Matt has arrived to dig me out after the blizzard that we have had. Major highways shut down because of all the accidents that they have had today. My family has all been accounted for so far today. My daughter-in-law made it to work and she will call when she gets home this evening. She was glad she went down and saw her dad yesterday before this hit.
I got to stay home which didn't bother me at all because I really didn't want to get out there with people who drive like idiots. It was about noon before I saw people going by the house. I knew I could go if I got out of my driveway, but the snow drift had to be moved first that was right behind my car.
It makes me wish that I had a fireplace that I could curl up in front of and enjoy the warmth, but the house is warm so there is not a problem. I keep it set at one temperature. How many of you remember your house being heated by wood stoves and taking a iron wrapped in newspaper to bed with you to help keep you warm. I have talked with my hubby twice today so he is o.k. Santa played them a visit at the nursing home this afternoon. He was telling me what he got and sounded happy that is the main thing. It is hard to spend the holidays at the nursing home, but we keep taking every day that we get.
My sister called to tell me that Chelsey arrived around 8:30 weighed in at 5 lbs and 13 ounces, 19 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing fine for being a month early. I told my sister that I don't have my quilt done yet. I thought I still had time yet to get it done. She said not to worry about it. I will get it finished.
The picture of the little reindeer in the red shirt is my middle grandson taken at his Christmas program that I went to.
I am sure thankful that I got my hubby back to the nursing home before all of this hit. It was pouring down rain when I came home from the store last night. I was hoping maybe that it would just freeze dry, but the snow and wind came. We had winds up to 45 miles a hour and blizzard conditions. We had quite a thunderstorm there for a while with lightening. You could just hear the wind howl.
After not having to go to work, I went back to bed and slept a while longer this morning. I hope you are o.k. where you are. Some of you are in for quite a storm that headed your way. I have a nephew that lives in Des Monies and they had a lot of snow.
You all take care and stay safe.

Oh I love the snow but I also need my family to be at home and safe.
They have those electric heaters tht look like fireplaces. Our fireplace is downstairs and I don't think very safe. I want to get one of the heaters for upstairs.
Happy New Baby.
I'm glad your son is able to check in on you. Your husband is safe and warm where he is. You would be worried sick if he was at home now. Just rest and stay warm.
Glad honey you were able to stay home in such bad weather. I often think of you wondering how your holding up and cold freezing weather does not help.
Wish I could send you some of your weather but our cold weather blew in last night and I woke up cold.
It will be in the twenties again tonight but thank goodness I don't have to put up with snow.
Snow and I don't do well together.
Glad hubby is okay.
Just wanted to come by one more time before Christmas and wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Will be thinking of you. My plans are to go to Austin and be with my kids. I hate leaving my cats outside because it will be freezing Christmas morning.
Love
Maggie
It is storming here now, Shirley and has been snowing all day. We are supposed to get around 1O" the last I heard. Too much for me. I ended up finishing my last Christmas present today- well, it is almost done. I'll finish it before I go to bed tonight.
I am glad that your hubby is doing okay. I know it must be hard on him to not be home. I guess that will be the story of a lot of our lives someday.
Our old farmhouse was heated with wood. I remember a stove in the kitchen and one in the living room. Eventually they put a wood furnace in but it only heated the living room and two bedrooms...the others were pretty cool and the kitchen still kept its wood stove/kitchen range until I was grown and gone. Kids today have no idea- xo Diana
The weather looks so dreadful on the news. Stay home, be safe and snuggle with all those cutie kiddo's.
Merry Christmas my dear friend.

Congrats on the new little one in your family :) Seems we both have one! We just got the edge of that storm, barely a quarter of an inch, but with the wind blowing like it was, who knows how much we got. Sure is cold tho. Merry Christmas to my Missouri friend :) Karen
Hi, Shirley,
I saw on the news tonight where the midwest was hit with lots of snow!! Stay safe and warm, my friend. I am glad you will have your family close by for Christmas and can celebrate with your hubby in the nursing home. Merry Christmas to you! Vicki
Shirley, I thought about you yesterday morning hoping that you were safe and warm. I couldn't believe those pictures of 29. We only got a dusting, but those winds were horrendous! Gusts up to 53mph. I wish you a peaceful and merry Christmas! Twyla
I am glad the mom and baby are okay. Take care when driving in the snow, we have it too, just not as bad as you. A Merry, White Christmas to you!
What a great early Christmas present! Congratulations on the new member of your family! And I'm so glad you're home safe and cozy instead of having to brave the blizzard. Be safe! And have a happy holiday!
Oh, boy...we would LOVE a little snow for Christmas.
Stay in, stay warm and the merriest Christmas to you, dear one.

Shirley- I'm happy to know that you are safe at home and that you were able to enjoy a visit with your husband before the storm hit. Enjoy your snow days at home-- I'm sure you are stitching something lovely.
Sending holiday hugs to you--
Vicki
My hubster is from Nebraska and I'm from Cali. You can imagine our different views on SNOW! :)
Blessings to you for a Merry Christmas my friend. I'll be missing you while I'm away for a few weeks healing up.
Love to you Happy New Year, too!
Love, Rebecca
We had a wind storm at the same time. With lots of red dust mixed in. Stay safe and warm!
