put on quite a show as we were driving home. I had gone to the city to get my car back. The repair was covered by warranty. I had a flex fuel car to drive while mine was being fixed. I wasn't to impressed with the gas mileage I got with it. It didn't get near the gas mileage that my car does.
We got over two inches of rain in a very short period of time. It looked like it was raining in sheets. I was home about a half hour before the worse of it hit.
I got a picture of the boys 1st day of school. I will have to scan it so that I can down load it to the computer. I am getting an education that is for sure. They are doing things that we never did as having separate teachers for P.E., Music, and their teacher. We always just had the one, but then that was a long time ago.
I was really thankful it wasn't to hot when we lost our electricity. We were luckier then some with only being off for a little over a hour. They sais that they had a equipment failure. I don't know what really happened. We haven't cooled down very good this evening yet. I know in some areas it was foggy this morning when I went to work. I have to pick my route so that I don't have a problem with school buses. If I get behind them, I will be late to work for sure.
Our day wasn't exactly as planned because of the rain. We couldn't get into a couple of job sites because it was to muddy. They were going to get a tractor and wagon to see if we could transfer the load to it. I would have loved to be a mouse and watched. I don't know where the month is going, but it is really flying fast. Before we know it, it will be Christmas. One of the blogs I was reading they are already doing a countdown to Christmas. I know Hobby Lobby starts putting out Christmas in July.
Well you all have a wonderful day.

QUIET TIME

My weekend hasn't gone as I planned, but it hasn't been that bad. I took my car in for service which I figured wouldn't take that long, but when they were changing the oil they found a transmission leak. Long story short, they ended up keeping my car and gave me a rental to drive. Their transmission man will look at it Monday. It maybe something minor, but it is better to be safe then get stranded along the highway with a problem.
I needed to get home and go pick up meds for my hubby. Well while we were at Sam's, the electricity went off. We were lucky because we had paid for his meds and headed toward the door. All the computers went down. The fun part was getting home because all of the traffic lights quit working causing a traffic jamb. We had no electricity here at home either. I needed gas for the rental car so I had to go see what I could find. We found traffic lights working in the area of Highway 36 and Riverside Road. I knew there was a gas station there and stopped. We went to Cameron, Missouri for dinner and when we got home we had gotten the lights back.
Today has been quiet. We went to see my son and his family. We hadn't seen the boys for a few days. They look like they have grown each time we see them. My oldest grandson is shooting up that is for sure. He has outgrown the shoes that mom bought in June. His jeans are getting to short in the legs. He told me about running the mile and half mile at school in track. I got educated how to play germ ball which is similar to Dodge Ball by Matt. He had been to a birthday party on Saturday. I got told all about that.
I have just about got my quilt finished which I hope will be this week. I put one of my kitty kats in the mail yesterday to its new home in California. I think I am going to try to do the craft show in November at my grandson's school. It benefits the school. He wants me to do it. He said that he would help me. I got to see the wooden puzzles that my oldest grandson had made. I tried to talk him into selling them to help pay for minutes on his cell phone, but I haven't succeeded in doing that yet.
Our weather has been cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon which is definitely like fall. Our leaves haven't starting turning as of yet, but we did see some picking corn. Some corn looks ready and we have even seen some bean fields that look ready. Well I am off to see what my friends are doing here in blog land. Have a great week.

My Friend's 500th blog post

My friend Donna at Brynwood Needleworks is having a wonderful giveaway. She is such a talented lady with her knitting, sewing, quilting, just to mention a few of the many things that she does. She has been an inspiration to me and makes me want to do things better.
You can ask questions and she is more then happy to help you if she can. Her friendship has meant a great deal to me and I enjoy reading her blog. Drop over to see her, she loves visitors as we all do.
To change the subject a little, one more day and then it is the weekend. I look forward to a couple of days off to have a little "me" time which is hard to do. I want to check out a quilt shop that I have heard about and they are only open on Saturday. I tried to go on Sunday to find out they are closed. I want to see what their shop is like and what kind of things that they carry.
We are in the 60's this evening with a fine mist at the present. We will have to wait and see what tomorrow will bring. Have a wonderful weekend.

Crazy Weather

We have had some of the craziest weather. You don't know whether you want to dress for cool or warm weather. We have been starting our days in the 50's and sometime we reach in the low 80's. I thought it was to early to wear layers, but that is the only way you can deal with the crazy weather.
My heart goes out to those that have been having all of the heavy rain and flooding in Texas because of the Hurricane's. I saw that Dallas had a tornado. I think about the family that we have that lives in Texas.
They keep saying the rain is coming our way, but who really knows what direction it is going to go.
My followers are growing and I appreciate each and everyone of you who read my blog. I love comments because that is my way of traveling to places that I would not get to go. I have met so many wonderful Friends through blog land for which I am thrilled for each of you. I just don't get to spend quite as much time as I would like to visit each and everyone of you, but I try to spend sometime visiting each day for a while.
It gives me something else to think about besides what is going on in my life. As most of you know I have allergies, and the weather has really caused them to flare up to where you feel miserable. My eyes water and you would say I was crying, but not really. Finding medicine that works with the other medicine that I take is a challenge. I don't want to take shots because I don't know how they will react.

All of the boys are now going to school. My youngest started back to preschool this week. He was so ready to go. When you would talk about it, he would say that he was going tomorrow. Well that tomorrow has started and there was no problems getting him up and around for school.
They are so much fun to listen to them talk about what they are learning.
I thought I would show you another one of my tea towels. I have one block left on the lap quilt I am working on. It is made up of twelve different blocks and has been enjoyable. My husband can't understand how I can work it without looking at the pattern. The pattern is repeated through out the block, that makes it easy. You all have a great day.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY

We had an absolutely gorgeous day with the temperature starting at 48 degrees and warming up to 76 degrees this afternoon. It is definitely a sign that fall is in the air.
We did some tootling as I call it since it was a beautiful day. We left with no real destination in mind just going to wherever. As we cut across the countryside, it reminded you some of a roller coaster going uphill and down with the curves thrown in. Of course this is two lane highways because you can drive a little slower and enjoy the countryside. Some area look like it is almost harvest time with the corn getting brown. Some have already made theirs into silage because it wasn't going to be good for anything else. I can remember when my dad did that. Growing up on the farm gave you a lot of enjoyment that you don't get in the city or at least I think so. You could set on the front porch without worrying about the neighbors being that close to you. I would love to live back in the country for that reason.
We have talked about making the drive to see the fields of sunflowers in bloom. They should be awesome looking now with all of the color. We may just do that tomorrow, but we will wait and see what tomorrow brings. I never want to plan my days to far ahead as they never go like you plan. We like making a decision on the fly to do whatever.
I just want a couple more nice days like today. They say that rain is back in for Tuesday of next week. Just what we need more of right at the moment.
They had lines waiting to check out at the mall this afternoon when I was there. I did some rearranging and looking to see what I was going to do next. I need to do some more embroidery work and get a package ready for shipping on Tuesday. It was a good day at my etsy shop.
You all have a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Another Rainy Day

We were lucky and didn't get the really bad wind that some areas got. My heart and prayers goes out to those of you that could possible be in the way of Hurricane Earl. My niece and her husband were going to be in DC on vacation. I am hoping that they cut their vacation short and head bad toward home. I have been watching it on the news.
Today we spent the day in the city with doctor appointment and the service engine soon light came on my car so I went by the dealership where I bought my car before I came home. It was some type of a sensor which was covered by warranty for which I am thankful.
The doctor didn't change any medicine. We will just keep plugging away as I like to call it. It can be stressful at times with things not going right. We will go back down this next month and see our primary care doctor to see what suggestions he has to offer.
I will work tomorrow then have a three day weekend. I am ready to do a little sleeping late hopefully. I don't know about you but I still wake up at the same time the alarm goes off even though I don't set it. My youngest grandson was excited because he was going to go to meet his pre-school teacher and see his room. His mommy starts her teaching at the college tomorrow. She is lucky that her job allows her to teach the labs for some engineering classes. It also helps their company to find interns for the summer that just might turn into full time employees later. She teaches them on the job training rather then out of the book. They will take field trips, try their hand at physically doing the test that they are talking about.
One of her instructors that helped her find her job, got her to teach his labs for him, and it has continued.
It is going to get down in the 50's tonight. We had rain while we were in the city, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. We only got to 74 today which wasn't really bad for a change. I rather enjoyed it.
You all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. If you travel, have a safe journey. Take care
