Sunday Afternoon Horseshow

We woke up this morning to 81 degrees and I wondered if we were going to be able to go to the horse show this afternoon or if it would be to hot.
The man upstairs must have heard my wishes because it clouded up with a wonderful breeze. You couldn't have asked for any better and the sun came out as we were getting ready to leave the horse show grounds.
The first horse is Scoot. The horse actually has a long name, but his owner Amy calls him Scoot. Jake rode him yesterday around and today he rode him in the trail ride event. The horse had never done anything like that and considering the first time for Jake they didn't do to bad. The second picture is of Jake and Charley after they had won 5Th place in a group of 8. We were thrilled because it was the first time he actually showed his horse. He would take him and just ride him around the outside of the arena before. He has a wonderful riding teacher, who has done a good job of working him and encouraging him. She was there today with him so that they know what to work on during his lessons before the next show.
The next pictures were taken by my 5 year old grandson. Grandma got tired of trying to keep track of him. His mommy and daddy didn't think I should let him play with my digital, but it was fun to watch him and see what he got. He was so tired . He didn't get to do all of his events on Friday night, but I forgot my camera.
I had taken my car down to the dealership I bought it from the night before so they could do the recall. After working Friday, taken the loaner back and

picking up my car, I thought we did rather well. We made it before the show started. Not by much. Matt didn't want to do the stick horse race. He just wanted to ride his pony.

We were so proud of Jake and Charley especially when it was against riders who was a lot older then he was. It was an open class where age made no difference.
I will show you some more pictures that my 5 yr old took in another post. I am sorry this is a little long, but you know proud grandparents. Have a great week.

Storm Damage

We weren't lucky this time from the bad weather. There is damage all over town with the worse being toward the southwest part of the city. Trees were topple blocking streets, house trailers with no roof, part of the roof blown off of our Sam's Club just to name a few.
We were gone to my brothers for his two grandchildren birthday party. Miss Emma as we call her turned 3 and her brother Collin turned 5. We were told by his brother-in-law that we were really getting hit down here. Of course, I wondered just what kind of damage I would come home to.
Our oldest was home he said that the transformer made a funny sound, it got real still, then really black and then it hit. We lost power, but not near as long as some areas here in town. They clocked the wind at our airport across the river at 70 miles a hour. The main thing is we didn't have any serious injuries. We can replace lots of things, but we can't replace a life. We are in for another round yet tonight for sometime after midnight.
It makes you wonder when is the rain and storms going to stop and if Mother Nature is trying to tell us something. We made the news outside of our local news with the Storm damage. Now it will be the problem of rebuilding. You will have the people who try to take advantage of people during this time. It happens every time you have this kind of a situation.
Hope you all have a wonderful week. Ours is suppose to be hot and I am hoping dry.

Two down one to go

They ran two test yesterday and I have one to do this coming Monday. I get to go to sleep for that one and I don't have to drink the yucky stuff that makes you wonder where they came up with the taste. They tell you oh it is not that bad, which makes you wonder if they have ever had to taste it.
We took the interstate down to the city and the traffic was something else. I don't care what speed you drive they always go faster.
We are still getting some rain this evening. The Platte, 102, and Missouri Rivers are all out of their banks. It is not as bad as the flood that we went through in 93, but we haven't crested yet. They have sand bagged the Nature Center to keep the river out. I really don't know why they built it so close to the river, but they did.
You just wonder when is it going to stop. Mother Nature is not listening to us very good. We would gladly share with those of you who need the rain and take some sunshine for a few days. I thought we were going to have sunshine all day today, but it didn't happen that way.
I felt sorry for a bus load of boys from Utah that was broken down by where we ate supper this evening. They were having fun playing ball. There was two buses and they sent the girls on in the other bus. They were waiting for them to come out of Kansas City bringing the part to fix the bus. They had been there since 1:30 this afternoon. They have been traveling for over two weeks and they were on their way home. I never did figure what they were using as their ball and bat. They had just graduated from high school. They were very polite and it makes you feel good when you are around kids like that.
You all have a wonderful day.

RAin Go Away Little Johnny Wants to play

I was so in hopes we would see sunshine today, but we had more rain, plus the humidity was high. We have had several roads closed due to flooding . They closed one of the parks to camping due to high water. My heart goes out to all of those who lost people during the Arkansas flood.
How many of you remember the poem Rain, rain go away little Johnny wants to come out and play. All of the rain we have got makes me think of that nursery rhyme.
Oklahoma City really got hit a lot worse then us today with the rain. We are under another severe storm watch tonight until the wee hours of the morning.
I just don't want it raining when I have to make the drive tomorrow to the city. I will decide whether I will drive the interstate or not. I may have to because of the flooding and road closing in our area's.
I have to find time to find out how my oldest grandson's riding lesson went. His horse is having a little training, also. He says his horse is on a Jenny Craig diet because he is so fat. It is to be expected not being rode all winter. This is his second year of riding lessons. She doesn't take them to teach until they are 8 years old. At the end of summer, she will have an exhibition where the kids get to show what they have learned. I will be anxious to see how Jake and Charley get along after both being schooled as the saying goes.
It is late tonight and I need to close for this post. Have a wonderful week.

Sunday"s Birthday

We spent the day at our son's celebrating our oldest grandson's 11Th birthday. The younger two got to ride Matt's pony Baby Sister. I don't have a clue why Matt chose that name. He will be riding in a horse show this next Saturday, but we are already committed to another birthday party that day. We will go watch him ride before the summer is out that is for sure.

Ethan wearing his Uncle Pat's hat would love to have a pony, too. His mommy and daddy are more into riding Harley's plus living in town makes it hard to have a pony.
The food for the day was barbecue and was delious. Trica made a cherry cobbler in her dutch oven cooked over the charcoal that was so yummy with ice cream on top.
Ethan and Matt thought they were special because they got to put the candles on Jake's cheesecake pie.
Uncle John built the younger two a helicopter without any instructions using Lego's and they thought that was special. He has a lot of Lego's sets and is always getting the boys them for their birthdays.
I hope that you all have a wonderful week. We are scheduled for more rain and more flooding. I hope that they are wrong. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Wednesday Almost Gone

Wednesday, the middle of the week, which means another week almost gone. We have the floods right now and my heart goes out to the ones that have been devastated by the tornado's and high winds. I always love when they say it was a straight wind, when the trees show differently. You never really know when they are going to pop up anymore. I set and watch the radar and the storms were popping up so very fast the other evening.
This weekend will be busy. My oldest grandson turns 11 on Saturday. We will celebrate on Sunday so the ones working can come to the party too. He is going to be in middle School and doesn't seem like he should be that old. I remember the day he was born quite well.

This picture is my youngest two grandsons taken at Easter. I was going through some pictures now that I finally found where they were at on the computer. I just saved them to a different location then I normally do. I guess I was tired the night that I did that.
Today was warm and they decided they wanted to freeze me out. They are in and out of the store so they get hot. They turn the air-conditioning colder. The only bad thing is the same thermostat regulates the air in my office. I keep telling them I would like one so that I could regulate my own.
Well I must close for this evening. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Summer isn't here quite yet

It has been so hot and muggy the last couple of days and the air quality has definitely not been good. The heat index was a hundred yesterday before the storms started popping up all over. I know I was out for only about ten minutes last night and when I came in I could feel the water running down my back.
My two young boys came and took care of my yard. They are earning their money to go to basketball and football camps. There is so many more sports camps for kids to go to now days then there were when we grew up.
It is starting to cloud up again and there is a possibility of more storms tonight. I hope they are wrong.
I have been embroidering right now to keep the mind and hands busy so that I don't have to think about other things right now. I haven't got the results of my bone density test yet. I just know that my lower back gives me fits at times.
We made it through the day yesterday with a very short crew. I did close 15 minutes early and postponed one coming to look at some stuff until Monday. I can't understand him and I didn't really want to deal with him. I let the guys do it.
I have two birthday presents bought and one left to go. We have three birthdays and two weddings coming up. It is that time of the year. I still have to get the graduation presents in the mail.
Some of the girls that I graduated with were going to get together for a picnic. It sounded like fun, but I didn't go because of being off with doctor appointments and the test coming up week after next I will be gone again. It isn't a good time for that, but I need to find out what is going on.
Well you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sun. I would like it cooler, The temperature is 92 degrees as I write this and I don't know about the heat index.

Special Moment

I had an e-mail tonight that my coffee grinder tea towel is in Morning has Broken treasury on etsy. I was going to post a picture, but I couldn't find it in my album. Why when you are in a hurry, you can never find what you are looking for. It has been a busy weekend which was just as well because it keeps the mind on other things.
Sunday we went to Ashland, Nebraska to the Strategic Air Command Museum with our son. He did all the driving so I got to set back and look at the scenery. The planes that were used to fight the wars were something to look at. Some of the displays brought back memories of the family that served in the arm forces. I have brothers that do not talk their time in Viet Nam. Even my own son does not talk about the first Desert Storm War. I just know that he has a scar on his leg that he won't tell us how he got it.
You just pray a lot that God will take care of the men and women who are serving today to keep us having our freedom that so many would like to take away from us.
We came through a storm coming home that you could not see where you were really gone. You turned on the flashers and lights so that people could see you because you were afraid to stop for fear someone would hit you because you couldn't really see the edge of the road. I was glad that I wasn't driving, but it did make me very nervous. We had rain and lightening after we got home, but nothing like what we drove through.
I hope every body has a good week.

Memorial Day Weekend

I only need to get through tomorrow and then I have a three day weekend. I will need it to recuperate for this next month which is filled with doctor appointments and test. I can't blame my hubby for these because unfortunately they are mine. I had been having some problems with swallowing my medicine so they want a Swallow test and upper g-i. They think there is a possibility that I have ulcers. Just what I needed.
We will visit the cemeteries and put some flowers out on our parents graves, Both my hubby's and mine are deceased. I always check dates on graves that I know that I don't have all of the information for my family tree.
My daughter-in-law found me someone to come and mow my two acres for a reasonable price so that I won't have to do it like I did this past Sunday. I had a cloudy windy day which I was very thankful for. Sunday was the better of the two days. It has turned off hot and muggy this week. We had storms around us and so far we have been missed for which I am thankful for.
Please forgive me if I don't leave you a message right now. I just have a lot as the saying goes of things on my plate. I am not use to being the one with the problem and have others do for me. I am use to doing for myself. I will have to get use to having a driver when it is necessary this next month. I will furnish the car, gas, and if they need to eat while they are waiting on me. I will just keep saying my prayers for me as well as everyone else. We started some new medicine for the stomach and I tried taking it with applesauce to see if that would help the medicine go down. It is getting really late and I have statements to get out tomorrow so I better hit the sack as the saying goes. You all have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the sunshine, but don't get to hot.

Month Almost Over

The month has quickly flown by and I really don't know where it has gone. I keep thinking if I don't blink it won't go as fast, but that isn't going to happen.

This is a picture of my youngest grandson and his mommy at the their Mother's Day Tea program. Tonight is their last swimming lessons and I don't think either boy wanted them to come to an end. They have learned so very much because they were taught water safety besides swimming.

My daughter taught ice-skating and she said that his swimming lessons were anymore then a half hour private ice skating lesson.

Tea towel is another one that I just finished that I thought you might like to see. It doesn't take to long to do when you don't really care for what is on the television and it is raining outside. I like the ones when you don't have to change colors every other stitch. I have a new project coming that are baby blocks, but it will take a little longer because it will have to be quilted after I get through with the blocks. I am anxious to get them to see if they are as cute as the picture was. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Saturday changes

Our little graduates. They had a nice little group. I couldn't get back enough to get the whole group so I just got my one of my very special boys in grandma's life.
I thought I would show you a couple of the tea towels that will soon be going into my etsy shop. They were an easy project to do in the motel room while it was raining and I didn't want to drive because it was raining to hard.

The picture of the Branson Belle boat dock was taken while we were riding on the Duck's in the rain. My hubby wanted to do something so this was one thing we could do in the rain giving me a break from driving in the rain. You can see the rain drops on the picture.

Being I can't work in the yard like I planned, I thought I would show you a picture of the swan that was on our bed when we checked on our trip. It is made out of towels and wash clothes. They said that they have a lot of fun making them for their guest.

TGIF AND SUNSHINE

I was so thankful when 4:30 came this afternoon to get out in the warm sunshine. We had 73 degrees and no rain . We have had so much rain this past week while we were gone and after we came home.
Last night was Matt's pre-school graduation. they looked so cute in their little red caps and gowns. I will be posting pictures soon of him. It has been so stressful for his mom because they couldn't tell her until the last moment that they were going to have the summer program where they are going. School gets out the 25Th for my oldest and the two of them will go the 26th to their summer school program. Jacob got to go visit his new middle school this week for a day so they could see where they would be going when school got started back up in the fall. I don't know for sure what my youngest grandson is going to be doing, but then his other grandparents babysit him. If they want to go some place, they just take him with them. His main concern is that he gets to go to the zoo this summer. He is my grandchild who has a play farm with animals such as lions, tigers, giraffe, bears instead of the pigs, cows, chickens.
We are going to have 80 degree weather all this next week and not suppose to have any rain. I just know I need to get my yard mowed or get a couple of goats. I wonder how my neighbors would like that idea. He He. My son says I need a hay baler because it is getting so tall. I asked him if he wanted it to feed to his horses being each boy has a horse now. I am waiting for the youngest to tell his parents he needs a horse too. He might not being he has his battery operated motorcycle. He just thinks it should go to the bike shows with mom and daddy's bikes.
I just wanted you to know I am still here and I will be catching up with you as soon as I can reading blogs and leaving comments. You have a wonderful weekend.

Rainy, Rainy, Vacation

I wanted a few days off from work to take a mini vacation. Basically a change of scenery for a few days. Well we left Thursday Morning in the rain and it rain all day on us, plus Friday, Saturday and it poured on us coming home. I manage to unload the car without getting wet, but that was the first. We did manage to unload the car at the motel without getting that wet.
We went to Branson, Missouri for our mini vacation. We rode the ducts which I enjoyed because someone else did the driving. I tried taking a few pictures, but I don't think they turned out very good. It definitely wasn't picture taking weather. It was pretty with the fog coming up out of the trees when you were in the hills. It made it look like someone had a stove going with smoke coming out.
We went to two really good shows. The first was the Magnificent Variety Show which started with music from the 40's to the current day. The two main stars of that show has a little 5 year old daughter that performed in the show. She was really cute. We have gone to this show starting before she was born because it changes every year. They use to have a dinner show, but the theatre they were in got sold and the new theatre they can't serve dinner in it. The funny thing is the show that was coming into their old theatre has ran into a snag. They were bring a show call Kung Fu from China. They are having problems getting their visa's so they don't know if it is going to open up or not.
The second show we went to was called Shake, Rattle, and Roll. It was all the 50's music which was awesome because it was back when we were in high school. It was really high energy and they had very good vocal singers as well as dancers. I would go sit through them again because we enjoyed them that much. We brought home a video of the Shake, Rattle, and Show.
One thing about this trip, I didn't go shopping in the rain. I was tired of getting wet. Unless you went to a place where you were inside, you just didn't go because it was raining and at times it would absolutely poured. It didn't stop some from going to Silver Dollar City, but they were really soaked when they got back to the motel. They didn't need to worry about getting wet on the water rides.
It will take me a little while, but I will be catching up with you to see what you all have been up to. You all have a wonderful day.

Winning

These were the things that was in my box from Marcia at Vintage French Hen. My pictures don't do it justice. The box came with Vintage music on the outside of the box. The sea shells were really pretty. The big one was pink in color, the bottle had little ones and sand in it. A pair of vintage clip on ear rings. My blue plate has a turtle on it with three more sea shells laying on it.

I love the vintage embroidery which you all know that by looking at the things that I do. There was a vintage pattern it just to name a few. I am just sorry that my pictures don't do it justice, but I love everything that was in the box.

This was my magnolia tree in bloom before all of the crazy weather. Today is was rain all day and in the 40's with a strong wind. There is another round headed our way yet tonight. We had to turn the heat back on at work and the electricity blink just enough for my computer at work to go down twice today. It is a pain when you are in the middle of something to have that to happen.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. We were out to my son's to take the car seat home for a little while. My 5 year old had to tell me about the six fish that he caught. They go fishing at my brother's where they pretty much can drive down to the pond. He will be having graduations ceremonies this next week from preschool. He had to remind me about that and I told him Grandma has it marked on the calendar.
I can't wait for Thursday because we are going to take a much needed time away from everything. I don't think the weather is going to be much better, but it is suppose to warmer. I will tell you about that when we get home.
You all have a wonderful week.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

I wanted to take this time to wish all of you a Happy Mother's Day. I know there may be some of you who have lost their mother or a child and my heart goes out to you at this special time. I lost my mother several years ago .
My babysitting the boys was so much fun. Did you know Ol Mac Donald's Farm has monkeys on it. My youngest grandson has all kinds of animals on the farm and both of the boys was singing for grandma.
I have never had both boys in the car at the same time , they were to busy talking and singing that they didn't have time to give me any back seat directions. Matt was telling Ethan about his new Pony. Of course, when we got to Matt's house we had to go see the pony.
Matt's mommy got home right as the storm started last night. Some areas in town had hail damage, but we were lucky in that respect. One of the guys at work has a new car only about two weeks old with hail damage. I know the lightening was close to the house and I shut the computer down and went to bed. We are suppose to be down in the 30's tonight so I turned on the heat.
You won't be seeing the quilt that I was working on for a while. The little one that I was making it for pass away this week. We were hoping for miracles, but the baby came three months early and weighed less then 2 pounds. I will maybe work on it again in the future, but I just don't feel like it at the present time.
Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother's Day.

WONDERFUL WEEKEND

The weekend was beautiful and the rain went around us so that the air show could go on. I still am dealing with some sunburn on my face, but it was well worth it. Saturday was the best day because there was a breeze and it wasn't as hot as Sunday.

One of our friends ended up going both days and had to go to the doctor for a shot because of the sunburn. I just new better then to push my luck.

We were really lucky in parking and the time it took us to get out of there. I heard today that it took 4 hours for some of them to get out.

I just know if they bring the jet truck back they do not want to have him that close to the people because he caused several people to have breathing problems because he smoked the crowd and you couldn't see a foot in front of you. You could spell the jet fuel and I don't know what else he mixed it with.

My son-in-law came out and fixed my rider tonight so now I can get to mowing on my yard because it will take some doing. I am just glad that he could fix it and it didn't cost me a lot of money.

Tomorrow evening I am picking my 5 year old grandson from preschool, then go get my 4 year old grandson from his other grandmother's because we are going to baby sit him. I will come get my hubby before I take the oldest home. Mommy is gone and daddy couldn't get both boys at the same time. The last I talked to my daughter-in-law she was in the Atlanta airport waiting on a flight to Montgomery. That flight was suppose to go at 10:40 PM, but the way flights had been cancelled I wouldn't be sure of it. She was thankful she just had carry on luggage and no bags to check.

I have never had both boys in the car at the same time so I will have two back seat drivers. It should be a lot of fun.

Well it is late so I had better close. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Beautiful Weekend

The imagine is compliments of Debbi over at All in My Cottage. I love roses and I thought that this was so pretty. The weather has really been great for the airshow sunny, windy, and not to hot. I came home with a sun and wind burn so my face is a little red and I have a perfect V from my shirt.
The Blue Angels were awesome and if they come to your area take the time to watch. They fly those planes so close together. Handicap parking was on base so it was really nice. The flying that we saw was really neat and how it didn't make them sick after all of the dives, rolls, flying backwards you just name it.
Of course, there was a lot of other planes to see that was used many years ago and still fly today. You could take a ride if you wanted to pay $400.00 . If I wanted to spend that kind of money, I would want to be going someplace on vacation I think.
Friday was a miserable drive to the city for a doctor appointment. I thought I would be on the back side of rush hour traffic, but that was sure wrong. I think everybody had the same idea. Of course, it was raining hard making it hard to see where you were going. It is a state law that you are suppose to use your headlights if you are using your windshield wipers. Wouldn't you know that people don't do that. I was glad to get down and back and the appointment went well with no changes in the insulin dosages. We just keep plugging away and take every day we get. I went to work in the afternoon and got to see some of the planes doing a rehearsal for Saturday and Sunday's show. I saw the Blue Angels in their diamond formation and them getting in line for the last fly over.
Have a wonderful week. The next post will be of a giveaway that I won. I just need to finish my pictures. I hope to do it soon.

Big Weekend

The week and month is almost over and I really don't know where it is gone. We have a lot of activities that you can chose from this weekend. You can attend the airshow with the Blue Angels, go to the Apple Blossom Parade and see the Clydesdale horses, go to the opera at the local college, attend a barbecue cook off, a quilt show, an ice show, a big flea market, that is to just name a few.
I know we want to go to the airshow, but I don't know which day it will be. It depends on whether my son has to work Saturday or not. I know it will be fun and we will see some really neat planes that are going to be on display. We haven't had an air show like this for along time.
Does anybody have any suggestions as what to do for a preschool graduation present? My grandson Matt is having a graduation ceremonies the 20Th of this next month. They have their little caps and gowns to wear. They are going to have a program that if it was anything like their Christmas program it will really be cute. The 5 year old can really be fun to watch.
We only had an eight grade graduation, and high school graduation programs back when I went to school. Now they have more.
I am back working on a baby quilt that I need to finish for a very special little one. He came into this world three months early weighing less then 2 pounds. He is now up to almost three pounds and is really gaining. He is a fighter that is for sure. The latest picture I got to see showed his little arms and legs filling out. I wanted to just get it done and give it to the family, but then if something went wrong would they want that remembering it was for him. Some people are funny that way. I know I have family that had lost a little one at 6 months to crib death and one at birth and they wouldn't for a long time come to the family get together and be around other babies. It has since changed and they have two grandchildren.
Tomorrow is another work day and Friday I have to make a trip to the city for a doctor appointment. It should be more or less routine, but you never know until you get there. Have a wonderful weekend.

WEEKEND RAIN

The rain started Thursday and has continued through the day. I am glad to see it because it has helped my allergies some. I haven't been typing quite as much as usual. Have you ever tried typing when your eyes were watering so much that it gave the appearance of crying when you weren't. It made things a little blurring and hard to read.
It stayed on the cool side, but we managed to escape the hail and severe weather. The lighting made it look like an electrical parade and I shut down several appliances with it sounded so close to the house. We had lighting strike our house several years ago, but it still bothers me to this day at times.
Next weekend is our big Airshow with the Blue Angels, our Apple Blossom Parade with the Clydesdale horses thanks to our Budweiser distributor here in town, they are putting on an Ice Skating show at our ice rink, and I have forgotten what else is going on. It seems like at times they plan everything for the same weekend.
I have several projects that I need to get finished and as quick as I do I will be posting pictures of them. I just need to stay home a little more then I do. My hubby thinks at times we should live in the car. He is home all the time so he wants to go and doesn't seem to understand that there are times that I would just love to stay home.
Have a wonderful weekend. I will try to do a better job about blogging and visiting.

It's Almost Thursday

I don't know where the time has gone this week, but it has really flown by. I guess it is because I haven't had the time to read the blogs and leave as many comments as I normally like to do.
I have had a problem with my allergies the last few days to where I have felt really miserable. They were causing me to have an earache and sore throat from the drainage. The one medication just made me want to sleep and I do mean sleep. I couldn't do that and still be the primary care giver to my hubby that I need to be.
We are trying some new medication, which I don't really know if it will work or not. So far, so good, but I haven't taken enough doses yet. We are monitoring it really close as daily conversations with the doctors office.
Both of my younger two grandson's are taking swimming lessons at the YMCA. It is a heated pool so they can't say the water is to cold and it works better with mommies schedules. They would go every day if you would take them, that is how much they like the water. I just want them to learn to swim because they have friends who have swimming pools that they visit.
I haven't been to see either of the boys because of the allergy problem, but we talked on the phone and that helped. It has really been busy at work and I want to be gone for a long weekend this next month so I really have things I need to get done.
It is way past time that I need to be in bed, but I am not sleepy. That could a side effect of the new medication I hope not. I really don't know why I have such a horrible time of finding medications that I can take at times. My kids tell me I am just weird. Leave it to them to make you feel better.
You all have a wonderful rest of the week and the weekend.
