Checking In

It has been a while since I have been here in blog land. Really longer than I wanted, but just not enough hours in a day.
As many of you know that my hubby is now in hospice with his liver shutting down. The Ammonia level is high so you don't know exactly how he will answer the questions that he is asked. He has good days and bad days. We are getting a new doctor at the nursing home. I haven't met him as of yet. I am glad the other one is gone. She and I didn't get along too well. When you have been a caregiver for a long time, you aren't a dummy that some want to make you out to be.
I thought I would show you a picture of my oldest grandson and his date for Prom. The theme was on like the Oscar's where they got to walk the red carpet. The picture was taken by the Savannah Reporter. They took pictures of a lot of kids in their formal attire. Her dress and his tux vest and tie almost matched. The flowers had a little of the color of her dress in them. I am glad that he went with it being his senior year. He didn't go last year. The school year is quickly coming to a close. It is the first of May and graduation is on Mother's Day. That weekend I will have a busy weekend with all of the kids that are graduating and parties.

My youngest grandson crossed over the bridge and is now a boy scout. He is only 11 but he stands 5'4" tall. He loves being taller than his grandma. You can see from the picture that he is built like his dad. His parents have been really involved in the cub scout program, but both will be involved in other things now. She is going to be helping with the Girl Scout program even though they don't have a girl. They want the girls to learn about the construction industry. This past weekend they went to the National Pinewood Derby Race in Omaha, Nebraska. My grandson placed 14th in his age bracket with his car. He had a very successful last year of racing. They had a good time and we are very proud of him. This grandma didn't get to go. You can tell by the picture of him and his mom that he was happy.
The weather has been on the rainy side here.  We had some sunshine, but it is going to take a while for it to dry out. I went up Saturday in the rain to check on my hubby. He said that his phone was not working right. The fun part was coming home and getting through the intersection where you didn't have working lights and making a left-hand turn. I made it through only to come home to not having any electricity. It was probably about an hour and a half before I got mine back. My son and his family had a big tree fall across their road taking out their power. It made for an interesting day. At least I had food in the house that I could eat if it stayed off longer.

A couple of my latest tea towels. The teacher tea towel is a nice gift for a teacher. I am working on an order for two right now. The fingers have to stay busy. It helps keep my sanity when you deal with people that don't take the time to read medical charts. It would help tremendously if they would.

I had an upper respiratory infection and ended up in urgent care. I tried our new one here in town. I was impressed
with their service. I got in to see the doctor and picked up my meds that he order and home in approximately one and a half hours. It wouldn't have been that quick at the other one.  I will try to get back to visiting a little more often. Take care.

Shirley,

I'm keeping you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers. You are such a trooper and have the ability to keep moving forward when the times are tough. I admire you!

Those grandkids are growing up fast. You are so right about May and all of the events that follow. We have that, too. Fun but it gets to be tiring weekend after weekend.

Keep up the good work with your stitching...it's beautiful.

Sending love and a few big hugs,

Jane x

Hi Shirley. I'm so glad to hear from you. Your grandsons are both really handsome fellows. Your youngest one sure looks like his mom. I'm sorry you had all those storms down your way. We are getting a lot of rain and the weeds and grass are growing like crazy. We got enough rain to over flow an empty birdbath. Your stitching is lovely. Nice that you have orders to fill too. That crappy respiratory bug is going around here too. My daughter just can't get enough rest to get over it.

Be well and hope you recover nicely.
xx, Carol

You don't have to visit me, Shirley. It is enough to know you are busy and that life hasn't gotten you down. I am sorry to hear your hubby in hospice as his poor body starts shutting down. It has been a long, arduous journey for BOTH of you You have been a wonderful caretaker and 'voice' for him.

Iam glad your grandson went to the prom. He is handsome and they made a beautiful couple. Also glad to see your other little BIG guy moving up in scouting. I am thrilled that she is going to be going to girl scouting and they will be learning all new things from her.

Your towels are just lovely. I shared your post on my FB page and hope it might bring you some business.

Love to you- Take good care of yourself, too. xo Diana

Hi Shirley, it was good to see your post. I am so sorry to read about your hubby being in hospice. You both will be in my prayers.
Your grandson is a handsome guy and his date had a beautiful gown for prom. I'm glad he got to go since it's his senior year. Your youngest grandson is a cutie, too!
We've had a lot of rain lately here, too. Everything is just waterlogged and I hope the rains end soon. They say the weekend will be nice...hope they are right!
Take care and I hope you are feeling better now.
Hugs,
Cheryl

Shirley, it was so good to see you blogging again! I don't have your busy life, but have been away from it too... and I missed it.. Your grandson is so "handsome"! I know he will be glad he went... life seems to fly by, even for the young! And the youngest...he had is a real cutie! I know what you mean about the nursing home, and the doctors. It can be overwhelming at times. I think I fought every step of the way with my Tom.. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. It's so hard, but know that God is with you...every step of the way.. Your weather sounds terrible! We've had rain and *snow*, but nothing like you've had...I'm so sorry 😐 And as always, your handwork is exquisite! You truely have a gift...

Blessings,
Gert

Shirley, So sorry to read about your husband failing health. You have been thru it all with him. Yes, more people in health care need to be serious about their jobs. I do not even have a dr. at this time, they all keep leaving our town. Your grandsons are beautiful young men. You can be proud of them. I love people who care about scouting.:) Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

I just want to say hello, and it's always good to hear from you, Shirley. Your life is so full, as always. I hope the new doctor at your husband's hospice is easier for you to communicate with that the last one has been. That's one frustration you can do without.
Your family is such a blessing to you - I hope you will have time and energy to do lots of things with them when school is out. Which it may already be...I'm behind on my blog-reading! Take care of your self, Shirley :)
