Where Has the Month Gone

The month is just about gone and I have no idea where it went. It seems like anymore you blink and the day is gone. We had a little break of the heat, but not much. The rest of the week is going to be very hectic for me with the mall scheduled to open the first of August.
I am in the process of tagging my items that go into the booth. I didn't get much accomplished tonight as I was late getting home from work and by the time that supper was over with the evening was gone.
The Kansas City Chiefs start training this Friday at our local college campus. They are hoping it will bring a lot of people to our city and help our economy. That is why they want to get the mall open because they feel it will bring people to check it out and hopefully buy.
We had a very tragic fire last evening in a Senior Apartment building where two lost their lives. It was the same apartment building that my mother-in-law lived in before her death so I knew quite a few of the people who lived there. They don't know exactly what caused it, but I want to know why the smoke detector and the sprinkler system didn't go off. They were around and changed the smoke detector batteries when my mother-in-law lived there. The majority of the people living there were in the 70s. 80s, and 90's in age. The couple that died were going to be celebrating their 68Th wedding anniversary in 4 months. They were 89 and 86 years old. It maybe was a blessing because they both went together. It could have been worse.
This coming Sunday will be our family reunion and I am looking forward to seeing my brothers and sisters. We will see how many of the 10 we can get there. Thursday night I will pick up my daughter-in-law and two grandsons after they drop off the car where my son works. He will get home sometime Friday from Oklahoma City, but not knowing the time it will be easier for him and her. If it would happen to be late, she wouldn't have to keep the boys up.
Well it is time to close. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Before we know it the summer will be gone. I can honestly say, for the first time in years, I will not be sad to see the heat go. It has just about floored me this year. Maybe 'cause I am getting older!
So sad about the fire. I know if DH & I ever made it to 68 years I would want to go with him......
Have a Great Day!!

Hi Shirley,
My prayers go out to those who had family at the apartment building, so tragic.

Glad to hear the booth is coming along, it sure does take a long time to get things priced and tagged, doesn't it?

Thanks for your visit!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Hugs,
Anne

Oh sweet Shirley, you are and have been so very busy. I am exhausted just trying to keep up with you!! What a terrible sadness caused by that fire. I feel so badly for all those having to go thru that and for the freinds and family that have lost their loved ones.
That being said, I hope you have a wonderful time with your family of ten. What is going to bring lots of fun memories to you all.
You are right about time flying by. It's all too fast anymore. I have started on my holiday crafts, not wanting to get lost and trying to catch up at the last minute. That is what happened last year, and I don't want to go thru that again. It's very hard to think of the holidays, but then again, it's all in the craft stores now and you need to get the items you need, while you can. Usually by the time I am ready, it's too late. Have a great time girlfriend, Char

Oh, Shirley...I am so sorry about the fire. It breaks my heart. Thankfully your MIL didn't have to be a part of the devastation.

Are you excited about your family reunion. Summer is the perfect time for them...although I'm not sure with all of this heat. You must have had your break this past weekend when we did, just one day that it went down to the 80's.

Have a wonderful time this weekend and take lots of pictures!

xoxo

We're havin the same weather as you..yucky. Glad Pat gets to come home. Sound like you all will have fun.
I don't have a big collectionof horses, cause I'd save and buy these myself....they were expensive..even back then. My BF and I would take lincoln logs and building blocks and create barn/houses for em and make blankets and scarves for em....this was before Barbie had a horse LOL. Come to find out all the horse cartoons and My little Pony stuff were the brain child of girls my age who were in Calif. doing the same play we were doin here in Oh in the 60/70's. My BF and I thought we were the odd ones;) We both laugh...coulda been us with the million $$$$ idea..but nope here we still are. Who'd a thunk it.
