RETIREMENT ???

Are we ever ready for retirement?  Have you thought about what you are going to do in those supposedly golden years?  Was the retirement something you wanted to do, or was it because of your job coming to end because a business is closing?  How do you handle all of the unanswered questions?  As we all age, we think eventually we would like to retire, but with the economy like it is and the prices of everything we feel we can't really afford to. It just might be forced on you whether you are ready or not. Then you have the decision to make about what am I going to do.
I am going to have to make those very decisions whether I am ready or not. It gets harder and harder to compete with the big box stores and with the prices of the insurance and everything else going up. You have to make a very hard decision whether or not to keep a business opened. That decision has been made for me that I am going to be going into retirement. I have always worked and with my hubby in the nursing home, it makes me worry. I know I have been doing an awful lot of praying that god will help me through this. It is so frustrating because I know I will find it very hard to find another job at my age. I have been told I can draw unemployment. It probably won't be what I make now.
It will be like starting all over again doing what is anybody's guess. A lot of places want someone younger even though you have a lot of experience.
Say a lot of prayers for me because I am going to need it. I will be coming to visit some more, but after today, I think I will just call it a day early. Have a good rest of the week.

Growing Your Blog Party

Welcome to growing your blog  party. It will be a lot of fun going and visiting all of the ones in our group. You have arrived at Shirleystitches  and I need to tell you a little about me and my blog. First off my first name is Shirley, a mother of three, grandmother of three, a primary caregiver to my hubby, and work full time. My blog is about this and that which means about our adventures, family, the different things that I love to embroidery which is my stress reliever.

It is my way of traveling and meeting new friends.  Exploring new places and seeing what they like to do.  I admire the ones who are very creative.  I have an etsy shop and you can see what I am involved. If I know it is a person's birthday, I like to stop by their blog and tell them Happy Birthday. They might be living by themselves.  I have friends who are caregivers just like me and we give each other support.

My hubby and I liked to go for drives and you never knew where the adventure was going to take us. We would just pick a direction with no particular destination in mind. My favorite time of the year to travel is the fall.  This  fall was very different  for us. We didn't get to do some of the things that we like.

In the summer, you will read about my oldest two grandsons showing their horses and their adventures. My youngest grandson is taking swimming lessons and I don't know how far he will take it. They each have there own personalities.

The last few months extra time is being spent visiting the nursing home. My hubby had to have a hip replacement and it has been a very slow process.  Last but not least I thought I would leave you  with pictures of my boys, a couple of my projects that I have made.  I will be visiting you all and happy to have found you on blogland.

Strenght Needed

I need all of the strength I can manage to get me through the next few weeks. I got a phone call from the nursing home telling me that my hubby's medicare and supplemental would be out as of the first of the month. That he had used all of his days. How to do you find help in such a short period of time? Where do you go to try to find help? How do manage to make the decisions that will be best for him? I just know that he isn't walking, but they did say he took a few steps today. I am very frustrated as if you couldn't tell. I need a miracle.
There is only two of us at work and my boss  was sick today so I didn't get to work. I don't really know what is going to happen there, but I don't have good feelings about it.  I have a feeling that I am going to  try to go to work and there won't be a job regardless of all of the many things that I need to get accomplished.   I just have so many unanswered questions. I know I am saying a lot of prayers right now. I did get my long distance hug tonight. He had heard that mom needed it. He told me to stay positive, but you know it is awfully hard at times.
Have you tried the new colored striped tea towels? I have tried the black stripe and I was really pleased how they are turning out. I am anxious to try my new spring and Easter patterns on the pastel colors.   I am working on a custom order at the present time. I got two more to make and they will be finished.
I  hope you all are staying warm and safe. We got up to 50 degrees today and we are suppose to have that again tomorrow with the temperature dropping out this weekend. Just what I really want is some more cold weather. I just dress in layers.
Well it is time to go to bed. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

No Snow Just Cold

You didn't have to drive very far to  find the snow. We just had very cold temperatures with a north-northwest wind that made it all the colder.  We were lucky that we didn't get the snow. It is 15 and suppose to get down to 7 degrees/ I know we need the moisture, but I want it to warm up and come in the way of rain.
There is so much sickness going on right now with flu bugs, sinus infections, and others. You try to stay away from the doctor's office and the ER.
We did go down to see the orthopedic doctor on Friday. He has ordered a special shoe built up by an inch and a half. I don't know where they will find that or how soon. He gave him cortisone shot in the knee that has so much arthritis which seem to help some. The only way to fix his knee is surgery and there is no way we (or I should say me) will allow that. The risk is to great to whether he will stop bleeding or not.
Tell me something do you give a child milk products when, they are running a temperature and sick to their stomachs? I always thought you use like 7-up and soda crackers to help settle the stomach or something on that order. Don't you stay home with them and try to get them to drink as much as possible so they don't become dehydrated.  I don't know about the younger generation.
I  have spent the last two days visiting at the nursing home with my other half. His room was so cold today. It is on the northwest corner of the building. It is a block and brick building and I would say there isn't any insulation in the walls. At least they gave them heavier blankets to help them stay warm.
Well have a great week and stay warm.

Good Day

Today was an awesome day. I went to the doctor today about my knee. I didn't break it , tear any tendons, I have strain the tendon or muscle on the outside of my left knee. I have to wear a knee brace for the next 6 to 8 weeks while it heels I can handle that. He told me to take the pain medication which I will do basically at night so I get a good night rest. It made me happy and as it heels the limp will go away. The brace is like what an athlete would wear that plays sports. The one from the ER went from my hip to my ankle. That was going to be an accident to happen because if I got down I was having a problem getting up. My daughter-inlaw picked the one I am wearing. It works so much better. The doctor  told me that I didn't have any arthritis in my knee and that was good to know.

Another piece of good news was that my dil father that had the stroke was able to transfer from his bed to a wheelchair with physical therapy's help. Even the speech therapist notice some improvement.  A lot has to do with the will power of those who have the problem.
They are going to get my hubby a shoe with an 1 1/2 lift on it to where he will be level. They think that will help him learn to walk again because it will make both legs the same length. We shall see.

I know that I will go see him and spend more time with him. I just have to wear my knee brace and that is not a problem. I went up to see him this afternoon and had supper with him. He was really happy to see me.  His blood sugar was running really high and they couldn't figure out why. Well we had waffles for breakfast with syrup, hot chocolate to drink, and the snack is always ice cream. Milk raises blood sugar. Also when the liver is acting up the blood sugar runs high. This evening he had country fry steak, mash potatoes with gravy, and a triple layer salad with peas, cheese, lettuce and the dressing that they put it together with would raise the blood sugar. Of course, we must not forget the chocolate brownie for dessert.

I got asked if I was scared to stay by myself with a bum knee. I watch how I go up and down steps, plus I know if I move the wrong way even with the brace it will hurt. The doctors have been amazed at how little of medication I take at my age. I think a lot of that is that I am still active and I still work and will as long as my health allows it. Well it is back to work tomorrow so I had better go to bed.

You all have a good rest of the week.

Day At Home

Normally I am working on Friday, but I was a little under the weather. I couldn't stay out of the bathroom. I have spent the majority of the day sleeping. I guess it was what I needed.  I have to keep the knee still elevated and going up and down stairs at work wasn't helping to much. I go the doctor  on Wednesday.
The picture to the right is what they are predicting again for us for the weekend. I  can handle the snow just not the ice.
I was surprised by the pictures that I found on my camera. I turned it over to  my oldest grandson to take pictures so I could take them to his grandfather.
His Aunt Angie and him were wearing their hats on Christmas Eve. Her reindeer antlers blinked with flashing lights and his played jingle bell rock. They were getting in the Christmas mood before they handed out Christmas Presents.  You can see how tall he is and he has almost caught his dad.
He is a very adult 13 year old with all that he has gone through the last couple of weeks.  His other grandfather is back in the hospital with a blood clot as if having a stroke was not bad enough.
This year has absolutely got to get better.  It warmed up enough to melt some more of the snow, but we could get the black ice back again that I don't like.

This picture was a surprise  on my camera. It was my little bag that says My grandsons.  that my oldest two grandsons gave me for Christmas. They are lined up according to age. It  is wonderful to keep all of my little sewing items in such as needles, scissors, seam ripper, tape measures and you know all those little things that you are always hunting for when you are sewing.
I know from looking at my picture I looked like I have really aged lately. I didn't realize how much until I looked at that picture. I know the last three months of 2012 really sucked. I am hoping that things look up at our house for a change.
The next picture is Mr. Sammy Snail pillowcase that I embroidered. I have already listed it along with Mr. Owl in my etsy shop.
When you have to spend time, with a leg elevated you have to have something to do. I have been embroidering on first one project and another. I always have more then one going at a time.  Do you do the same?  I may add a green blanket stitch around the bottom of the pillow case yet. I am having a hard time making up my mind.
I have missed all of you and hope to be able to do more without having to have my leg elevated.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Short Post

A short post tonight to let you know It will be a hit and miss visiting right now. I fell on the ice yesterday as I was going to breakfast at Perkin's. My day didn't go as planned. I was going to see my hubby after breakfast instead I ended up in the ER having x-rays. I didn't break my knee, but I have damaged it. You know how a person will sit with the leg bent back to the side. That was the way my left leg ended up. I had two nice people who helped me up. I was going up the handicap ramp which had black ice on it that I didn't see and I was trying to be so careful.I am to call the doctor tomorrow and go see him in the office as quick as I can get in.  I have to keep it elevated on two pillows with it in a brace and I can't do that very easy at my computer. It wasn't the way I had planned to spend my four days off that is for sure. Hope you all have a wonderful New Year. Be safe.

2013 Around the Corner

Are you ready for 2013? Have you made your New Year's resolution? My four day weekend started at 4:45 P.M. this evening. I didn't have to stop at the store and I was glad. It was snowing when I came home from work. We were to have flurries, so we shall see what the ground looks like in the morning. It was damp and cold. We never did get above 25, but with the  wind chill it was colder yet.
I did my grocery shopping last night so I wouldn't be caught in the crowd. The last time I went when it was storming. It took me over a hour to just get my groceries and get to the car. I just pick a different time when it is not as crowded.
Did you have a nice Christmas? We invaded the nursing home on Christmas Eve. We were all there with hubby excepting for our oldest and the way the weather and all has been I am glad he didn't try to come home. We have talked with him several times. Hubby had an enjoyable supper eating what he liked and seeing his boys. The two younger ones had to help push grandpa back to his room.  When we left the nursing home, we went back to  our daughter's house. I got a little bag to carry my scissors, needles, tape measure, and all the little gadgets that you need for sewing and a nice cup that you can use for hot and cold beverages.
Christmas morning I went to breakfast and Santa bought me breakfast tip and all. It was a pleasant surprise and I almost cried. I didn't expect anything like that. After that I spent the day with hubby, I embroidered and he slept. He would wake up every so often and make sure I was still there and doze back off. I would almost say he had pain medication, but he said he hadn't. They could give it to people without their knowledge because they are just handed a container and tell them there is their meds.
I don't know what my weekend will bring. It depends on the weather. I just know that the alarm clock won't be set and I get to sleep as late as I want.
I thought I would show you my owl that I got finished. If you go out for New Year's Eve, please careful and safe. Stay warm. Hugs and Prayers going out to those in need. May you all have a wonderful weekend.

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you in blog land. The snow arrived this past Thursday with the high winds causing blackouts. I went to work on Friday, but it took a while to get there.  They are predicting more snow, but hopefully it is going to miss us, but some of the areas that may have snow aren't prepared for that kind of weather. The ground is white and the kids have enjoyed sledding and tubing. Snow Creek down by Weston, Missouri has open so you can hit the  slopes close to home if you want to ski, snow boarding, or tubing. They make artfical snow, but the snow helped them too. I don't ski, but I like to watch them on television. I don't know about you, but I do have favorites.
If you are traveling, please be careful. We want to be able to visit you next year. Have you thought about your New Year's Resolution? I know I am rushing it since we haven't even had Christmas yet, but I want the year over with and let a new year begin. I am praying that 2013 will be a better year for all of us. The sun is trying to break through the clouds. We got up in the 40's yesterday, but it is only 18 degrees now with winds coming out of the north.
We talked to our oldest yesterday. His dad was wanting to talk to him. He was working Christmas day. When I talked to him earlier, he said he had it off. He always worked holidays and this will make his day go faster being he didn't come home. I am glad about it with all of the bad weather that is being predicted. We still have icy patches on the streets. I don't think they treated them. I know that they used a road grader to clean my street.
Well I need to get back to my baby quilt that I am embroidering. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Digging Out

Matt has arrived to dig me out after the blizzard that we have had. Major highways shut down because of all the accidents that they have had today. My family has all been accounted for so far today. My daughter-in-law made it to work and she will call when she gets home this evening. She was glad she went down and saw her dad yesterday before this hit.
I got to stay home which didn't bother me at all because I really didn't want to get out there with people who drive like idiots. It was about noon before I saw people going by the house. I knew I could go if I got out of my driveway, but the snow drift had to be moved first that was right behind my car.
It  makes me wish that I had a fireplace that I could curl up in front of and enjoy the warmth, but the house is warm so there is not a problem. I keep it set at one temperature. How many of you remember your house being heated by wood stoves and taking a iron wrapped in newspaper to bed with you to help keep you warm.  I have talked with my hubby twice today so he is o.k. Santa played them a visit at the nursing home this afternoon. He was telling me what he got and sounded happy that is the main thing. It is hard to spend the holidays at the nursing home, but we keep taking every day that we get.
My sister called to tell me that Chelsey arrived around 8:30 weighed in at 5 lbs and 13 ounces, 19 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing fine for being a month early.  I told my sister that I don't have my quilt done yet. I thought I still had time yet to get it done. She said not to worry about it. I will get it finished.
The picture of the little reindeer in the red shirt is my middle grandson taken at his Christmas program that I went to.
I am sure thankful that I got my hubby back to the nursing home before all of this hit. It was pouring down rain when I came home from the store last night. I was hoping maybe that it would just freeze dry, but the snow and wind came. We had winds up to 45 miles a hour and blizzard conditions. We had quite a thunderstorm there for a while with lightening. You could just hear the wind howl.
After not having to go to work, I went back to bed and slept a while longer this morning. I hope you are o.k. where you are. Some of you are in for quite a storm that headed your way. I have a nephew that lives in Des Monies and they had a lot of snow.
You all take care and stay safe.

Merry Christmas

Christmas is quickly approaching and things will definitely be different at our house.
I brought my hubby home from the hospital back to the nursing home last night. The only way to fix the hip dislocation is surgery and he would never make it after receiving 7 units of blood the last time. He will walk again, but with a limp. It will probably be a good 6 weeks to 2 months yet to go before it gets healed. I just wonder what will happen next. I just know the doctor and us were on the same page about the surgery. He would really like to know when it happened, but that will probably remain a mystery.
I am listening to it rain and it is not that far above freezing so I don't know if I will wake up to ice or snow. I didn't go up to see hubby just talked on the phone. I went to the store and got me some groceries so I would have something in the house to eat.
I talked to my oldest this past Saturday evening. I came home and baby sit the oldest two while mommy and daddy went to a Christmas party. I had really a good time with the boys. We ate KFC chicken strips, mash potatoes, gravy and cold slaw with hot biscuits. That was fine with me.
The kids told me they were going to wrap me in bubble wrap. My oldest grandson went up to check on his other grandfather. He found him in the floor. He had a stroke and is paralysis on the left side at the moment. He is in the Va hospital. I am thankful that he was still alive. I don't know how it would have been if he had passed away.
My son asked my daughter-in-law what she wanted for Christmas. She told him she just wanted to do for the kids this year.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Tears

No pictures today, but I have cried much the last two days. For all the little ones that lost their lives because of a senseless act. I don't understand what makes people do this. We have had several shootings of late. Gun control, I don't really think that would stop someone if they were intent on killing people, they would just find another way to do it.
My grandsons aren't that young, but I would hate to lose any of them especially during the holiday season. My mother died December 18th and my father died on Christmas Day. It has been several years, but you still think about it. It is especially hard at Christmas. Each year you heal, how the parents and love ones will heal after the horrible shooting will take a while. I know I found my Christmas still in the boxes a year after my father died.
My hubby is back in the hospital. When they took the x-rays it showed his hip he had replaced is dislocated. We don't know how it happened, but I cried. They say that they can put it back hopefully without surgery. They have to put him to sleep to do it. The worry is  whether he will wake up afterwards with all of his health issues.  I am off to the hospital this morning. I did baby sit my two oldest grandsons last night. My 8 year old set in the chair with me and read a book to me. We looked at the Lego book he got at the library. He told me what he could build and what pieces he had. He would tell me the colors of pieces and then he went and got what he had made using his imagination. He has a very good imagination. His momma says there is lots of little pieces on the floor, but she doesn't say much because she knows that his little brain is working.
Well, I am off to the hospital for the day and will probably stay the night.  Prayers going out for all of those in need. Take care.

Weekend Rain

I drove home from the nursing home in the rain tonight. It was raining hard enough I had to turn on the windshield wipers. We went to see the orthopedic surgeon today and thought that everything was going good to only find out after the x-rays were taken this evening that his right hip is dislocated.  He had just started putting weight on it today and took 4 steps. We go to ER tomorrow and the orthopedic surgeon is on call. They are to notify him of our arrival and I don't know what will happen from there excepting we are back to where he can't put any weight on it again. I have cried this evening, but I had left before he saw the tears come.
I have to get myself back strong with whatever comes. If they admit him to the hospital, I will come home because I am to babysit my oldest two grandsons and I need a change of scenery. I don't want to miss the time I was to get to spend with them, but we will have to wait and see.
Even if he had been able to continue to put weight on hip, we knew we were going to have to take Christmas to him. I watched physical therapy today and he has a long ways to go to build back the strength that he has lost.
Let us say prayers for all of those who lost their lives in the shooting today. It doesn't make sense to me. They were so young to have their lives snatched from them. If you have a child, give them an extra hug tonight.
The picture is of my youngest grandson. They are doing Christmas theme's at school . The theme was Snowmen. This is Mr. Snowman with his corn cob pipe. I  thought he made a cute snowman. The Christmas tree in the background is one of many that his other grandma has up in their home. She decorates every room and some even have two trees. Beautiful.
Oh yes, I won Maggie's fudge giveaway and it arrived today. I have already had two pieces and it is yummy, yummy, yummy, It is one of the things I like during this holiday season.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and say an extra prayer for me.  I will update you when I know more.

Cold Weather

The cold weather has arrived. We haven't had any bad weather yet and I am hoping that we don't for a little while longer.  I had to chuckle to myself tonight, my youngest grandson wanted to know why my laundry was at his house. I told him mommy did it because my dryer is broke. I had been drying some things  on a dryer rack in the bathroom.
I wasn't really ready to start with winter clothes. I was getting spoiled with the warmer weather, but it is December. The Christmas shopping is done and my daughter even helped to wrap it for me. It was really fun having someone to shop with and she did the driving. I just rode and enjoyed every minute of it. I went up and saw my other half tonight. He would be talking and the next minute  he would be sleeping in his wheelchair.  They were going to come and put him to bed when I left.  He is a little discourage because of it being the holidays and he knows he won't be able to go out for Christmas. I told him his grandsons already have it planned how they are going to help him celebrate Christmas. They won't tell me it is a surprise.
I am baby sitting this Saturday Evening with my older two grandsons. We are going to go see hubby at the nursing home, then out for supper, just my two boys and me. I don't know where we will go for supper, but I am sure they will pick some place good.
My oldest made a gift box with his scroll saw and I can't wait to see the finished box. His top looked like a gift with the ribbon design he made. I got to see that part and it was awesome. He was also helping make Christmas ornaments for teachers and some others. One was an old-fashioned sleigh with Santa saying Merry Christmas underneath the sleigh. It was really neat. He is very good in woodworking.
We want to  wish all of you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I will be stopping by as often as I can. Your friendship means the world to me and is helping get through our trying times. Progress is very slow.

Rain

Where was  the rain when we needed it so badly this summer? It rained on me coming home from the nursing home tonight. At least the temperature was still in the 40's so I didn't have to worry about it turning to ice.

I am so glad that it is the weekend.  Did you ever have a day when no matter what you tried to do, nothing was going right?  I am working on the month I was gone from work  and I would love to push it in file 13, but  I won't .  I will get it figured out just may take a little longer then I thought.

I  think hubby was a little down tonight. It is the holidays and hard on him that he is unable to go Christmas shopping, to the Christmas programs, and all.  We will find out if he can begin to put weight on his hip or not this next Friday when we go see the doctor.  The Nursing home will take him in the van and I will ride down with them.  I think we are both looking forward to that visit so we know exactly where we are at with the  healing process. I saw some of the open wounds tonight. They don't look that good in my opinion. I need to try to get a hold of the doctor that is treating him there to find out what the biopsy showed that they did on his leg.

I went last night to see him, then I went to Matt's Christmas program before I came home. I enjoyed watching the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders perform. Their program lasted about 40 minutes which is about as long as they go before they get restless. It didn't take them very long to clear out after the program.

I am trying to do a little me time to keep me going.  Now you know why I keep so busy. It is to give me other things to think about.  Well I need to bring this to a close. I am going Christmas shopping with my daughter and her husband. They are going to help me finish my shopping so that I don't have to worry about it. Take care and Have a wonderful weekend.

DECEMBER

The last month of the year has started. I wonder if it will fly by as fast as the last two have flown. I just hope this month is better then the last two have been at our house. As many of you know my hubby is in a nursing home at the moment getting physical therapy that he needs. He is making progress, but has been a slow process. We are hoping maybe by Christmas that we will be able to take him out for the day, but it will remain to be seen. He still isn't allowed to put pressure on his right hip and leg yet.

I have been asked about my staying very busy with everything that I do. I  keep very busy so that I have other things to think about besides my hubby. I have taken care of him for so long that I feel like part of me is missing even though I know I am unable to do so and that he is in a much better place. He has a new room mate now and they both like each other which makes it really nice for a change.

I delivered a tea towel this morning and I have an order for an owl tea towel for two little 8 year olds. They go to school with my middle grandson. I am going this Thursday night to watch his program after I go see hubby. They have a surprise for the parents and grandparents a very special song. It will be fun to watch regardless. I am looking forward to it.

This past Thursday evening I went to The Taste of Home Cooking School with my daughter and daughter-in-law. We had really a good time and I won one of the many door prizes that they gave away. When we left, they were going to auction off the appliances that had been used for the show.  It was here at our college which made it all the better. We didn't have that far to drive.

I have missed all of you and hope that I can get back to visiting a little more often. It is time I call it a night and hit the sack as the saying goes. Have a great rest of the weekend.

This and That

These last few days have absolutely flew by. You would like for them  to go a little slower. How many of you were brave and went shopping on Black Friday?
Thanksgiving was spent at my son and daughter-in-laws.along with my daughter, son-in-law and my three grandsons. It was really wonderful because the girls did the cooking. I just had to show up. They were about ready to call me because I was later getting there then they thought I would be.
The boys were going to ride horses, but Cleo didn't want to cooperate. She hadn't been rode lately and she didn't want to be rode. They didn't seem to mind that they didn't get to. My oldest did ride her and a couple of times I thought he was going off, but he stayed on her for which I was very thankful for.
Later in the day after hubby had talked to everyone by phone, I went and spent the rest of the day with him. I took some of his daughter's apple pie made from scratch, and some cranberry mini tarts made by his grandson Matt. He has a very poor appetite which is due to all of the medication that he is taking.
On Friday, my daughter-in-law , oldest two grandsons, and I went to Jamesport, Missouri. We did a lot of walking looking at the craft show which was located in different buildings. I didn't see anything that I couldn't live without. I did go to the fabric shop, the bakery, and the grocery store. I found some old-fashioned candy that we had at Christmas time when I was a child. At the bakery, I bought me a cinnamon roll, a little pie, and got a fried pie to try. I, also, did find a small container of strawberry jam that was meant more for one person.  Today I had to go to the pharmacy, that I really didn't want to do. People were so rude. I really don't understand what their problem was.
I thought I would show you a couple of tea towels and pillowcases that I have been working on lately. I did start a baby quilt today while I was visiting my hubby. He would be talking and then just doze off. They told me it was because of medications, but it makes me wonder if I am really getting told right. .
Tomorrow I am on a mission to find a small size bottle of Woolite. I need it to wash a tea towel that I just finished that is sold.  I guess I will try the regular grocery store and see if I have any luck tomorrow. I don't want a big bottle because I just don't have the need for it. Did you all have a good Thanksgiving? Did you eat to much like a lot of us did? I think I walked a lot of mine off, but I did get a care package to bring home of left overs. I just finished them off tonight.  Well it is getting late so I think I will hit the sack or should say go to bed. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in blog land. I have missed you all, but just haven't  had enough hours at the moment. I finished my last craft show this past Sunday for the year. I was embroidering a tea towel while I set there and I sold it before I even had it done. I will be probably delivering it this week.. I just have to keep the hands very busy right now to give me other things to think about other then what is going on with my other half. .
All I have to do for Thanksgiving is just show up at my son and daughter-in-law's house for dinner. The kids feel like mom has enough on her plate at the present time and they are looking after me.  My son called from Louisiana tonight to check on mom. I told him he must have known I wanted to talk with him. He is my sounding board at times when I need another opinion. He has a four day weekend, but he isn't coming home. He says that it cost to much to fly home and he spent to much money while he was home. He was having polish sausage, with cabbage, carrots, turnips, onion, and potatoes cooked in his  crock pot for his Thanksgiving. It is good. He has fixed it a few times when he was staying with us. I don't think he is coming home for Christmas, but we will wait and see on that one.
After eating with the kids, I will go up to the nursing home for a while. My daughter-in-law and I are going either Friday or Saturday to Jamesport. Missouri for the day. She is doing the driving and I am just riding. I don't know if the boys are going with us or staying with their dad. There is a craft show going on there besides doing the stores. I have a few places I want to go such as the grocery store, the fabric shop, and a couple of other places. The grocery store has old fashioned Christmas candy like we had when I was a child. I am going to go to the bakery with her too.  For one thing she is getting her chocolate to make the Christmas candy, you know the peanut clusters for one.
I am looking forward to going. I don't know if I will spend that much money, but it will be something different. My daughter was going, but she needed to take care of some things at home. She wanted to start decorating for Christmas being she was home for an extra day. She drives over a hour one way to work every day so needless to say that doesn't leave much time to do things in the evening when she gets home.
Taste of Home Cooking School is going to be here in our city. We were going, but I don't know about that  right now. You all have a great Thanksgiving. Take care

Upside down

Have  you ever felt like you are turned upside down and don't know which is up or down? I have really missed being able to visit you all here in blog land. You don't really know how much it is part of your life until your routine has been turned upside down. Making decisions for other people's life is hard. You second guess yourself that you are hoping it was the right decision. The minutes seem like hours and drag ever so slow you don't want to watch the clock because that makes it worse because you think the hands are never going to move. The tears roll and you have to pull yourself together to be strong even though on the inside you feel emotionally and mentally drained. Finally getting to sleep in your own bed helps some and you have to trust others to take good care of your love one.
Today was the first day that my hubby actually ate two of his meals in the dining room with the other patients. He pushed himself and tried a little more then he probably should plus spending to long sitting in his wheel chair because he was really hurting when they put him back to bed. It will only be three weeks tomorrow since his surgery. They took the staples out today and I didn't think it looked as good as I have seen it look. The urologist took out his cathecather because of the infection. They have changed some medications again so maybe things will change. We have good days and bad.
I know that I didn't get to visit with my son as much as I would have liked, but he did take care of some things for mom while he was here. I have talked to him since he went back and he seems to know when mom needs to hear his voice.
I will go Saturday, eat lunch with my bubby and spend the rest of the afternoon with him. One of the craft shows I was going to do got cancelled. I have one more this Sunday 10-4, but I still can't see how we are going to fit in the room. They are saying there are 16 vendors. We shall see. I know if I don't like how it goes, I won't do it again. My grandson and I had a lot of fun this past weekend. We sold some. My john Deere green pillowcases went fast. I am working on another set and hope to have them done by this weekend.
Hope everyone is doing well and know that I have missed everyone of you. Take care until the next time

UPDATE FROM OUR HOUSE

Just a short not to bring you up to date at our house. They took hubby to the nursing home on Election Day  from the hospital in a care van. There was no way I could transport him with taking so many people to get him up. Of course, they used this neat machine that took that problem away. It will six to eight weeks recuperating from a hip replacement, injured foot, and they say that he has shingles all on the right side of his body. They didn't turn him enough so he has some bed sores in other areas. I think that it will probably be closer to two months with him being a diabetic before we get to come home.  I was glad to get him out of the hospital, the food and sofa was not the best in the world. I stayed with him 24/7 except when he was in ICU and they said I couldn't.  If I had tried to stay at the hospital, I would have slept close to an elevator in a visitation room. I just have a problem dealing with that so I would make the drive home and go back the next morning.
I have gone back to work and  will go to see him in the evening for about a hour or so. I am looking forward to Saturday because my grandson and I are doing a craft show that we have been looking forward to doing for so long. It will be a good change of scenery for me. Our son from Louisana is home, but will be heading back before long. He has taken care of some things here at the house for me such as putting in light bulbs, etc. He is lamenting he has to shave off his beard because of the job he is going to when he gets back he has to be clean shaven. It is good to have him home even if it is such a short time and has gone so fast. Well I am off to work Hope you  all are having a good week and a good weekend.
