4th is over

Did you all survive the 4th of July? Does the fireworks start early in your neighborhood? The smoke was so thick in the air when I came home on the 4th with all of the fireworks that went off. You didn't need to shoot them off yourself, just observe what was being shot off around you. The kids were concerned about how Juliet would react, but didn't seem to bother her at all.
Did you get storms in your area last night? We had one go through early afternoon that caused scattered tree limbs down, flash flooding and some scattered electricity outage. You would be amazed at the people who tried to drive through the flooding  water. The one in front of one made it so they thought that they could do it too, but it didn't work. The aquatic park parking lot was flooded.  Cars were sitting in it.
My oldest did the grand entry at the horse show. He found out he was doing it right before the show started. He didn't have time to change clothes. He did a good job and that was all that mattered.
I thought I would show you a picture of the horse that my middle grandson is showing this summer. She belongs to his 4h/riding instructor and she is letting him use her. They have bonded really well. He is anxious to show because he has a new show outfit. They sent me a picture on my phone and I don't know how to down-load it to my computer.
We are suppose to have two shows this weekend, but I don't know if it will happen or not with getting over three inches of rain yesterday and they say we can get some more tonight, tomorrow and the next day. I am hoping to get pictures of him this weekend, but will have to wait and see.
I thought I would show you a picture of the latest baby quilt that I finished. My hands have to keep busy. This week I have been taking my middle grandson to pony camp at our Pony Express Museum. They are learning about the Indian's. They are learning history that they would not learn in school.
I do know that I ate to much over the weekend. If you went away hungry it was no body's fault but your own. My daughter made a red, white and blue bunt cake that my youngest decorated. It was really yummy. We had lots of food and then the following night I went to my son's house for barbecue ribs. smashed potatoes, cucumber and onions, relishes, and salad. The ribs were yummy.
The blue birds is my latest tea towel that I got done. It has blue stripe down the side of the tea towel.
I just thought I would let you know  about whats been happening at my house. Stay safe because mother nature can really be nasty. Take care.\

Shirley---the week leading up the the 4th was the same way here. Fireworks going off day and night. People just seem to like noise I guess.

Your grand children must make you so proud! I've never been to a horse show so I find your posts so interesting. Good luck to those kids the rest of this summer.

Beautiful quilt! I wish I had the patience to sit still. I used to do cross stitch and I wish I could find that 'calmness' again.

Our weather is so up and down. Now we have rain predicted for the next few days. I've given up on sun. I don't know how my flowers survive.

Hope all is well with your dear husband. Take care, Shirley.

It's against the law to do fireworks here in the city. The many local communities have fireworks displays and they are spectacular!! We heard an occasional firecracker but otherwise the fireworks were no problem.

I enjoy seeing your pojects! Your hands certainly do stay busy!!! Your grands are blessed to have you so involved in their lives!

Blessing to you, my dear! You are a treasure!

Love your baby quilt! I wish you could send some of that rain our way! We are 4 inches below normal! Everything is dry and brown. Your grandson's are keeping you busy. I would love to see a horse show.

Your weather sounds terrible. We've had a little rain but nothing like you're getting. (Please be safe) I am so glad the fireworks are done...poor Rusty really suffered. Love your quilt and tea towel, you are so gifted! I can see why you are so proud of your grandsons!

Blessings,
Gert

Hi Shirley! I'm so behind on blogging. I hope to get caught up soon. It was good to see your post.
We had a quiet 4th, well, inside the house. lol! Outside the noise and fireworks were going on. I'm glad the noise is over now.
Your quilt and tea towel are so pretty.
Our weather is still crazy, raining too much. I hope the weekend will be good for your grandsons events. Have a nice one!

Well, fireworks are legal here and there were a ton of them going off everywhere, in every direction, on every street, in every neighborhood. Crazy! But for the first time, we didn't sit out and enjoy them, as it was so HOT! It was 92 at 9pm, and we just crawled in the door after a full day of celebrating outside, happy to have survived and thrilled to come home to air conditioning! We could use some of your rain! P.S. I think I gained a few lbs just reading about those ribs... :)
