QUIET TIME

My weekend hasn't gone as I planned, but it hasn't been that bad. I took my car in for service which I figured wouldn't take that long, but when they were changing the oil they found a transmission leak. Long story short, they ended up keeping my car and gave me a rental to drive. Their transmission man will look at it Monday. It maybe something minor, but it is better to be safe then get stranded along the highway with a problem.
I needed to get home and go pick up meds for my hubby. Well while we were at Sam's, the electricity went off. We were lucky because we had paid for his meds and headed toward the door. All the computers went down. The fun part was getting home because all of the traffic lights quit working causing a traffic jamb. We had no electricity here at home either. I needed gas for the rental car so I had to go see what I could find. We found traffic lights working in the area of Highway 36 and Riverside Road. I knew there was a gas station there and stopped. We went to Cameron, Missouri for dinner and when we got home we had gotten the lights back.
Today has been quiet. We went to see my son and his family. We hadn't seen the boys for a few days. They look like they have grown each time we see them. My oldest grandson is shooting up that is for sure. He has outgrown the shoes that mom bought in June. His jeans are getting to short in the legs. He told me about running the mile and half mile at school in track. I got educated how to play germ ball which is similar to Dodge Ball by Matt. He had been to a birthday party on Saturday. I got told all about that.
I have just about got my quilt finished which I hope will be this week. I put one of my kitty kats in the mail yesterday to its new home in California. I think I am going to try to do the craft show in November at my grandson's school. It benefits the school. He wants me to do it. He said that he would help me. I got to see the wooden puzzles that my oldest grandson had made. I tried to talk him into selling them to help pay for minutes on his cell phone, but I haven't succeeded in doing that yet.
Our weather has been cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon which is definitely like fall. Our leaves haven't starting turning as of yet, but we did see some picking corn. Some corn looks ready and we have even seen some bean fields that look ready. Well I am off to see what my friends are doing here in blog land. Have a great week.

G'morn Shirley ~ Amazing how much electricity provides for us...makes life VERY interesting without it nowadays.

Hi, Shirley,
We experienced some power outages here in Central Texas, too, recently due to the hurricane that hit South Texas. I am always reminded how much we depend on electricity when this happens. I am glad you were able to spend some time with your grandchildren. Yes, they sure grow up in a hurry. Have a delightful week, my friend. Vicki

Hope your doing well after all your excitement. Did you get your car back..hope it was not a major repair

Hello Shirley,
I would say you had enough excitement on Sunday to get you through the week!
When the lights go out we really learn just how important electricity is in our lives, don't we?
Hope you get your car back quickly and that it was something minor!
I have a granddaughter from Texas from here now...it is pure JOY!
Have a happy week!
