This and That

The water fall  is another picture my niece took while on vacation in the state of Washington.  With all of the hot weather we have been having it makes you wish, you had one close to home that you could stand under without drowning to enjoy the cool water.
We had one day of 80's then right back to the triple digit mark. We are suppose to stay that way for the next three days.
I did find me a couple pair of shorts to wear to work. I don't usually wear them, but with our ac not working the best in the world, you need all of the help you can get.
This next weekend will be a busy weekend for us. We are planning on at the present time going to watch the boys ride.  It depended on how well the riding lessons went whether my middle grandson gets to do games or not.  He doesn't really care if he wins or not he just likes to try.  They will show Western Pleasure in the evening.
Sunday is the big day for our family reunion. I still have to decide what I am going to take.  I am looking forward to seeing my brothers and sisters.  It will be the only time we get to see some of them and of course, there is always new ones to meet for the first time.  You never know who you will see. Our oldest would love to fly home, but just to busy right now. Working 6 to 7 days a week. They seem to be very busy which is good thing. He has a job which is the most important.
We will be celebrating birthdays in August three weeks in a roll. Our youngest grandson will turn 7 on the 7th, our daughters is the 13th and mine is the 19th.  School starts the 16th for part of them. It doesn't seem like it should be that close already. They are starting so much earlier this year don't know why.
I probably will be quiet tomorrow without a voice.  My voice is really scratchy right now. I assume it is the allergies acting up, but then it was raining a little when I went to work. I got a little damp and working in ac while you are drying out might not have helped.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

A little Rain

We got very little rain last night. We didn't get the wind damage that some people did. We can always hope for more rain. We did drop down out of the triple digits. We saw some corn fields that is drying up to where the stalks look like it is time to pick it.
My niece is in Washington State on vacation and the picture is one that she took at Lake Cushman.  I have seen her with a jacket on in a couple of her pictures. I just wish she would bring some of the cool weather back with her.
The Kansas City Chiefs training camp starts tomorrow at our local college. They think we are really going to have a lot of people here since we don't have to deal with flood waters this year. They didn't have a lock out so they think it will be much better. They have some covered areas to make it cooler and they are trying to make it better for the fans so they will come watch. It is one  thing that I haven't gone to because they aren't that wheel chair friendly in my estimation.
All the guys at work talk about is going and seeing the cheerleaders. I wonder why as if I didn't  know.
Do you have plans for the weekend? Mine will be determined by how hot it is. I need to go and find me a couple pair of shorts if it is going to stay really hot.  Finding the length I want will probably be my problem. I don't want them to short, but rather right above the knee I think at my age.  The first Sunday in August will be our family reunion. It will be fun seeing some of my brothers and sisters. How many will be there? We never know. I would like to know how many there are now with all of our extended families. There is ten of kids.  At one time we were well over a 125 and that was several years ago. We will be in the air conditioning. There is just to many that have health issues.
Well I hope you all have a good FRIDAY. I am looking forward to the weekend and sleeping a little late if possible. Take care and stay cool.

Praying for Rain

I have not prayed for rain for a long time, but the way everything is drying up we need it bad just like a lot of other people. We had another triple digit day with the temperature at 105 when I headed home from work. I felt sorry for the ones that was waiting on the bus for their transportation. We took a ride Saturday even though it was hot. I wanted to go to Joanne's in Kansas City. They had their craft lites on sale and I had a 50% off coupon which really helped. I, also, like their customer service. They helped me get it to the car and really was great in that respect. Looking at the crops and some of the trees you would think it is fall instead of being July. Some of the farmers are starting to cut their corn for silage to salvage something from it. Even baling their pasture grass preparing for a bad winter who knows. I know the price of hay has sure jumped. It is horrible. I know walking across my yard you could hear the grass crunch under my feet. Last year we had the flood and now this. It really makes you wonder about what lies ahead for the rest of the year.
They cancelled the outdoor activities that were schedule because it was just to hot.  We have a chance for some rain Wednesday and Thursday, but I am not counting on it.
We have been staying pretty much at home which I don't have a problem with under the circumstances.
They have opened some shelters for people who don't have air-condition to help them, but there are still people who won't go even if someone picked them up and took them.
I hope all of you are staying as cool as possible. I know talking with my son in Louisiana, he said they had some rain, but the humidity was a lot different then here, but he was doing o.k.. I think he would tell mom that even if he wasn't so that I won't worry as much. I still do, that is just my nature.
Well it is time to go bed before it gets to late. I have to work tomorrow. Take care and stay cool.

It's The Weekend

The weekend plans are changed. A lot of outside activities have been cancelled because of the heat in our area. I got to come home a little earlier. They were working on an a/c unit on the roof across the street and our lights went out. No electricity, we can't do anything really. It was almost time to come home anyway.
The horse show was cancelled which didn't really upset me because I knew we wouldn't be able to go after the last time of trying.
We are still in a heat advisory until next Wednesday. You just drink a lot of fluids and stay hydrated.  We have the week free of doctor appointments at the moment.
We actually stayed home tonight. The last couple of nights hubby has had a problem after we have gone to dinner. We don't know if it is heat related or what. Talked to the doctor's office and got told just make him drink fluids and watch that it doesn't come back. I keep wondering if it was related to the big dose of iron that he got on Monday with the steroids. I know that it sent his blood sugar off the chart and we have been working to get it back down. He even wanted to stay home tonight which I didn't have a problem with at all.
Wasn't the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado something else? What is wrong with people to take so many innocent lives? Booby trapped his apartment which could have killed a lot more people. He has to be smart to be accepted in medical school, but I just don't understand.  It was only 11 miles from where the Columbine shooting occurred several years ago.
You pray each day that God will keep you safe because you sure don't know anymore. We had a car jacking at the shopping area close here to the house. I just know I am more observant of my surroundings. You all have a good weekend and try to stay cool. I will be popping in and out as I am working on a commission project at the moment. Take care.

Horrible Heat

My car had 118 degrees when I started home from work tonight. They are saying we are going to be in the triple digits for several days yet. I don't know about you, but it makes me exhausted. Of course with my office upstairs air-condition, you go out into the heat and back in a/c. You have no choice with the bathroom being downstairs. Plus having to take care of things downstairs. I have been trying to drink more water so that I don't get sick.

They have already cancelled the horse show for the weekend which I am glad. They are going to reschedule it for cooler weather. Anybody have a guess as to when that will be.

I thought I had lost the lens to my glasses, but I found it for which I was very thankful. I got it put back in. I did have a spare, but they were from two years ago. I was glad I stopped on my way home instead of during the day as long as I was there. She told me to check them every so often to make sure the screws was tight. How do you do that when you can't see without your glasses on. That should really be fun.

That is enough of my rambling really about nothing, but at least you know we are still here. Take care and try to stay cool.

Why

Why can't a doctor answer your question instead of referring you to another doctor. It feels like you are on a merry-go-around. At least they gave him another iron infusion. I know this one is working because his blood sugar reads high on the meter. It will take work to get it back down, but we will get it accomplished.
We didn't get to watch our boys over the weekend. It just got to hot and the judge they had took forever to judge a class. I got a report . Little brother got 2-first and brother got a 5th, 4th and 2nd. T he fifth was in with senior riders and he was the youngest one out there. It makes him feel good to know that he can complete with all ages.
I was sitting in dad's new chair the boys got him for father's day that has a roof that protects you somewhat from the sun. I knew when Matt was there because my roof would disappear and he would giggle. I wish we could have stayed longer, but just absolutely no way. Saturday wasn't a good day because I lost a lens out of my glasses and I don't have a clue as to where or when. I didn't really notice it because it was the lens on my eye that is going to have the cataract remove. It blurs part time so I just assume that only to discover that the lens was gone. The screw had come out. I will find out tomorrow what will be done about that. I didn't get home in time today.
We left the house at 6:30 A,M.  and got home tonight at 6:30 P.M.. We did stop for supper on the way home. It was a hot day to be in the city. You really noticed it when you came out to come home. They keep their treatment room so cold.
Oh! yes, have any of you got a kit that the pattern is printed so light that  you can hardly see it? Is there a light that will help to bring it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would say just get a new kit, but the quilt belongs to someone else and I am just trying to do the embroidery work.
It has been a long day so I will say goodnight. Have a great day.

TGIF

Thank Goodness Its Friday

Have you ever had a day that you couldn't wait for it to end? The faster you tried to go the worse it got. That was today. I had so many things I wanted to get done knowing that I was going to be gone on Monday for the day, but I guess it will be there on Tuesday.  It is not going to go away that is for sure.
We had a shower last night which helped cool it down a little. I hope the weather man is wrong about tomorrow because they say we are going to have hot weather. I guess if we can't go watch the boys ride then I will work on a commission lap quilt.  I just finished a special order that is leaving tomorrow for North Carolina. I learned a lesson though. Have you ever tried to change colors after you have washed it? I did it, but I don't think I will ever do it again. I had to free hand the  word design back on the tea towel. That is fun to do, but taking a seam ripper to get out what I had embroidered was the worse part. As the saying goes, I don't plan on anybody having a problem with my work.
Isn't he the cutest hat retriever that you have ever seen? He was having a blast going to get the kid's hats when they would blow off . The hat that he has in his hand is my grandson's. They finally got told they could go without their hats. He didn't mind chasing them. As soon as they told him he could go, He would run as fast as his little legs would go.
I haven't heard whether his mom found him a white shirt or not. They have to wear white shirts for the first three classes in an up coming 4-H  event. The only thing white shows dirt really fast. Weather permitting we are going to go watch both boys ride tomorrow. We haven't gone the last couple of times  because of the heat. When they don't have shade and there is no way I can park the car where we can watch from it and run the ac. We just stay home and they take a lot of pictures.
We are back on the road on Monday to the doctors. The blood work today showed that his blood count has improved, but still not much energy. The color is a little better so we just take every day we get and we are thankful for all of you who say prayers for us. I am a firm believer that is why he is still here.
Hope all of you have  a wonderful weekend and stay cool.

New Look

He can smile

Surprise I have a new look and I think it is awesome. Karen Valentine designed my blog for me and she does such a good job. The embroidery work that you see in my header is all mine. It shows you what I do when I have to set at the hospital 24/7 to keep my sanity. I talked with the Hematologist office today. She said something about a blood transfusion and then said iron infusion. We will be getting something Monday, but I will know where his count is before we go because he has to have lab work done on Friday. The picture below is what my grandson Matt does to give his mommy gray hair. He is just setting there so comfortable or at least that is what he says. He is so funny at times. Cleo just lets him do whatever. She is such a good horse. He got to ride in the arena before the show started. It was a show strictly for 4 H kids. He informed me he got to join when he turned 8 in October. He does get riding lessons.  I wanted to show you that my grandson can smile when he wants to. He got a shooting vest from his Uncle John for his birthday and I got a demonstration as to how it works for his shooting in 4 H.  He keeps getting taller each time I see him. We didn't get to watch their firework display because grandpa was having a problem. It was just to hot and no air moving when we try to be outside and we were out there very long.
Matt giving mommy gray hairs

I need to finish a project so I will talk to you later. Let me know how you like my new look. Take care

Surprise

No pictures tonight, just a short note to let you know you will be seeing a surprise on my blog. It has been a really hectic two weeks for me and far from being over. We are waiting for the doctors to make up their mind as to what they are going to do or I should say what they are going to be allowed to do.  I have a been doing a lot of research the last few days and came across a medication call Prohemia that is suppose to maybe help people make their own blood. Need to talk with the doctors about that. Have you ever been caught between two groups of doctors that say it is each others problem? Not fun. We finally got some much need rain and cooled it down. Have a great week and I will be in and out with work and all. Take care

4th of July

The 4th of July has already started in our neighborhood with the fireworks.  I wonder how long they will continue to shoot them off. I wouldn't really want to stay outside in the heat and it is still really humid. We got to over a 100 degrees today and it really took your breath away.  I tried to stay hydrated because I didn't want to be sick. I just get headaches from going in and out of a/c.
We will have a quiet day tomorrow as possible and go to the doctors on Thursday. I haven't worked very much this week nor last.  I am working on an order right now so that will keep me busy. I need to get it done so I can get it in the mail.
The family will be together Saturday excepting for our oldest who is working in Louisiana. His hours vary as to what time his day starts. Today it was at 3 A.M. getting off or suppose to get off around noon. At least it would be the coolest part of the day. We will call him as we always do and let everyone talk with him so he knows that he is thought of even though he couldn't be there.
We shut down early today. The guys said that it was to hot to work any longer.  I have so much to get done and being off doesn't help that is for sure.
Have you ever put something right where you know where it is at and then can't find it? That is me or else I have to much on my mind right now. I was just thankful that I had something to keep my hands busy. I can't just sit around and do nothing. I just don't like sleeping in a straight back  chair. Technically I wasn't suppose to get to stay in his room anyway because of him having a roommate, but they let me. Have you ever heard of waking a person up to give them a pain pill? We finally got moved to a private room which I was thankful for.
I didn't realize it was so late so I better call it a night. Have a safe 4th of July.
