My Latest Quilt

This will give you an idea of of my latest quilt that I just finished. I am happy the way it turned out if I could only take better pictures. It was fun seeing each square come alive.
We have had a quiet evening tonight instead of doing the usual running. I just wasn't feeling quite up to par. Our son went to meet his sister and her family at the South side festival which started today. It isn't really wheelchair friendly if you get off the sidewalk. They will have a parade in the morning. It will continue through Sunday.
I don't know what my weekend will bring, whether it will be quiet or just what. If the weather is nice, we may just go with nowhere really in mind. Those are the best kind of things to do for sure.
We will be making a trip down to see the heart doctor next Friday. It is hubby's annual checkup. We have been very lucky in that respect.
It was really busy today at work. We were short handed and it turned off to be a really nice day. We started in the 50's and warmed up to 80, but it didn't seem that bad. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I need to go decide what my next project is going to be. Probably tea towels or I have a Lightin McQueen pillowcase to do or I should say two of those for part of two little boys Christmas present.

STORMY WEATHER AGAIN

We made it home before the worse of the storm hit last night, but the lightening put on quite a show as we were driving home. I had gone to the city to get my car back. The repair was covered by warranty. I had a flex fuel car to drive while mine was being fixed. I wasn't to impressed with the gas mileage I got with it. It didn't get near the gas mileage that my car does.
We got over two inches of rain in a very short period of time. It looked like it was raining in sheets. I was home about a half hour before the worse of it hit.
I got a picture of the boys 1st day of school. I will have to scan it so that I can down load it to the computer. I am getting an education that is for sure. They are doing things that we never did as having separate teachers for P.E., Music, and their teacher. We always just had the one, but then that was a long time ago.
I was really thankful it wasn't to hot when we lost our electricity. We were luckier then some with only being off for a little over a hour. They sais that they had a equipment failure. I don't know what really happened. We haven't cooled down very good this evening yet. I know in some areas it was foggy this morning when I went to work. I have to pick my route so that I don't have a problem with school buses. If I get behind them, I will be late to work for sure.
Our day wasn't exactly as planned because of the rain. We couldn't get into a couple of job sites because it was to muddy. They were going to get a tractor and wagon to see if we could transfer the load to it. I would have loved to be a mouse and watched. I don't know where the month is going, but it is really flying fast. Before we know it, it will be Christmas. One of the blogs I was reading they are already doing a countdown to Christmas. I know Hobby Lobby starts putting out Christmas in July.
Well you all have a wonderful day.

QUIET TIME

My weekend hasn't gone as I planned, but it hasn't been that bad. I took my car in for service which I figured wouldn't take that long, but when they were changing the oil they found a transmission leak. Long story short, they ended up keeping my car and gave me a rental to drive. Their transmission man will look at it Monday. It maybe something minor, but it is better to be safe then get stranded along the highway with a problem.
I needed to get home and go pick up meds for my hubby. Well while we were at Sam's, the electricity went off. We were lucky because we had paid for his meds and headed toward the door. All the computers went down. The fun part was getting home because all of the traffic lights quit working causing a traffic jamb. We had no electricity here at home either. I needed gas for the rental car so I had to go see what I could find. We found traffic lights working in the area of Highway 36 and Riverside Road. I knew there was a gas station there and stopped. We went to Cameron, Missouri for dinner and when we got home we had gotten the lights back.
Today has been quiet. We went to see my son and his family. We hadn't seen the boys for a few days. They look like they have grown each time we see them. My oldest grandson is shooting up that is for sure. He has outgrown the shoes that mom bought in June. His jeans are getting to short in the legs. He told me about running the mile and half mile at school in track. I got educated how to play germ ball which is similar to Dodge Ball by Matt. He had been to a birthday party on Saturday. I got told all about that.
I have just about got my quilt finished which I hope will be this week. I put one of my kitty kats in the mail yesterday to its new home in California. I think I am going to try to do the craft show in November at my grandson's school. It benefits the school. He wants me to do it. He said that he would help me. I got to see the wooden puzzles that my oldest grandson had made. I tried to talk him into selling them to help pay for minutes on his cell phone, but I haven't succeeded in doing that yet.
Our weather has been cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon which is definitely like fall. Our leaves haven't starting turning as of yet, but we did see some picking corn. Some corn looks ready and we have even seen some bean fields that look ready. Well I am off to see what my friends are doing here in blog land. Have a great week.

My Friend's 500th blog post

My friend Donna at Brynwood Needleworks is having a wonderful giveaway. She is such a talented lady with her knitting, sewing, quilting, just to mention a few of the many things that she does. She has been an inspiration to me and makes me want to do things better.
You can ask questions and she is more then happy to help you if she can. Her friendship has meant a great deal to me and I enjoy reading her blog. Drop over to see her, she loves visitors as we all do.
To change the subject a little, one more day and then it is the weekend. I look forward to a couple of days off to have a little "me" time which is hard to do. I want to check out a quilt shop that I have heard about and they are only open on Saturday. I tried to go on Sunday to find out they are closed. I want to see what their shop is like and what kind of things that they carry.
We are in the 60's this evening with a fine mist at the present. We will have to wait and see what tomorrow will bring. Have a wonderful weekend.

Crazy Weather

We have had some of the craziest weather. You don't know whether you want to dress for cool or warm weather. We have been starting our days in the 50's and sometime we reach in the low 80's. I thought it was to early to wear layers, but that is the only way you can deal with the crazy weather.
My heart goes out to those that have been having all of the heavy rain and flooding in Texas because of the Hurricane's. I saw that Dallas had a tornado. I think about the family that we have that lives in Texas.
They keep saying the rain is coming our way, but who really knows what direction it is going to go.
My followers are growing and I appreciate each and everyone of you who read my blog. I love comments because that is my way of traveling to places that I would not get to go. I have met so many wonderful Friends through blog land for which I am thrilled for each of you. I just don't get to spend quite as much time as I would like to visit each and everyone of you, but I try to spend sometime visiting each day for a while.
It gives me something else to think about besides what is going on in my life. As most of you know I have allergies, and the weather has really caused them to flare up to where you feel miserable. My eyes water and you would say I was crying, but not really. Finding medicine that works with the other medicine that I take is a challenge. I don't want to take shots because I don't know how they will react.

All of the boys are now going to school. My youngest started back to preschool this week. He was so ready to go. When you would talk about it, he would say that he was going tomorrow. Well that tomorrow has started and there was no problems getting him up and around for school.
They are so much fun to listen to them talk about what they are learning.
I thought I would show you another one of my tea towels. I have one block left on the lap quilt I am working on. It is made up of twelve different blocks and has been enjoyable. My husband can't understand how I can work it without looking at the pattern. The pattern is repeated through out the block, that makes it easy. You all have a great day.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY

We had an absolutely gorgeous day with the temperature starting at 48 degrees and warming up to 76 degrees this afternoon. It is definitely a sign that fall is in the air.
We did some tootling as I call it since it was a beautiful day. We left with no real destination in mind just going to wherever. As we cut across the countryside, it reminded you some of a roller coaster going uphill and down with the curves thrown in. Of course this is two lane highways because you can drive a little slower and enjoy the countryside. Some area look like it is almost harvest time with the corn getting brown. Some have already made theirs into silage because it wasn't going to be good for anything else. I can remember when my dad did that. Growing up on the farm gave you a lot of enjoyment that you don't get in the city or at least I think so. You could set on the front porch without worrying about the neighbors being that close to you. I would love to live back in the country for that reason.
We have talked about making the drive to see the fields of sunflowers in bloom. They should be awesome looking now with all of the color. We may just do that tomorrow, but we will wait and see what tomorrow brings. I never want to plan my days to far ahead as they never go like you plan. We like making a decision on the fly to do whatever.
I just want a couple more nice days like today. They say that rain is back in for Tuesday of next week. Just what we need more of right at the moment.
They had lines waiting to check out at the mall this afternoon when I was there. I did some rearranging and looking to see what I was going to do next. I need to do some more embroidery work and get a package ready for shipping on Tuesday. It was a good day at my etsy shop.
You all have a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Another Rainy Day

We were lucky and didn't get the really bad wind that some areas got. My heart and prayers goes out to those of you that could possible be in the way of Hurricane Earl. My niece and her husband were going to be in DC on vacation. I am hoping that they cut their vacation short and head bad toward home. I have been watching it on the news.
Today we spent the day in the city with doctor appointment and the service engine soon light came on my car so I went by the dealership where I bought my car before I came home. It was some type of a sensor which was covered by warranty for which I am thankful.
The doctor didn't change any medicine. We will just keep plugging away as I like to call it. It can be stressful at times with things not going right. We will go back down this next month and see our primary care doctor to see what suggestions he has to offer.
I will work tomorrow then have a three day weekend. I am ready to do a little sleeping late hopefully. I don't know about you but I still wake up at the same time the alarm goes off even though I don't set it. My youngest grandson was excited because he was going to go to meet his pre-school teacher and see his room. His mommy starts her teaching at the college tomorrow. She is lucky that her job allows her to teach the labs for some engineering classes. It also helps their company to find interns for the summer that just might turn into full time employees later. She teaches them on the job training rather then out of the book. They will take field trips, try their hand at physically doing the test that they are talking about.
One of her instructors that helped her find her job, got her to teach his labs for him, and it has continued.
It is going to get down in the 50's tonight. We had rain while we were in the city, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. We only got to 74 today which wasn't really bad for a change. I rather enjoyed it.
You all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. If you travel, have a safe journey. Take care

Where Did August Go

I really don't know where the month has gone, but it sure did fly. I am so ready for fall and hope we have some cooler weather.
The front is heading in our direction and we are going to get hit here in a little while with strong wind, rain, possible hail and I don't know what else. It just started
you can hear the rain and wind.
We had a meeting at our antique mall. So far it has been good. I haven't sold a lot, but it will take a little time. They wanted to go over a few things and have us look over their sheets as to what they had us selling. to see if there were errors.
I am going to have to cut this short. The lightening is getting to close and I need to get off the computer. Have a great day.

My booth Update

All of the booth's in the antique mall have been rented now. It took one week after they opened to finished the job. I thought I would show what it looks like at this moment. It is still a work in progress and I have been doing some more, but my other half is taking some of my time that I would love to have for me.
Today my allergies have been given me fits to the point of having an ear ache. If I take the medicine, then all I want to do is sleep, so I will wait until bedtime.
I am having a lazy afternoon to do what I want for a change. I have did a little this and that. I have a load of laundry in at the moment.
We will probably go see our waitress that we like for a late afternoon lunch. She is off to college and her classes start Monday. I will probably need to allow myself a little more time with all schools now being in session.
We went to our grandson's exhibition to see how his riding lessons had to progress. His horse Charlie did not want to cooperate even to the point of trying to buck him off. You have to give him credit because he did stay on got him under control and even straighten his hat. I really thought he was going off.
Matt, my kindergartner told me all about the bus and what he had for his hot lunch. He had to catch me up on the latest and his bus gets home before brothers which he thought was great.

The two pictures of my kitty cat tea towels, that I thought were really cute. I had fun making them I know that for sure. I don't think I am going to do a border as they have a Perle edge on them. I have to decide if I am going to list them on etsy or if I am going to put them in my booth.
Etsy has changed the looks our shop, plus added sales tax to it. The question is who's sales tax are they wanting you to collect. I am needing to talk to my tax person about it.
Have you noticed how many more taxes they want to charge you? They think taxes are the answer to everything, but if they would stop giving the money away and live within their means they might be surprising what they can do.

Cooler Weather

The weather has turned off cooler after the storm came through last Friday. We started our day at 53 degrees this morning and it reached 80 degrees this afternoon. We are suppose to get back down in the 50's tonight.
I promised some pictures and I thought I would show you the oldest two on their ponies. Jake, the oldest has his exhibition tomorrow night to show us what he learn in his riding lessons this summer. I don't want to believe that he is in junior high already, the sixth grade. Matt started to kindergarten and he was so excited big yellow bus. The next picture is of Ethan and his cousin's and friends at his birthday party. It had a construction theme and they had a lot of fun. It was fun to watch them pin the tail on the donkey, play musical chairs. They are all just about the same age and they did play good together.
Matt is on the inner tube at the lake. He had a blast . He told me it was so cool and he wants to do it again. Both he and Jake tried it. Of course, they were taken slow with them just learning. They want to go back to the lake. It is something new.
The last picture is a bowl that my daughter-in -law made in her woodworking. I thought that it was cool. She went to a class where she made a set of 5 baskets that fit into one. The sizes were really neat. She gave the smallest as a wedding present and put a gift card in it. The gift card fit just perfect so you know how small the smallest one was.

Maybe after school really gets started she will have some me time for herself. The woodworking guild that they belong to makes toys and jewelry boxes for the Lion's Club to give to kids at Christmas. She said that they needed to get started.

I have some new tea towels done, but I will show you at a later date. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Week End Over

My birthday was awesome with so many birthday wishes from my friends here on blog land, face book and etsy ning group. I had a wonderful and awesome day.
The weekend is over, the chiefs have closed their training camp, Trails West is over after a shaky start on Friday with the storm that came through in the afternoon and later in the evening we had more rain. The storm in the afternoon it way raining so hard that you couldn't even see across our parking lot at work. We need some rain, but not that fast.
I will have pictures for you on my next post of my oldest two inner tubing at the lake, my youngest birthday party, and some others. We went out to see our son today as we had not been out for a while. My daughter-in-law had spent over a half a hour at Sam's printing pictures to share. They take a lot of pictures for which I am very thankful for.
They have had their back to school night to meet the teachers. Matt is so excited about starting kindergarten and I heard all about the big yellow bus he got to ride on. They took the kids on the a bus ride while the teacher talked to the parents. He is really enthused and I hope it doesn't change.
I need to call it a day and go to bed. Have a great day.

My Special Day

My day has been so special and it is not over yet. If you are a member of Etsy Cottage Style ning group, then you know today is my birthday. I have had so many wonderful birthday wishes and can't begin to tell you what it means to me.
I will be going to dinner here in a little while with family. We had pizza at work and I got off about 1 1/2 hours early. My boss told me it was my birthday and I could have the rest of the afternoon off. I never argue when I get a little extra time for me.
I will be visiting those who have left me messages , but it may take me a little time. I always check my e-mails before I go to work and I was so surprise to see so many e-mails. I soon found out. Debbi at Marionberry Cottage was the organizer of this wonderful surprise for me. I am one that if I know it is some one's birthday, I always leave them a note wishing them Happy Birthday, but today I have been on the receiving in. It will be remembered for a long time.
Well I must close for now, but I thank all of you for helping to make my day.

Beautiful Day

Today has been absolutely wonderful. We started the day in the 60's and stayed in the 70's all day. We had some light rain and cloud cover. It made you want to be outside to enjoy it.
I chose my image today because I love roses and my birthday is Thursday. I get to chose what we have for lunch . We all eat together when there is a birthday. A special treat. I don't know what I will chose as of yet.
School has started for some of the kids, My oldest two grandsons start the 26Th. I don't know why they are starting so early because they don't have a full day of school until the 18Th of September.
We will go a week from Thursday to an exhibition to see what our grandson has learned this summer from his riding lessons. I know I can see a difference in his riding when he showed Charley this summer. He is riding Charlie and one of his instructor's horses in the exhibition. I just don't know which one. He is excited about doing it.
I have got another tea towel almost done. I am really happy with this one. It is of a kitten in a tea pot with the lid on his head. I have finished two that I just need to put the borders on so it shows you what I have been doing. I have been under a lot of stress with work, the hot weather, and my other half not feeling good. They thought his problem was just the heat and to keep close tabs on him. At work I am trying to get my year end put together for our cpa and it isn't going well that is for sure. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but we will just have to wait and see.
Well you all have a wonderful rest of the week.

The Weekend

I was so happy when Friday evening came and it was time to go home. I was looking forward to the weekend. I stopped on my way home to pickup meds. I had to take a detour to get home because of a four car wreck that had traffic back up . I made it home and we went to dinner. I wasn't prepared for the storm that came through between 5 and 6 o'clock while we were at dinner and coming home. The temperature dropped 20 degrees in a quick hurry and the wind and rain was something else. You were sitting in the car and you could feel it rock. There wasn't a good place to really be with the rain coming so hard and fast that visibility was horrible. We had wind damage through out the city and we were lucky here at home. The chiefs training camp didn't fair so well. They will have clean up work to do tomorrow to the vendor's tents and etc.
I know I prayed a lot and made it home safely, but it was not a fun drive home with the rain and wind. We had quite an electrical show with the lightening.
We went to breakfast this morning with our oldest. He picked up the tab which he does periodically. It is a way of him doing for us. He went to house and dog sit for our daughter while they went to the state fair. Our other son and family went to the lake south of Clinton, Mo. to see some of his wife's family for the weekend.
Mom and dad was looking for a new tv because my hubby's was working before we went to dinner and when we got home after the storm, it didn't work at all. We went to where we had purchase it, but they were closed. The sign says that they are only open M-F 8 to 5. There is no way that fits my schedule. We got to talking that it would probably cost to much to repair it at today's prices. We started looking for a 24" because that is what we had. Well you can only find either a 22 or 26 in name brands I have never heard of before. We decided to come home measure where we would sit it and start at square one. Our son has a Sony and ours was a JCV. We will do some more looking tomorrow to see what we can find. I don't want one that hangs on the wall that is for sure.
Well I must run. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Booth Update

We are down to 89 degrees since the severe weather went through to the south of us. It was over a hundred when I came home from work and I really didn't want to kn0w about the heat index.
I thought I would show you three different pictures of my booth in the antique mall. It is coming along. I haven't been there since Saturday when I added a few more things to it. I have a friend that has added the baskets to my booth along with the Japanese lanterns.
It is progressing and looking better. I have been working of an evening trying to get some more things ready to go in. I am still undecided about my etsy shop. I don't know if I will have time to do it, my booth, work full time, and be a primary care giver to my hubby. I really think something needs to go for a little while.
The way the weather has turned off we can be very thankful that the birthday party was on Saturday evening because the last few days hasn't cooperated.
Our local schools start Monday the 16Th, but my older two grandsons don't start until the 26Th. They have their open house coming up to where they get to take their school supplies and meet their teacher.

We aren't alone in this crazy weather. They are already saying the winter isn't going to be good.
We have a exhibition to go to later this month. Jake's riding instructor puts on a program for parent and grandparents to show us how their riding has improved and what they have accomplished this summer. He and daddy have been looking for him a bigger horse.

I hope that you all are staying as cool as possible right now. Have a great rest of the week.

Our heat wave is started

We can be thankful that the birthday party was yesterday and not today. We had a breeze and it wasn't to bad sitting on the deck which was shaded.
First go over and check out Anne's giveaway at fionaandtwig.blogspot.com. You can click on her button on my blog and it will take you directly there. She is celebrating her 1st year anniversary.
I have pictures that I will be posting on my next post of my booth and my grandson's birthday cake. The theme of his party was a construction. Each of the boys had a yellow hard hat to wear and his cake had construction equipment of it. The icing on his cake resembled a construction site.
Today we didn't do to much because of the heat. I did finish another pot holder and have a tea towel in the works as the saying goes. I am marking some more things that I want to put in my booth. I was wondering about deactivating them on my etsy shop, but they have expired. So I will just take them and put them in my booth. They had several people looking when I was there on Saturday and the parking lot was full when we headed to the birthday party in the afternoon.
They moved the late afternoon practice for the Chiefs training camp to 6 o'clock. They are hoping it will be cooler for everybody. They said that we had over 10,000 people there watching. We haven't been out due to the heat that would definitely cause a health problem for us. My husband takes medication that he isn't to be out in real hot weather. I don't want to have him end up in the hospital. It is late so I better sign off for today. Try to stay cool.

Another Big Weekend

We will have another busy weekend. I have some more things to put in my booth, which I will do tomorrow after I have breakfast. I need to finish my birthday shopping for my grandson, who's birthday party is later in the day.
Believe it or not we have had some relief from the heat, but it is suppose to go back up this next week. We did have 68 degrees when I walked out the door to go to work which I enjoyed.
I have so many things that I want to do just not enough hours to accomplish it all. This is our tax free weekend for buying school supplies. My older two grandsons were going shoe shopping. They already have their school supplies.
I don't think I am ready for having them all in school. That means I am getting older. My oldest brother says that you are only as old as you feel. He helps his son with a paper route. He has cut down a little on the driving. If he has to go to the city for a doctor appointment, one of the kids or grand kids can drive them. I like having someone else do the driving for me at times.
Today our antique mall opened for business. I am anxious to see if I sold anything. It will be interesting to watch and see what I do. I have a friend who is putting some of her baskets in my booth. Well it is late so I better try to get some rest for the weekend of running. Have a great one.

It's Wednesday

The week is quickly flying by and I wish it would slow down. Our accountant wants my year end stuff by the end of the month. I don't know if I will make it or not. I told her I would try to accomplish it.
We cooled down a little today. Yesterday was the worse that we have had in a long time. Of course, it had to be election day. We didn't have that big of a turnout. They thought it had a lot to do with the weather and people just didn't get out unless they absolutely had to go somewhere.
The Chief's training camp has been going on about a week in our city. Tonight was the first traffic problem that I have seen so far, but this was the first evening practice. They have found out that our weather can be something else. It is surprising how it has been all over and just not in one spot this year when it came to the snow, floods, and heat. I think the only difference has basically been the humidity.
My youngest grandson wanted to go swimming. He had been bugging mommy and daddy about taking his floating device off. He told them he could swim, which he can't, so they did let him take it off and he sank. The episode taught him how to not open his mouth until his head was out of the water. He isn't afraid of the water, but he will be taking lessons again this fall. His other grandparents always take their travel trailer down to the state fair where they spend their vacation. There is quite a group of friends that meet there at the fair. They were taking it down so they could get the spot that they like. Ethan was going with them to take it down. He was excitied because he was going camping. He had to pack his special toys in the trailer the spot that grandpa build specially for him.
Try to stay as cool as possible. Take care.

WEEKEND WENT TO FAST

The weekend went much to fast to accomplish everything that I wanted to do We had our family reunion on Sunday with seven brothers and sisters attending out of ten with our extended families. I got to see some nieces and nephews that I haven't seen for a long time with their families. We had two newly wed couples in attendance.

There were a lot of great nieces and nephews in attendance with the youngest being 18 months and my oldest brother is going to be 81 his birthday. We had a lot of food and good conversation. The time spent together always seems to go much to fast and I was irritated with myself because I forgot my camera. I will be able to get some pictures of some of them because they are invited to my grandson's birthday party. It should be a lot of fun, I just hope that it cools down some with the number of people that has been invited.
It has turned off so very hot this week. We have a heat advisory for the next few days. We had rain this morning before I went to work. It did nothing but make it that much hotter. You just drink more water and visit the bathroom more often.

I thought I would show you a couple more of the things that I have been working on the last few days. Lately with the heat , I have headache's when I get home from going in and out of the air conditioning. It takes a while for them to go away so I usually am up later then I probably should be, but there isn't much I can do about them.

I really don't want to see our light bill this month. It is probably going to be out of sight. They always manage to raise the bills when it is the hottest. The lights in the summer and the gas company in the winter.

School will be starting in two weeks for part of the kids . They probably won't go full days if it stays this hot which won't help the working family. All of my grandsons will be in school this year. Ethan in preschool, Matt in kindergarten, and Jake in the 6Th grade. They grow up so very fast anymore.
I found the picture of my two pot holders. I thought they made up really cute. Try to stay cool if you live where we are have the hot weather.

Take care.
