A short post tonight to let you know It will be a hit and miss visiting right now. I fell on the ice yesterday as I was going to breakfast at Perkin's. My day didn't go as planned. I was going to see my hubby after breakfast instead I ended up in the ER having x-rays. I didn't break my knee, but I have damaged it. You know how a person will sit with the leg bent back to the side. That was the way my left leg ended up. I had two nice people who helped me up. I was going up the handicap ramp which had black ice on it that I didn't see and I was trying to be so careful.I am to call the doctor tomorrow and go see him in the office as quick as I can get in. I have to keep it elevated on two pillows with it in a brace and I can't do that very easy at my computer. It wasn't the way I had planned to spend my four days off that is for sure. Hope you all have a wonderful New Year. Be safe.

2013 Around the Corner
Are you ready for 2013? Have you made your New Year's resolution? My four day weekend started at 4:45 P.M. this evening. I didn't have to stop at the store and I was glad. It was snowing when I came home from work. We were to have flurries, so we shall see what the ground looks like in the morning. It was damp and cold. We never did get above 25, but with the wind chill it was colder yet.
I did my grocery shopping last night so I wouldn't be caught in the crowd. The last time I went when it was storming. It took me over a hour to just get my groceries and get to the car. I just pick a different time when it is not as crowded.
Did you have a nice Christmas? We invaded the nursing home on Christmas Eve. We were all there with hubby excepting for our oldest and the way the weather and all has been I am glad he didn't try to come home. We have talked with him several times. Hubby had an enjoyable supper eating what he liked and seeing his boys. The two younger ones had to help push grandpa back to his room. When we left the nursing home, we went back to our daughter's house. I got a little bag to carry my scissors, needles, tape measure, and all the little gadgets that you need for sewing and a nice cup that you can use for hot and cold beverages.
Christmas morning I went to breakfast and Santa bought me breakfast tip and all. It was a pleasant surprise and I almost cried. I didn't expect anything like that. After that I spent the day with hubby, I embroidered and he slept. He would wake up every so often and make sure I was still there and doze back off. I would almost say he had pain medication, but he said he hadn't. They could give it to people without their knowledge because they are just handed a container and tell them there is their meds.
I don't know what my weekend will bring. It depends on the weather. I just know that the alarm clock won't be set and I get to sleep as late as I want.
I thought I would show you my owl that I got finished. If you go out for New Year's Eve, please careful and safe. Stay warm. Hugs and Prayers going out to those in need. May you all have a wonderful weekend.

Christmas Eve
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you in blog land. The snow arrived this past Thursday with the high winds causing blackouts. I went to work on Friday, but it took a while to get there. They are predicting more snow, but hopefully it is going to miss us, but some of the areas that may have snow aren't prepared for that kind of weather. The ground is white and the kids have enjoyed sledding and tubing. Snow Creek down by Weston, Missouri has open so you can hit the slopes close to home if you want to ski, snow boarding, or tubing. They make artfical snow, but the snow helped them too. I don't ski, but I like to watch them on television. I don't know about you, but I do have favorites.
If you are traveling, please be careful. We want to be able to visit you next year. Have you thought about your New Year's Resolution? I know I am rushing it since we haven't even had Christmas yet, but I want the year over with and let a new year begin. I am praying that 2013 will be a better year for all of us. The sun is trying to break through the clouds. We got up in the 40's yesterday, but it is only 18 degrees now with winds coming out of the north.
We talked to our oldest yesterday. His dad was wanting to talk to him. He was working Christmas day. When I talked to him earlier, he said he had it off. He always worked holidays and this will make his day go faster being he didn't come home. I am glad about it with all of the bad weather that is being predicted. We still have icy patches on the streets. I don't think they treated them. I know that they used a road grader to clean my street.
Well I need to get back to my baby quilt that I am embroidering. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Digging Out
Matt has arrived to dig me out after the blizzard that we have had. Major highways shut down because of all the accidents that they have had today. My family has all been accounted for so far today. My daughter-in-law made it to work and she will call when she gets home this evening. She was glad she went down and saw her dad yesterday before this hit.
I got to stay home which didn't bother me at all because I really didn't want to get out there with people who drive like idiots. It was about noon before I saw people going by the house. I knew I could go if I got out of my driveway, but the snow drift had to be moved first that was right behind my car.
It makes me wish that I had a fireplace that I could curl up in front of and enjoy the warmth, but the house is warm so there is not a problem. I keep it set at one temperature. How many of you remember your house being heated by wood stoves and taking a iron wrapped in newspaper to bed with you to help keep you warm. I have talked with my hubby twice today so he is o.k. Santa played them a visit at the nursing home this afternoon. He was telling me what he got and sounded happy that is the main thing. It is hard to spend the holidays at the nursing home, but we keep taking every day that we get.
My sister called to tell me that Chelsey arrived around 8:30 weighed in at 5 lbs and 13 ounces, 19 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing fine for being a month early. I told my sister that I don't have my quilt done yet. I thought I still had time yet to get it done. She said not to worry about it. I will get it finished.
The picture of the little reindeer in the red shirt is my middle grandson taken at his Christmas program that I went to.
I am sure thankful that I got my hubby back to the nursing home before all of this hit. It was pouring down rain when I came home from the store last night. I was hoping maybe that it would just freeze dry, but the snow and wind came. We had winds up to 45 miles a hour and blizzard conditions. We had quite a thunderstorm there for a while with lightening. You could just hear the wind howl.
After not having to go to work, I went back to bed and slept a while longer this morning. I hope you are o.k. where you are. Some of you are in for quite a storm that headed your way. I have a nephew that lives in Des Monies and they had a lot of snow.
You all take care and stay safe.

Merry Christmas
Christmas is quickly approaching and things will definitely be different at our house.
I brought my hubby home from the hospital back to the nursing home last night. The only way to fix the hip dislocation is surgery and he would never make it after receiving 7 units of blood the last time. He will walk again, but with a limp. It will probably be a good 6 weeks to 2 months yet to go before it gets healed. I just wonder what will happen next. I just know the doctor and us were on the same page about the surgery. He would really like to know when it happened, but that will probably remain a mystery.
I am listening to it rain and it is not that far above freezing so I don't know if I will wake up to ice or snow. I didn't go up to see hubby just talked on the phone. I went to the store and got me some groceries so I would have something in the house to eat.
I talked to my oldest this past Saturday evening. I came home and baby sit the oldest two while mommy and daddy went to a Christmas party. I had really a good time with the boys. We ate KFC chicken strips, mash potatoes, gravy and cold slaw with hot biscuits. That was fine with me.
The kids told me they were going to wrap me in bubble wrap. My oldest grandson went up to check on his other grandfather. He found him in the floor. He had a stroke and is paralysis on the left side at the moment. He is in the Va hospital. I am thankful that he was still alive. I don't know how it would have been if he had passed away.
My son asked my daughter-in-law what she wanted for Christmas. She told him she just wanted to do for the kids this year.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Tears
No pictures today, but I have cried much the last two days. For all the little ones that lost their lives because of a senseless act. I don't understand what makes people do this. We have had several shootings of late. Gun control, I don't really think that would stop someone if they were intent on killing people, they would just find another way to do it.
My grandsons aren't that young, but I would hate to lose any of them especially during the holiday season. My mother died December 18th and my father died on Christmas Day. It has been several years, but you still think about it. It is especially hard at Christmas. Each year you heal, how the parents and love ones will heal after the horrible shooting will take a while. I know I found my Christmas still in the boxes a year after my father died.
My hubby is back in the hospital. When they took the x-rays it showed his hip he had replaced is dislocated. We don't know how it happened, but I cried. They say that they can put it back hopefully without surgery. They have to put him to sleep to do it. The worry is whether he will wake up afterwards with all of his health issues. I am off to the hospital this morning. I did baby sit my two oldest grandsons last night. My 8 year old set in the chair with me and read a book to me. We looked at the Lego book he got at the library. He told me what he could build and what pieces he had. He would tell me the colors of pieces and then he went and got what he had made using his imagination. He has a very good imagination. His momma says there is lots of little pieces on the floor, but she doesn't say much because she knows that his little brain is working.
Well, I am off to the hospital for the day and will probably stay the night. Prayers going out for all of those in need. Take care.

Weekend Rain
I drove home from the nursing home in the rain tonight. It was raining hard enough I had to turn on the windshield wipers. We went to see the orthopedic surgeon today and thought that everything was going good to only find out after the x-rays were taken this evening that his right hip is dislocated. He had just started putting weight on it today and took 4 steps. We go to ER tomorrow and the orthopedic surgeon is on call. They are to notify him of our arrival and I don't know what will happen from there excepting we are back to where he can't put any weight on it again. I have cried this evening, but I had left before he saw the tears come.
I have to get myself back strong with whatever comes. If they admit him to the hospital, I will come home because I am to babysit my oldest two grandsons and I need a change of scenery. I don't want to miss the time I was to get to spend with them, but we will have to wait and see.

Even if he had been able to continue to put weight on hip, we knew we were going to have to take Christmas to him. I watched physical therapy today and he has a long ways to go to build back the strength that he has lost.
Let us say prayers for all of those who lost their lives in the shooting today. It doesn't make sense to me. They were so young to have their lives snatched from them. If you have a child, give them an extra hug tonight.

The picture is of my youngest grandson. They are doing Christmas theme's at school . The theme was Snowmen. This is Mr. Snowman with his corn cob pipe. I thought he made a cute snowman. The Christmas tree in the background is one of many that his other grandma has up in their home. She decorates every room and some even have two trees. Beautiful.
Oh yes, I won Maggie's fudge giveaway and it arrived today. I have already had two pieces and it is yummy, yummy, yummy, It is one of the things I like during this holiday season.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and say an extra prayer for me. I will update you when I know more.

Cold Weather
The cold weather has arrived. We haven't had any bad weather yet and I am hoping that we don't for a little while longer. I had to chuckle to myself tonight, my youngest grandson wanted to know why my laundry was at his house. I told him mommy did it because my dryer is broke. I had been drying some things on a dryer rack in the bathroom.
I wasn't really ready to start with winter clothes. I was getting spoiled with the warmer weather, but it is December. The Christmas shopping is done and my daughter even helped to wrap it for me. It was really fun having someone to shop with and she did the driving. I just rode and enjoyed every minute of it. I went up and saw my other half tonight. He would be talking and the next minute he would be sleeping in his wheelchair. They were going to come and put him to bed when I left. He is a little discourage because of it being the holidays and he knows he won't be able to go out for Christmas. I told him his grandsons already have it planned how they are going to help him celebrate Christmas. They won't tell me it is a surprise.
I am baby sitting this Saturday Evening with my older two grandsons. We are going to go see hubby at the nursing home, then out for supper, just my two boys and me. I don't know where we will go for supper, but I am sure they will pick some place good.
My oldest made a gift box with his scroll saw and I can't wait to see the finished box. His top looked like a gift with the ribbon design he made. I got to see that part and it was awesome. He was also helping make Christmas ornaments for teachers and some others. One was an old-fashioned sleigh with Santa saying Merry Christmas underneath the sleigh. It was really neat. He is very good in woodworking.
We want to wish all of you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I will be stopping by as often as I can. Your friendship means the world to me and is helping get through our trying times. Progress is very slow.

Rain
Where was the rain when we needed it so badly this summer? It rained on me coming home from the nursing home tonight. At least the temperature was still in the 40's so I didn't have to worry about it turning to ice.
I am so glad that it is the weekend. Did you ever have a day when no matter what you tried to do, nothing was going right? I am working on the month I was gone from work and I would love to push it in file 13, but I won't . I will get it figured out just may take a little longer then I thought.
I think hubby was a little down tonight. It is the holidays and hard on him that he is unable to go Christmas shopping, to the Christmas programs, and all. We will find out if he can begin to put weight on his hip or not this next Friday when we go see the doctor. The Nursing home will take him in the van and I will ride down with them. I think we are both looking forward to that visit so we know exactly where we are at with the healing process. I saw some of the open wounds tonight. They don't look that good in my opinion. I need to try to get a hold of the doctor that is treating him there to find out what the biopsy showed that they did on his leg.
I went last night to see him, then I went to Matt's Christmas program before I came home. I enjoyed watching the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders perform. Their program lasted about 40 minutes which is about as long as they go before they get restless. It didn't take them very long to clear out after the program.
I am trying to do a little me time to keep me going. Now you know why I keep so busy. It is to give me other things to think about. Well I need to bring this to a close. I am going Christmas shopping with my daughter and her husband. They are going to help me finish my shopping so that I don't have to worry about it. Take care and Have a wonderful weekend.

DECEMBER
The last month of the year has started. I wonder if it will fly by as fast as the last two have flown. I just hope this month is better then the last two have been at our house. As many of you know my hubby is in a nursing home at the moment getting physical therapy that he needs. He is making progress, but has been a slow process. We are hoping maybe by Christmas that we will be able to take him out for the day, but it will remain to be seen. He still isn't allowed to put pressure on his right hip and leg yet.
I have been asked about my staying very busy with everything that I do. I keep very busy so that I have other things to think about besides my hubby. I have taken care of him for so long that I feel like part of me is missing even though I know I am unable to do so and that he is in a much better place. He has a new room mate now and they both like each other which makes it really nice for a change.
I delivered a tea towel this morning and I have an order for an owl tea towel for two little 8 year olds. They go to school with my middle grandson. I am going this Thursday night to watch his program after I go see hubby. They have a surprise for the parents and grandparents a very special song. It will be fun to watch regardless. I am looking forward to it.
This past Thursday evening I went to The Taste of Home Cooking School with my daughter and daughter-in-law. We had really a good time and I won one of the many door prizes that they gave away. When we left, they were going to auction off the appliances that had been used for the show. It was here at our college which made it all the better. We didn't have that far to drive.
I have missed all of you and hope that I can get back to visiting a little more often. It is time I call it a night and hit the sack as the saying goes. Have a great rest of the weekend.

This and That
These last few days have absolutely flew by. You would like for them to go a little slower. How many of you were brave and went shopping on Black Friday?
Thanksgiving was spent at my son and daughter-in-laws.along with my daughter, son-in-law and my three grandsons. It was really wonderful because the girls did the cooking. I just had to show up. They were about ready to call me because I was later getting there then they thought I would be.
The boys were going to ride horses, but Cleo didn't want to cooperate. She hadn't been rode lately and she didn't want to be rode. They didn't seem to mind that they didn't get to. My oldest did ride her and a couple of times I thought he was going off, but he stayed on her for which I was very thankful for.
Later in the day after hubby had talked to everyone by phone, I went and spent the rest of the day with him. I took some of his daughter's apple pie made from scratch, and some cranberry mini tarts made by his grandson Matt. He has a very poor appetite which is due to all of the medication that he is taking.
On Friday, my daughter-in-law , oldest two grandsons, and I went to Jamesport, Missouri. We did a lot of walking looking at the craft show which was located in different buildings. I didn't see anything that I couldn't live without. I did go to the fabric shop, the bakery, and the grocery store. I found some old-fashioned candy that we had at Christmas time when I was a child. At the bakery, I bought me a cinnamon roll, a little pie, and got a fried pie to try. I, also, did find a small container of strawberry jam that was meant more for one person. Today I had to go to the pharmacy, that I really didn't want to do. People were so rude. I really don't understand what their problem was.
I thought I would show you a couple of tea towels and pillowcases that I have been working on lately. I did start a baby quilt today while I was visiting my hubby. He would be talking and then just doze off. They told me it was because of medications, but it makes me wonder if I am really getting told right. .
Tomorrow I am on a mission to find a small size bottle of Woolite. I need it to wash a tea towel that I just finished that is sold. I guess I will try the regular grocery store and see if I have any luck tomorrow. I don't want a big bottle because I just don't have the need for it. Did you all have a good Thanksgiving? Did you eat to much like a lot of us did? I think I walked a lot of mine off, but I did get a care package to bring home of left overs. I just finished them off tonight. Well it is getting late so I think I will hit the sack or should say go to bed. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in blog land. I have missed you all, but just haven't had enough hours at the moment. I finished my last craft show this past Sunday for the year. I was embroidering a tea towel while I set there and I sold it before I even had it done. I will be probably delivering it this week.. I just have to keep the hands very busy right now to give me other things to think about other then what is going on with my other half. .
All I have to do for Thanksgiving is just show up at my son and daughter-in-law's house for dinner. The kids feel like mom has enough on her plate at the present time and they are looking after me. My son called from Louisiana tonight to check on mom. I told him he must have known I wanted to talk with him. He is my sounding board at times when I need another opinion. He has a four day weekend, but he isn't coming home. He says that it cost to much to fly home and he spent to much money while he was home. He was having polish sausage, with cabbage, carrots, turnips, onion, and potatoes cooked in his crock pot for his Thanksgiving. It is good. He has fixed it a few times when he was staying with us. I don't think he is coming home for Christmas, but we will wait and see on that one.
After eating with the kids, I will go up to the nursing home for a while. My daughter-in-law and I are going either Friday or Saturday to Jamesport. Missouri for the day. She is doing the driving and I am just riding. I don't know if the boys are going with us or staying with their dad. There is a craft show going on there besides doing the stores. I have a few places I want to go such as the grocery store, the fabric shop, and a couple of other places. The grocery store has old fashioned Christmas candy like we had when I was a child. I am going to go to the bakery with her too. For one thing she is getting her chocolate to make the Christmas candy, you know the peanut clusters for one.
I am looking forward to going. I don't know if I will spend that much money, but it will be something different. My daughter was going, but she needed to take care of some things at home. She wanted to start decorating for Christmas being she was home for an extra day. She drives over a hour one way to work every day so needless to say that doesn't leave much time to do things in the evening when she gets home.
Taste of Home Cooking School is going to be here in our city. We were going, but I don't know about that right now. You all have a great Thanksgiving. Take care

Upside down
Have you ever felt like you are turned upside down and don't know which is up or down? I have really missed being able to visit you all here in blog land. You don't really know how much it is part of your life until your routine has been turned upside down. Making decisions for other people's life is hard. You second guess yourself that you are hoping it was the right decision. The minutes seem like hours and drag ever so slow you don't want to watch the clock because that makes it worse because you think the hands are never going to move. The tears roll and you have to pull yourself together to be strong even though on the inside you feel emotionally and mentally drained. Finally getting to sleep in your own bed helps some and you have to trust others to take good care of your love one.
Today was the first day that my hubby actually ate two of his meals in the dining room with the other patients. He pushed himself and tried a little more then he probably should plus spending to long sitting in his wheel chair because he was really hurting when they put him back to bed. It will only be three weeks tomorrow since his surgery. They took the staples out today and I didn't think it looked as good as I have seen it look. The urologist took out his cathecather because of the infection. They have changed some medications again so maybe things will change. We have good days and bad.
I know that I didn't get to visit with my son as much as I would have liked, but he did take care of some things for mom while he was here. I have talked to him since he went back and he seems to know when mom needs to hear his voice. I will go Saturday, eat lunch with my bubby and spend the rest of the afternoon with him. One of the craft shows I was going to do got cancelled. I have one more this Sunday 10-4, but I still can't see how we are going to fit in the room. They are saying there are 16 vendors. We shall see. I know if I don't like how it goes, I won't do it again. My grandson and I had a lot of fun this past weekend. We sold some. My john Deere green pillowcases went fast. I am working on another set and hope to have them done by this weekend.
Hope everyone is doing well and know that I have missed everyone of you. Take care until the next time

UPDATE FROM OUR HOUSE
Just a short not to bring you up to date at our house. They took hubby to the nursing home on Election Day from the hospital in a care van. There was no way I could transport him with taking so many people to get him up. Of course, they used this neat machine that took that problem away. It will six to eight weeks recuperating from a hip replacement, injured foot, and they say that he has shingles all on the right side of his body. They didn't turn him enough so he has some bed sores in other areas. I think that it will probably be closer to two months with him being a diabetic before we get to come home. I was glad to get him out of the hospital, the food and sofa was not the best in the world. I stayed with him 24/7 except when he was in ICU and they said I couldn't. If I had tried to stay at the hospital, I would have slept close to an elevator in a visitation room. I just have a problem dealing with that so I would make the drive home and go back the next morning.
I have gone back to work and will go to see him in the evening for about a hour or so. I am looking forward to Saturday because my grandson and I are doing a craft show that we have been looking forward to doing for so long. It will be a good change of scenery for me. Our son from Louisana is home, but will be heading back before long. He has taken care of some things here at the house for me such as putting in light bulbs, etc. He is lamenting he has to shave off his beard because of the job he is going to when he gets back he has to be clean shaven. It is good to have him home even if it is such a short time and has gone so fast. Well I am off to work Hope you all are having a good week and a good weekend.
Sunday, October 28, 2012
Just made it home after spending the day at the hospital. They won't let me stay all night with him in ICU so it is about 35 minute drive home depending on traffic.
It has been a trying weekend, but the blood count has held after 7 units from the time of surgery until last night.
Today was spent dealing with the pain medicine. You buy yarn at Lowe's, His heart monitor need plugged in, except he was hooked up to a wireless one, he itched, just a few of the things to deal with. The way he was scratching, I was afraid that he would get where he was scratching bleeding. They came in and gave him medicine for that so between the two he was almost to sleep as I was getting ready to leave. They did sit him up in a chair, but he was so afraid that he was going to fall. they took pictures of his foot this morning. It is not broke just badly bruised so needless say his whole right side is very painful to try to put any wait on it.
They bent the rules so he could see his grandson yesterday. It made him feel a little better seeing him. I will have to take pictures of what I have got done at the hospital. I made my first embroidered handkerchief.
Well I need to go to bed. All prayers are greatly appreciated. Have a good week. I just want the month over with.

Your Prayers are Needed
No pictures tonight, but just a quick post. Hubby is in ICU after having a total hip replacement. He fell during the night at the nursing home fracturing his right hip. To fix it required the total replacement and he lost a lot of blood. They have finally got him back to a little over 9, but still losing so may have to have more. It has been a very stressful two days. I came home tonight, but they would not let me stay in ICU. I needed to take care of a few things and I will go back in the morning. They were having problems waking him because of the morphine and what they gave him to put him to sleep in surgery. I told them no more morphine because it makes him so dopey and they were going to change that. Your prayers are desperately needed. Miss you guys.

A different Anniversary
We have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and other holidays in many different ways, but this was the first for a nursing home celebration. They were waiting for me to get there Friday evening so they could sing Happy Anniversary to us and wish us many more. It was nice and I ate supper with him. He is progressing with his physical therapy. Each day he is getting a little stronger, but we have a ways to go yet. I have a meeting Thursday for a progress report to find out more of what to expect. They have started him on the steps and he made it up to nine.
We have two cub scouts. This is Ethan's first year and Matt's second. They both earned their badges in riflery and archery. They got to shoot a BB gun out at Camp Geiger. They thought that was good. Jake went to and was the official photographer for his mom and took pictures of the boys. They had a good time. Their Uncle John was an Eagle Scout and you can only hope that maybe they will continue on through their life and become one to.
The weekend turned off to be a gorgeous. We spend time sitting outside enjoying the fresh air visiting with others who was doing the same thing. Friday was cold and rainy. I was wondering why I saw so many highway patrolmen. It was homecoming and they have a lot of underage drinking going on. Wrecks where young people have been seriously injured or lost their lives. You wonder where the parents are and if they know what is going on.
It doesn't seem like the month should be flying so fast, but it is. We have two family birthdays this week, but we are going to celebrate later. Hopefully grandpa will be out of the nursing home. My grandson doesn't care because he is going to Branson on a trip. Ours was postponed this year, maybe next who knows.
I have been putting the finishing edges on the tea towels. It gives me something to do while I visit him. Well it is getting late and tomorrow is back to work. Have a great week

49 years tomorrow
The weather was nothing like this when we got married all those years ago. It was truly a beautiful day. In the afternoon, you could set outside and enjoy the sunshine. It was that way all the time we were gone. We love the fall of the year. We want to make it next year to our 50th and we will have a celebration one way or the other.
A fire in the fireplace would have felt good tonight after I came home from the nursing home. Here it is the 18th of October and the weather has turned cold. It was really windy, raining and cold. There was snow just two hours away from us. I am not ready for that this early. I know the weather has been weird this year everywhere and the time is flying. I don't know where the month of September has gone let alone this month is almost gone to.
I am looking forward to the 2nd week of November not only the election will be over with, but our oldest is coming home so he can cast his vote and take back somethings with him. He will be here for a few days and those days will fly to fast while he is here. It is always so much better when you see them in person and you can give them a hug or vice versa. I know there are three boys anxious to see their uncle. One is marking the new Lego catalog with what he is wanting his uncle to get him. Of course, they are always building something.
Hubby has been progressing, but has a ways to go. We aren't rushing anything. Just taking it one day at a time. I go see him in the evening about a hour during the week and a little longer during the weekend. I have been getting some much needed rest that is why he is spending time in the nursing home so that I can.
I hope you all have been having a wonderful week. I am ready for the weekend. Sleeping late on Saturday and Sunday, Enjoying every minute of it. Take care

Catch Up
It has been a rainy, windy weekend. I did get some extra on Saturday and Sunday. It seemed so strange to go shopping all by myself. It is one luxury that I don't normally have.
Hubby has officially been at the nursing home for a week and he was not a happy camper tonight. His roommate who makes three times of him didn't think they should bring my hubby a recliner to sit in. They have been getting him up in the morning and leave him sitting in his wheel chair all day long. The only time he gets out of it is when he has physical therapy or goes to the bathroom. It makes it harder for the roomy to get out of his bed because he is so big. If he would exercise, then just maybe he might lose some weight. I have never seen him have company. They take him his meals to the room, he is always watching tv and I haven't figured it out what his problem is. Physically he just looks big.Oh well, enough on him. I took hubby school pictures of his oldest two grandsons. Their school pictures weren't that bad for a change. The oldest is now 5'6". He isn't putting on any weight just growing taller. Even little brother is getting taller. Do Your remember hunting for odd size jeans. Matt is in a 7 slim. I remember the fun I had finding the sizes 7, 9, and etc.
My grandson is getting ready for the craft show that we do together each year. We always have fun and that is the main thing. I have been popping in and out reading blogs just not enough hours to leave comments. I am in bed before 9:30, which is an exception to the rule. I am just tired emotionally, mentally with trying to get caught up at work, going to see him every evening for a while. I am just frustrated thats all.
I have pictures coming of the last horse show of the season when it was so cold. They really dressed warm and some of the pictures were cute. I am even getting a picture of momma riding. That is the first time that I have seen her ride. They only took 214 pictures.
I need to get back on my embroidery. I am working on Christmas. Have a great week.

This and Than
It is amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it. I have quite a few projects that I need to get finished. Our first craft show will be coming up and I am trying to get ready for that along with making some new things for my etsy shop. I thought I would give you a sneak peak at a lap quilt I finished. It is one that I changed the colors. Sometimes I like them so much that it is hard to let them go.
I kept busy while I was sitting at the hospital embroidering tea towels. It didn't take to long to do them with nothing else to do. I worked on whatever suited my fancy for the day. I had to keep my mind busy to help stay calm for my other half and give him love and support. He fractured the 1st and 4th vertebrae. The procedure cut down some of the pain, but not completely. It is something new. We ended up longer in the hospital then we were suppose to because of him running a temperature. .
He is in the nursing home right at the moment and they have started physical therapy. I had to go take care of paper work this afternoon and I ate supper with him. We ate with a couple that I use to work with a lot of years ago. They have been married 60 years and both are in the nursing home. They are letting them share a room which I thought was only fitting.
I talked with his physical therapist this afternoon when I took him up his sweats. She said that he was tired this afternoon when they took him back for some more. He only had his procedure done Friday and it will take time just don't know how much. We will just take it one day at a time.
I hope he got situated this evening. I figure they will get to clean up a few accidents because they don't get to him quick enough when he has a bowel movement. If they give him pain medication, they will have problems because he will be a little disoriented He can't move the way he wants which he doesn't like. He is use to being independent and now has to have help for a while. I tried to check my spelling, but if I missed a word please excuse me.

Just a Note
No pictures tonight, just a brief note to let you know where I have been. My hubby fell last Tuesday fracturing the 1st and 4th vertebrae in his back. I found him in the floor when I got home from work. It was a learning experience . He had a low blood sugar at lunch and I told him where the orange juice was. Well needless to say, he should have been stationary until his blood sugar came up and then he might not have fallen. To be right honest I hadn't thought about something like that happening. They did a procedure on Friday cementing the two back in place and is now in a nursing home to get physical therapy. I will be going back and forth from work to the nursing home for a couple of weeks. I have missed reading your blogs and I might do some later this evening. Off to fix me something to eat have a great day.

Update
The doctor report is good. I don't have shingles or anything contagious. He gave it a big medical name , but in terms that I could understand is an old age brown spot. The doctor didn't want to say old age. I didn't have a problem with him doing it. At least I could understand that term. The reason I am having some problem with it is because of the location. It is located at my waistline and gets irritated at times with my jeans. He told me what I could use on it. I felt like a lot of weight had been lifted from my shoulders finding out that it was nothing serious. My blood pressure was high, but my day had not started off good. My hubby's blood sugar was really low so I had to address that before I went to work, then I find out my boss is in the hospital, then my doctor appointment which left them very very short handed.
Now happier things. Meet my new friend, Mir bluebird. He is what I won from Donna at Brynwood Needleworks giveaway. He is so cute and makes me think of her every time that I look at him. He is sitting close to my sewing. Donna allowed me to use her picture for which I am thankful for.
The fund raising has started. Now my youngest two grandsons are selling popcorn for Scouts. Of course, you can't buy from one if you don't buy from the other. Oh well grandpa likes his snack of popcorn in the evening so we will use it over time. My oldest will be selling trash bags if it is like last year. Well I need to get my quilt finished if I can this evening I would like to be able to deliver it this Saturday. Have a great day .

Fall is here
Fall is my favorite time of the year. I would love to be going to Branson this next month, but this year it will have to pass. We will just have to take some drives in our area instead of traveling.
The past weekend was absolutely beautiful. Of course, we had some frost on Sunday morning and it was a little cool at 9 A.M. when the horse show started, but later on it was absolutely beautiful sitting there watching the boys ride.
Matt was having a little bit of a problem with Cleo, she just didn't want to do what he needed her to do. When we first got there, he came over to show me his white shirt and new western jeans. He was so proud of them. I will have to get dad to send me some pictures because my camera wouldn't work. He was the youngest in his group and at first they weren't going to let him ride, but he will be 8 this next month. He had to be 8 before the 31st of December so he qualified. He had fun even though he didn't place.
Jake and Fergie didn't do to bad. He got a 4th, 2nd, and a 1st. He was hoping to qualify for a belt buckle again, but he didn't have enough points. He had gotten his mid term grades, all A's and A-. It doesn't seem like he should be graduating in the Spring from the 8th grade. I remember the day that he was born. Time really flies.
Well it back to the city to the doctor's office tomorrow, but I can't blame hubby. I have a place on my back that I don't know what it is. It could be that my shingles are coming back, but we are going to go and find out. It is in about the same area as the shingles were the last time.It wouldn't be a surprise if that is what it is with all of the stress I have been under here lately. My hubby says it looks gross, whatever that means. I can feel it, but I can't see it.
I have been reading your blogs and trying to leave some comments and I appreciate everyone's comments and prayers right now. I need them in more ways then one. Hope you have a beautiful week. We have been in the 70's and low 80's today. It is time to call it a day.

Can I Hide
Can I hide? Have you ever wanted just to go someplace where nobody can find you for a little down time? Do you ever want to shut everybody out for a hour or so and have some peace and quiet with no demands?
I find myself wanting to do just that. I think a lot has to do with frustration with people, who don't really want to take responsibility for fear they will get sued if something goes wrong. I just want some of that special "ME" time that seems to have disappeared of late. We kept our doctor appointment yesterday, but I didn't care for what he told me. We can't do anything for you except maintain you. Well gee, how long are we going to continue that course or do we just put ourselves in gods hand and let what happen, happens. I am not dumb, I know we can't have surgery because we don't know if he will stop bleeding or not. All I asked was would a blood transfusion bring up the blood counts close to normal. I know there is a risk with them, but I, also, know that he seemed to have more energy when we did get the one. Anybody want to get on the Merry Go Round with me. I can't say when you can get off or when it will stop. That is how I feel.I will just have to call our primary and see what he can do for us. See if he can get some answers or maybe has them already.
We have had some beautiful weather the last few days. The temperature dropped when the cold front came through, but it makes you think of fall. The kind when you need a sweater of the morning and none in the afternoon.
I am looking forward to the weekend. The boys are suppose to show and it is suppose to be 71 degrees can you asked for anything better.
My project is almost done, not to much more to go. I get to embroidering and I lose all sense of time. My main problem is breaking needles. I have done quite a bit of that lately. Maybe I need to change brands or something. Well it is getting late and I got to work tomorrow. Have a great day.
