Home from the Hospital

We got home from the hospital this evening and I thought I would give you an update before I call it a day.The upper gi scope showed he had been bleeding in his stomach again. There isn't anything that they can do other then monitor his blood counts. They gave him both 2 units of blood and iron both the first night after I got him there. They got him up to 8.6 according to medicare standards that  is safe. That isn't even the bottom of the normal range. They had to repeat his lower gi scope because they say he wasn't cleaned. I don't really know other then the doctor that performed it didn't really want to do it. Said so right in front of my hubby who was going to be put to sleep. I let our hospitalist know about it and I was not a happy camper. I told him you do not voice those kind of comments in front of your patient who is about to be put to sleep. I think If it had been me I wouldn't have let them do it. We had a successful one today. We have brought a liver doctor on board. I don't know what they are going to try to do. It is a lady doctor and she did tell us that with all of his health issues he wasn't a liver candidate. We shall see. 

I know I will be glad  to have my own bed. Sleeping in a straight back chair with my feet propped up on the edge of his bed wasn't a good way. They finally got me a recliner and then we got moved to a private room.More lab work and doctor visits and I was hoping they would so down. I stay with him 24/7 because I sign for his health. Thanks to all of you who sent prayers. They were greatly appreciated. Hugs to you all, I am headed to bed.

Prayers Please

This note is very short and I would like your prayers. I am admitting hubby to the hospital. His blood count is very low so he is going to get blood to start and from there I don't know. I  don't know how long he will be in the hospital, but maybe we will get some more answers while we are there. Take care Shirley

Got Your Fireworks

The 4th of July is quickly approaching and the fireworks are being shot off in the neighborhood already.They had a big firework display after the ballgame Saturday evening. Everybody has their own ideas as to when they are going to celebrate this year with it falling in the middle of the week. I think ours will be Saturday so no body has to get up and go to work the following day.

Even work schedules are changing from normal because some are wanting a long weekend. 

This weekend we got the much needed rain which cancelled the horse show, but we didn't need the heat that came afterwards. I would much sooner enjoyed the  67 degrees that we had for a little while. Our plans changed for our whole weekend, but it is not the first time nor the last time that will happen.  Today has been extremely hot for June. The heat index was 101 which makes you think more of late July and August weather. We were out for a little while, but tried to stay inside as much as possible. I have been trying to decide what I want to wear to work tomorrow with the ac not working. I  know I won't wear shorts because of working with all guys, you always get some smart remark.

My grandson loves to ride with his dad. The above picture was taken on a ride that they went on by Dan's Action Photo,The bike is well equipped with a nice seat for the passenger to ride on. He is such a character and is ready to go in a minutes notice. He has his own helmet, sun glasses, and mom puts sun screen on him so that he doesn't burn.

We talked to our son in Louisiana wondering how he was doing and if the hurricane weather in the gulf was effective him any. He said it was hot and partly cloudy. They were predicting some rain. He has been stocking up on water and things that he might need if they do get some of the bad weather. Someone asked why he was doing it now. His comment was that if you wait, the shelfs might be bare. A lot of people will put it off until the last minute then complain about what they are wanting. 

My heart and prayers go out to all of them that can be effective by the storm. I wonder about my Florida's Friends. I just hope that they are safe. You never know about riding out storms regardless of the type. I have never been around hurricane's, but tornadoes, floods, ice storms, snow storms, bad thunderstorms with damaging winds, and hail those I have been around

Ready for the Weekend

Have you made your plans for the weekend? Are you going camping, to the lake boating or just lounging around home. Have you started making your plans for the 4th of July? It will be here before we know it. 

There is only a little over a week left in this month. I don't know where it went, but it has flown by that is for sure. 

I have been trying to do some embroidering, but all I have done is sleep in the chair. It  is one that has wings that you can lay your head in the corner and you are gone. I guess it is partially from going in and out of air-conditioning all day long. The body doesn't adjust well to it. 


My little puppy dog in the sewing basket. He is listed in my etsy shop. I put a red blanket stitch around the border. I have found a blanket stitch is not really that hard to do. I found a tutorial that took you step by step. I just wish I had bookmark it so if I wanted to go back. 


I would have liked to been a mouse to see what the judge was talking to him about. I can never really tell if he is listening or not. I just thought it was a cute picture. I have to give the photographer a lot of credit because she does a very good job. 

Have you made plans for the 4th of July? Do you celebrate with a  barbacue and fireworks? Does your community have a firework display?

We will be going to our daughters for our celebration. We are going to do it on Saturday instead of the actual 4th because we all have to work  the next day. My sil is working the 4th of July. They get the 5th off. They work a 4 day work week anyway so they will have a four day weekend. They usually have some fireworks and of course the little ones have their smoke bombs with all of the different colors of smoke. 

We go down to the city for a doctor appointment of Tuesday to find out if they are going to give him an iron infusion. I would like to get it before the holiday if he has to have it. I just know to me his color is getting whiter.  We will find out.

Help

I need your help. I need someone to tell me how to get my music back. They gave me a place to go to, but what am I suppose to do after I get there is the question. I have never added any music, so I am a dummy in that respect. I miss having it playing while I am working on the computer. Some things I have learned by trial and error, but at times I am not that brave. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have been a little tardy in blogging this past week and even reading. I have been busy taking care of my other half and working. I sit down in the chair and fall asleep. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. 
We had to take a picture of Baby Sister so that I could make Matt a new t-shirt with Sister on it for him to wear at the horse shows. He thought grandma needed a picture to look at while I am working on it. 

 He showed her in the halter class here a couple of weeks ago. They had 21 horses in the event so there wasn't a lot of hope for him and the smallest horse in the group, but he had fun and that is all that is important. He was very busy that weekend. For a while he was going from his pony to Cleo. It was a good thing that they have two different saddles for him to use. He got tired even if he didn't want to admit. 
He has a red shirt similar to his big brother. This past weekend he didn't get to show either Saturday or Sunday because it was 4 H or FFA
members only. The next picture is of big brother and you can tell that he is very serious when he shows. He can smile, but you don't see it to often because of the concentration.

 The photographer that took his picture, MA Donaldson, said she was going to catch him yet with a smile on his face. The boys have had a pretty good show season so far. People ask where they found the horses that they show. They were just lucky with some other peoples help. I still can see Matt bouncing on Cleo's back and she just stood there.

The judge was talking with Matt on Cleo. She talked with a lot of the kids about different things.  
The show that this picture was taken in there was only 402 entries. If you placed you were lucky.  Jake made the cut in one class of 21 to be one of the top six, he didn't place, but he was the youngest one out there. It was in a senior event so you can imagine the ages.

 People thought Matt was mad when he was sitting on the barrel, he wasn't he was just tired . I was just glad to see him sitting still for a change, because normally he is full speed ahead. 
This past weekend he didn't get to show, but brother had a good two days showing. He had 4 first and 2 seconds on Saturday  showing Cleo. The placements paid money so he will be getting a check. 
On Sunday, he showed Fergie and it was an awesome day because he won a belt buckle for high point in his age group.  You can see him being presented the belt buckle and what it looks like up close. He was so excited he couldn't tell me what placements he got, but the points were there for the buckle. I was hoping for him. 
We didn't get to go because it was to hot and neither arena had any shade. We will go this weekend because they have shade and I can park the car where he can watch and I can run it if I need to.
I went to a baby shower for my great niece. She has a medical degree and is doing her residency in Minneapolis.  She has decide to go into family medicine for which I am glad because we need more family doctors. I had a good time and got to see family that I hadn't seen for awhile. We started outside and had to move it inside because of the weather, but we didn't really get anything. I hope you all have a good week.

Wishing

 Have you ever found yourself wishing that you could do whatever you wanted instead of having to do what is expected of you? 
The weekend was much to short, but enjoyable. We celebrated Jake's 13th birthday on Saturday late afternoon and evening. Of course, Ethan had to ride before he could go home. Jake went and got Cleo and led him around the yard. He thought he was big stuff. He had to bring his boots and jeans. He always want to ride.
We had beefburgers, pasta salad, chips and homemade salsa, broccoli salad,veggie tray, mac and cheese, triple berry cobbler made in the dutch oven.

That was the menu from the birthday boy. Of course, you had to have ice cream. Oh I forgot Ethan helped mommy make cookies for us to have too. 

Every time he would go by us he would wave at us. He was probably asleep before they reach the corner because of being so tired. They played really hard, but had a great time. Jake was waiting for his turn at the gate, Mommy is holding Cleo with Matt in the blue helmet. The photographer M A Donaldson does a wonderful job taking pictures of the kids. You never know what she is going to take and you can be surprised

I thought I would show you one of the latest things that I have done. I have one in the works in John Deere Colors. This one is in my etsy shop. It is a single pillow case. My boys liked it, but mommy would like it on a different color pillowcase. I got to see what I can find so many now days already has a design on them.

 I don't usually post a picture of me, but Matt was taking pictures and he took this one of me. I didn't realize how gray my hair was getting, but I think I will just leave it that way. If I color it, which is expensive and you have to have it done every little bit. I don't have the time nor patience.

 Would you believe he is thirteen? I remember the day he was born. I spent a lot of time with his mommy when she was in labor. I use to spend time rocking and reading to him. He is modeling his new belt buckle for everybody.

He was so proud of his belt buckle with a long horn steer on it. His mom and dad got him a pair of spurs with fancy work on them.

I will miss seeing them ride this coming Saturday. I am going to a baby shower for my great niece. She is officially graduated and now has the MD behind her name. She is starting her residency which will be three years. I haven't seen them since her sister's wedding. Will enjoy visiting with family.

Have you ever wondered what yoga on horseback looks like. My youngest grandson was caught stretching while he was sitting in the saddle. I asked him if he was tired, he said no he just needed to stretch.

I don't see how they can ride the number of hours that they do at times.

Hot, I know it isn't really summer, but it sure feels like it and suppose to be worse tomorrow. I just wish that it would rain. They say the crops really need it. I know you see farmers baling pastures besides just the hay fields. Last year the floods and this year they are thinking it will be the driest ever. 

Are you ready for the weekend? If we do everything, that is planned it will be busy. We have our grandsons birthday party on Saturday. They are showing their horses on Sunday, but whether we go or not will depend on the weather. I don't want to make us sick because we set in the heat to long. We went to the doctor last Friday, no broken bones just have osteoporosis . They can't really do anything about it. Bengay seems to help a little, but he says it sure does stink. I agree.

He got to go on a motorcycle ride with his dad today and you can tell by the way he was sitting behind dad he was enjoying every bit of it. You have to be careful when you talk about motorcycles, because he is right there ready to go. It was a beautiful day with a breeze, which felt cool even though it got a little warm this afternoon. I think I am more wind burned then sun. I know it blew hard enough that we had quite a few kids losing their hats. Enough that they told them that they could show without them.

We spent the majority of the day watching the boys ride and even dad got into the act. They had big classes and a lot of horses even from out of state. The one today was a different circuit, but hosted at our grounds. 

Little brother didn't get to do as many events and dad bribed him to get him to consent to go home with Famous Dave's for supper after they took the horses home and took showers. He was fine with that. He wanted to do games. Whether he wins a race or not that is what he likes to do.

I even got their dad to ride today so his dad could see him. He placed 4th. Matt got a third and second. Jake 2 first and a third which was a good day. Jake is turning 13 in a week and he was giving me hints for what he would like for his birthday. I just tell them to give grandma several ideas as to what they would like to have. It is easier that way. He has already put in his order for his birthday cake. It will be a three berry cobbler made in moms dutch oven. 

Hubby went and watch today. They let us park the car where he could watch from there or his wheel chair. He did both and  they are really nice to us in that respect. He was tired when we came home that much I know for certain. 

We will be birthday shopping and baby shopping this week. I am going to have a new great nephew and I have a baby shower to go to here in a couple of weeks. We will be busy. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am. Have a wonderful Sunday. 

Flowers

The flowers are blooming so funny this year. My daughter's mums are budding out and trying to bloom. I have never seen anything like this year. It has been so different and goes from one extreme to the other with the temperatures. 

It looks like it is going to rain and my neighbor is sitting up for a yard sale. They have to tried to tarp it, but if it does what they say it isn't going to work. It has been a hectic couple of days at work and won't get better with everything that needs to be done. If they would just leave me alone, I would get much more accomplished. Running up and down the steps can be exhausting especially when it is in and out of air-conditioning. I know it is good exercising.

We have a doctor appointment on Friday to see if his ankle is broke again. It didn't swell, but just throbs. Friday was the earliest I could get him in unless we went to the ER. I have been alternating between heat and cold and having him elevate it. If it isn't one thing, it is another. I keep getting told to have patience, but I think they are wearing thin at times.

You really wonder what makes some people think money grows on trees. Our city raised our sewer tax 11%. They might as well put the people on fix incomes in the street that are trying to stay in their homes. They raised our real estate taxes, personal property taxes,school taxes, and now this plus the utilities want a raise. We don't get a raise. I wonder if someone would pay my bills if I didn't have enough money. The one in front of me had food stamps at the grocery store. Let's just say some of the things being purchased were not suppose to be allowed. They went out and got in a new car. They were supposed to be laid off at the present time.You reckon if I would become unemployed I could get food stamps and all the medical bills paid by for some one else. It just is irritating, when you need help you can't get it, but some of the others have no problem at all. That is enough about that.

Weekend to Short

Why is it when you have a few days off, they just fly by really fast? You wonder where they went because you didn't accomplish everything that you wanted to do. I didn't set the alarm so I did sleep late. The latest was this morning and it was going for 9 o'clock.

After hot weather all three days, we are going to have a cool down. We are suppose to get down in the 50's at night. Only in the 80's during the days.

Have you ever driven down the road to see the big boats coming at you and you have to look down to see what is pulling it? We have seen several boats today that made the trucks look like midgets that were pulling them. I don't think I would have wanted to be out on the water. People don't realize they need to make sure their vehicles are meant to pull them. 

I was glad that we didn't travel that far this weekend. He must have not felt the best because he gave me no argument about staying home when I told him I would sooner stay home and work on my embroidery. He even consented to eating at home which is very unusual. 

We talked to our son in Louisiana tonight. His A\c is not working right in his apartment. Nobody was working today so he will have to tell them about it tomorrow. He is doing o.k., but having a doctor who is causing a problem. The doctor won't sign his physical papers that he is o.k. for the job, but then he won't sign the papers where he could draw more disability. The company he is working for already know that he can do the work. You just have people like that unfortunately.

Enjoyable Sunday

 I have spent today after getting home from breakfast and hubby's car ride doing whatever I have wanted to do. It is rather nice to be home for a change. In my first picture, I want you to meet M and M. Matt and Morgan. They are such cuties and you never know what you are going to get told.They are the pair that I told you about in an earlier post. They are so much alike. He was cleaning his room with momma's help today so that he could put up his display board of his ribbons. This is where he got first and she got second. Her horse is a little smaller then Cleo, but not much.

 The second picture is so much better then the one that I took of Jake and Fergie. They make a good combination. He and his partner won the ribbon race. I have seen pictures, but I don't have them yet. Proud dad only took over 200 pictures last week. The last picture shows Matt and how he is suppose to do his hand when he is riding. They both enjoy doing it and I enjoy watching. Matt and Jake both did what they call trail ride where they have to cross like a bridge, back through barrels, and other things.

I have been working on my tea for two table topper. I have worked on first one thing then another. I am not use to being home. If not at work, then I am usually taking hubby for a drive. I still haven't figured out why he agreed so easily for us to stay home. Of course over 90 degree weather might possible have something to do with it. 

With the way the weather turned out, I am so glad we didn't go to Branson. I toyed with the idea, but decided it would be constant lifting the wheelchair in and out of the car. Then I wanted to watch the boys, but that was cancelled. I told him we needed to wait until the fall of the year. Maybe we will have more answers and I will feel more at ease with traveling.

Peaceful

The house is peaceful and quiet this evening with hubby already asleep. He was still wanting to be on the go, but I said no. It was up to 90 degrees today and very muggy. I would just as soon stay inside in the air-conditioning.
It was a busy Saturday with errands to run,getting the car service, and his wheel chair fixed. I lost a nut off of it that holds the wheel on. I don't have a clue as to when or where it happened. I just know that the wheel fell off and I had help getting him to the car which I was very thankful for. I was glad that it happened before he was in it or I could have tipped him over and there would have been nothing that I could do about it.
The boys horse show was cancelled today because of all the rain that we got from the storm that went through. It didn't last to long, but you sure couldn't see where you were going. We were stationary and just watching out the window. Sometimes that is not the best thing to do. Our wind was only suppose to be 45 miles an hour, but not that far away from us it was clocked higher and they had hail.
I had the TV all to myself, but there wasn't really that much on it, so I worked some more on my embroidering. I have a boys birthday in a little over two weeks that I need to do something about. I think I will just ask him to give grandma some ideas as to what he would like. He knows how expensive he can tell grandma.
I had some pictures I wanted to show you, but it will have to be a later post because I couldn't find them. I wanted to introduce you to M and M. Matt and Morgan. Matt you know is my grandson, Morgan is a little girl he shares riding lessons with. She told her mama  she needed a big horse like Matt's because hers is smaller. They are so alike it is funny, basically the difference is one is a boy and the other a girl. Both moms say if they were their first born, there wouldn't have been another child. They are constantly moving and don't really sit still until they fall asleep.
Hope you are having a good weekend. I am enjoying being able to do some of the things that I want to do besides going to work. It is rather nice not having the ringing of the phone to be answered.

Ready for Three Days Off

 I am ready to have three days off. I have to get through tomorrow and Friday then it is three days of no alarm clocks to sound off. I can sleep late not really because my other half doesn't let me do it that much unless I tell him I am going to sleep late. 
I don't  know for sure what the weekend will bring a lot has to do without how hot it is. 
Today we were almost to 90 with winds gusting between 40-45 miles per hour. I know I thought I was going to go flying as strong as the wind was. We could sure use some rain in the worse way because we are so dry. 
School is out and summer school has begun. My youngest two are going but it is basically to give them something to do. They are bored really easily. 
My dil's dad watches the boys some, but it is to much for him to watch both boys all day. Especially with all of the energy that Matt has. I just wish at times I had a pinch of the energy. He goes all out until he crashes and falls asleep. 
There is a horse show this Saturday, but it depends on the weather what we do. They don't have any shade so you would be sitting in the sun and I don't know about that especially if hubby goes with me.It didn't look like it would be that wheel chair friendly.  First I need to get my car service and then we will play it by ear. 
I know sometime during the weekend we will go to the cemeteries. All of the flowers that we normally use are gone because of blooming so early. I will see probably about getting some artificial ones.
Last year we went to Branson over Memorial weekend, but if we go this year it will be in the fall of the year. Just can't travel that far at the moment with never knowing when things are going to go south  and we need the hospital or doctors. I have spent trips in the motel trying to get him well enough to travel home and it is not my favorite thing to do.

Today didn't start off the best, but it got better. Have you ever put a cell phone through the washing machine? I did and that was just one of the things that went wrong before I went to watch the boys ride today. 

Hubby was having an issue not being able to stay out of the bathroom so he sent me to go watch the boys ride. He said that he would be o.k. which he was, but that still didn't mean that I didn't worry about him while I was gone. It was still going on when I came home. 

I got Matt's shirt done last night and took it to him today. He put it on soon after I got there and that is what he showed in all day. 

Today was called a fun day and they got to wear the short sleeves and could wear t-shirts. It was just an opportunity to show their horses and have a good time before the season really gets going. 

I hope you don't get tired of seeing them, but grandma is so proud of the boys. Of course Proud Parents couldn't have been happier with the boys. 

Matt didn't show his pony Baby Sis. She wasn't in a cooperative mood for some reason and they didn't want him getting hurt. She has bucked him off in the past. He was lucky the last time and no broken bones. 

My oldest grandson got to help present the colors at the start of the day. They were going to have all of the competitors ride carrying flags, but they had to many green horses and they were afraid someone one might get hurt. 

We had one almost get thrown, and then one's horse laid down and try to roll over on the rider. Always some excitement. 

The boys were having a good day. I am glad they didn't compete against one and another because if little brother beat big brother, you would have never heard the end of that. 

You didn't notice the temperature because you had some clouds and the wind blew all day and times it blew hard.  We had a shower before it started and I thought hear we go again because they cancelled it last week. 

I showed grandpa the pictures after I got home and he was really happy for both of the boys. 

I am sorry for the long post, but grandma's love showing the accomplishments.

Ready for a day off

 I am ready for the weekend to get started. It is beginning to cool down this evening, but not that much. We got up the low 90's today and I hope it is not that way tomorrow or it will be miserable at the horse show.  They have decided to have like a mini flea market at the last minute. I guess I will take some of my tea towels so that they can see what I do.
We went this evening and got grandpa a new straw hat. I sorta of mutilated his other hat. I had laid it downstairs and I guess I put something heavy on top of it when I cleaned out the car. It was smashed.
The new one is more ventilated so it should be cooler. I thought I would show you some more pictures of my grandsons. Matt had control of the television and he couldn't care less that we were taking a picture of his new saddle then because he was getting to watch his cartoons.
When he stays with daddy, he has to watch what dad watches. Dad doesn't let him watch his cartoons.

He was mommy's helper last night and they went and picked strawberries. The price was right. They were free. One of the guys that she works with told her that she was more then welcome to come and pick as many as she wanted. Needless to say she didn't tell him no. The one that she works with deep fries chicken that is out of this world. The way that he seasons it and it is so moist. I thought I would show you my grandson in his new red shirt with his new hat. Part of the rules in Western Pleasure is that you have to wear long sleeves even if it is hot. He is going to be 13 in just about a month. It doesn't seem like that he should be that old. It is making me feel older.  My grandson was having fun showing grandma what he could do. It will be interesting to watch tomorrow because it is the first time he has shown Fergie since they got her. She seems to be really gentle when she is around people. Well I need to get some things ready for tomorrow. I did get my other grandsons t-shirt finished and it is in the washing machine and ready to go into the dryer.
