I"m Not Lost

I am really not lost, I just haven't been able to visit you all like I really want to with craft shows, visiting the nursing home, my grandson getting his first year pin in the FFA ceremony, just to name a few of the things I have been doing. Oh! I forgot my one day a week job.
Do you have your plans made for Thanksgiving? They are having Thanksgiving at the nursing home for the patients and family this coming Saturday the 23rd. It is their way of saying thank you. Thanksgiving I will spend with the kids that live here then take food up to hubby  later in the day. My grandson has already order cranberry tarts, both he and his grandpa like those.
I didn't go to the nursing home today with working. He called complaining that his legs were really bothering him. I asked him if he had told them about them hurting. No, he hadn't. I didn't have much sympathy tonight. I told him when he has a problem, he has to tell them. He said that he would.  I have been told that I need to let him be more independent, but I think he really was trying to make me feel bad because I didn't go. It is not fun being a caregiver even though you try really hard. It doesn't help when you know that you can no longer take care of them like you use.
I had a good fairy over the weekend. Someone paid for my breakfast and I don't have a clue as to who. I would have liked to have been able to say thank you.
We celebrated two birthdays over the weekend. Both were a little late because it was the first available evening that we all had an evening free. Starting in January, my middle grandson will be playing basketball. He has practice right now on Tuesday evenings.
My heart and prayers go out to those that were affected by all of the storms. Especially to those who lost love ones and their homes. We had some in the area, but nothing like what hit in Illinois, Indiana, and other states. We did have the winds, thunder, lightening, and heavy rain. They still had storm warnings out when I called it a day.
I hope you all are having a good week. Take care

FALL PICTURES

We were on our way to meet my daughter for lunch on our girl's Day out. I was taking pictures out the window as we were driving along when I saw something that caught my eye.

It was such a pretty day and the color was so pretty, but with the cold and winds we have had they don't look like this instead they have lost the majority of their leaves.
I enjoyed the day because I didn't have to drive. I love every occasion that I can let someone else do the driving for me. It was another year for a lot of bright fall colors in our area. At times when the sun is setting, it makes a beautiful sun set.

You get to see me with my girls. We enjoyed our lunch and running around. Of course, the boys wanted to know when they were going to be home. They were babysitting the boys. It doesn't hurt them every now and then to take care of them and give mom a break.

We had just finished up lunch and was getting ready to go when my daughter in bright yellow asked the waitress to take a picture of the three of us. I could tell they walked a lot more then I had because my legs were tired when I got home. It was enjoyable that was the main thing.

The house in the back ground is not my house. I just liked the pretty red tree in their front yard. I took some pictures of some old mansions here in town, but they didn't turn out. If you like history, our city has a lot to offer. The old homes are beautiful and makes you want to see the inside.

My grandson had to show off his FFA jacket and how they had to look for the functions that they attend. His first contest he attended he was 11th out of 147 which I didn't think was bad. He is going to be taking judging classes to learn to be a judge and maybe compete at that. He is just getting started so we shall see.

We had fun our day out. He is grandma's helper. We always have fun when we are together. He keeps reminding me how much longer it will be before he can drive. It will help his mom and me. He thinks he should be my chauffeur.

I hope you are having a wonderful week staying warm if you have the cold weather and safe if you have the bad weather. Take care.

VETERAN'S DAY

Happy Veteran's Day to all those, who have served for our freedom from a military family. I have had family in every generation that has served at one time or another.  My brothers and my oldest son plus I have nephews in the military at the present time and pray for them each day along with every one else on my prayer list.

We had a small parade to honor them, but it was cold at the time with the wind blowing out of the north. When I left the house to go to my one day a week job, it was 52 degrees. It never reached our high instead it went the opposite way. The temperature is continuing to drop. There has been a report of snow flurries not that far away from us.
Also, I did not take the picture above, it is just one that I found on line that I liked.

Have you ever had a person tell you that you had to remove a comment left on your blog or they were going to report you? Something about they were using it to go in a back way to their website. I have no idea what they are talking about. The comment was left there over a year ago and they are just now requesting it. I don't have a clue how to delete somebody's comment because truthfully I never thought anything about it. Does this actually happen or is someone trying to pull a scam?

The craft show over the weekend went well and I have a new challenge. They want one of my pillow case designs turned into a picture to hang on a wall. I really don't know what material  to use because I don't want to do counted, but want to be able to trace the design on using my light box.  Do any of you have any suggestions as to the type of material I should use.  I don't have to have it done by Christmas, but I would like to have it done by then. I have one more craft show left at the end of the month. My grandson and I had a really good time.

I got my new glasses ordered Friday when I was at the eye doctor. I get to stop the steroids eye drops that I had to put in once a day on this coming Friday. They did put a little correction in one eye so they would be same. It will be wearing bifocals, but I don't care because I have worn glasses since I was a Freshman in high school. I definitely won't be hunting them.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Sunshine where are you?

Sunshine, where are you today? Don't you know we want to see you instead of the rain and cool temperatures. We like it when it is in the 70's and wish it would stay that way, but we know it won't.The trees are mine that divide our two acres. The color was so pretty and I can just look out my back door.

The Taste of Home cooking show was fun. They held it in conjunction with the home show. The only part of the home show that was drawing a crowd was the bird show. Her owl was beautiful colored. She takes her shows to schools and other places to teach the children about the birds.

Taste of Home show made a chili that looked yummy and it was. My daughter in law made it and had me to come for supper. We had hot corn bread to go with it. She,also, made some fruit muffins. She sent home what was left of the chili  and it was my lunch yesterday. I also, had one of the fruit muffins warmed up with coffee for my breakfast. They were yummy.

The fireplace makes me wish I had one and with the weather outside I would take my embroidery and curl up in front of it. Although I might not get much done because if I get toasty as my grandsons say I would probably take a nap.

My retirement isn't lasting long. I am starting a part-time job on Monday. It is only one day a week, but I will be helping a young lady who has ms. She does accounting and some days it flairs up. I will help her however I can, I don't want a full-time job, but this one will let me set my own hours of how I want to do it. They understand the situation with my hubby and it sounds like it might be a win -win situation. It will give me a little extra spending money and helps her. I can understand what she is going through.

I think everything I have gone through with my hubby has made me more understanding of other people. You always see someone worse then your problems.

We had another bad wreck on I-29 again last night involving 2 semi's and 4 cars. Serious injuries, but I haven't heard if anybody was killed or not. We had a wreck last week where the driver of the semi was killed. They just drive like idiots and tail gate. They don't believe in the speed limit. I called my daughter to make sure she had made it home o.k. It is a route she takes every day to and from work. I just say an extra prayer that she makes it home safely every day.

People are already putting up their Christmas lights and trees this year. They start it earlier and earlier every year. When we did decorated it wasn't until after Thanksgiving. I am not ready to go shopping, but I do have a list of what the boys would like.

I got to see my oldest grandson all dressed up in his FFA jacket, white shirt, tie, and dress pants. He does make a very handsome young man. He hadn't shown his mom his grade card, but he did after he showed it to me. His grades were very good. The FFA is selling fruit baskets. I am getting a small one. I am looking forward to Saturday. It is the craft show I do with my grandson every year. I don't know with him in high school how much longer he will do that.

You all have a wonderful day. Take care.

FROM MY HOUSE TO YOURS

I have been a little busy lately with getting ready for another craft show. I went to one last Saturday. The two pictures were part of my tea towels, pillowcases, bibs, just to name a few. I sold a little, but not like the show before.

My grandson with his birthday Lego set. It was over 700 pieces and he never stopped until it was built. He built it in one evening after they got home. He has such an imagination and you never know what is going to be built next.

I have another craft show in a couple of weeks, but this Saturday, my daughter, daughter-in-law and I are going to the Taste of Home Cooking Show here at our civic arena. It will be a lot of fun. The last one showed us how to make upside down apple pie. They made one of those and it was good. They both like to cook.

Today was a rainy, stormy, day to be on the road, but I had to get my mammogram done, plus take care of some other things. It is the pits when you have a bank account compromised and you have to close the account and then change all of your information again. At least they didn't get any money. I have a very good idea of who it is, but proving it is another problem. They will get caught one of these days. I am a firm believer in that.

I did meet with the doctor yesterday and discuss some things with her about my hubby.  His ammonia level is still not where it should be. They thought his stomach problem was because of what he was eating and just gaining weight. No, it is not., but he couldn't get into his size 38 waist pants. I want things checked out. His mother had stomach cancer and I just want to know if it because of the liver problem or what.  I know in the past they have drained fluids off his stomach and was told they may have to do that every so often.
They were suppose to do an ultrasound on my hubby today, but for some reason it did not get done. I will have to check on that tomorrow when I go up. I was to exhausted when I got home. Part of the time you were driving where you could hardly see the road. It was very nerve racking and it is a state law you drive with your lights on in this kind of weather, but you would be surprised how many don't. They drive like idiots and it is no wonder there are wrecks.

Who would believe our Kansas City Chiefs are 8-0 after last year? It is amazing that is for sure. We keep track of my hubby's cousin's college team who is 8-0, and where I went to college who is also 8-0.

Well it is getting late, I will try to catch up with you all. Take care and Happy Halloween.

The Weekend

Isn't it a beautiful picture? No I did not take it, but I can see going for a walk across the bridge on a beautiful fall afternoon.  Can't you? I just wish my pictures looked like that.

The weekend was so busy, but we couldn't have asked for a better day. Pictures will be coming when I get them from the kids. They took pictures all afternoon and the ceremony was even video. Our daughter wasn't use to her ipad, but I can't wait to see it.

Hubby found out that his clothes does not fit at the present time. We tried his biggest pair of dress pants, but they just would not work. I didn't think that they were going to. I think he is retaining fluid on his stomach, but I haven't got anyone else to answer my questions about that.

One of the cute things that happened, when father was going to bless us with holy water, the two youngest grandsons came up standing on each side and blew bubbles over our head. It worked and was a precious moment that we will remember for along time.  I have a bouquet of fall flowers and a bouquet of white roses that I carried as I walked down the isle to my hubby. Father said we could kiss all during the ceremony that would keep people awake. He did a wonderful job.

Then on Sunday before going to see hubby, I went to a spaghetti dinner that my youngest grandson's boy scout troop was having. It was enjoyable and I got to meet some of their friends.

The eyes are doing good and I will get prescription reading glasses in three weeks when I go down for a follow-up.  I am going to go by myself. I haven't driven twice after dark and had no problems so I will try again.

Have a wonderful week. Take care

50 Years

50 years is a milestone that if you had told us we would reach I would have told you that it would take a miracle with the roller coaster ride the last few years have been with the ups and downs. We truly believe that god has been there every step of the way for us. To give us the magical steps to succeed, when we really didn't think it was possible.
We have learned to appreciate every day we have been given because you definitely don't know what tomorrow will bring. Saturday is the day that we were married on a beautiful fall day frost that morning, but warmed up enough to be able to sit outside at the reception which was held at his parents house.

We are the only ones in our group that are still married. My sister, who was my maid of honor's husband has passed away and my bridesmaid who married our groomsman got divorced, he has since passed away. Our best man lives on the west coast. We took our vows very seriously and are renewing them. They will just bless my rings because they have not came off my hand other then to have them cleaned or to check the mountings. They have a very sentimental meaning.

We love traveling this time of the year because of the fall color. Alot can change in 50 years the hair becomes grayer, but I refuse to pay the money to change the color.

I hope to have pictures to post after tomorrow which will really be a big day for us. The kids and grand kids are having a reception and we are renewing our vows afterwards during mass.

Good news on my eye surgery, at the present time I have 20/20 vision. I will go back in three weeks to check the vision and be fitted with reading glasses. It is amazing what you can see that you didn't see before. It is a kid in the candy shop. I am sorry for a long post, but I just thought I would touch base. Thank you for all of your prayers, e-mails, and good wishes. Have a wonderful weekend.

THE Big Day

The weather has been beautiful today, but if the weatherman is right we will be driving in the rain when I go Monday for my eye surgery. The nurse asked when she called with my instructions if I was a little anxious. I guess you could say I get a little more so the closer that it gets, but knowing that it will make a big difference in my vision makes it all worthwhile.

I went to the Pumpkin Fest today before I went to the nursing home. I was on a mission to get peach and apple cobbler that they made in the dutch oven. If I could have figured out how to get the ice cream there with out melting, we would have it on top. It was yummy without the ice cream. I gave dad his choice of which one he wanted. He chose the peach so I had the apple. It was crowded with a lot of little ones running around and I did look at some of the crafts.

I will probably stop by in the morning before I go to the nursing home. It will be the last day for a couple of days until I can drive again. We will talk on the phone which we do each night before we go to bed. I always hate when I just can't go out and go wherever I want to go. My grandson is ready to take care of grandma. I get his lower bunk bed again.

The plans for our 50th wedding anniversary is mushrooming for next Saturday the 19th.  Not only will the kids have a reception for us at the nursing home, but we are going to renew our Wedding vows. There is 5 at mass today with their heads together making plans of how that is going to happen. I have a wedding planner and how much fun it will be. Father is looking forward to doing the mass for us on our special day.  They told us to trust them not to worry it would be a wonderful day. They have helped push him in the wheelchair when I had my last eye surgery. They make you feel very much a part of it.

The temperature is dropping this evening. It is already down to 49 degrees. You definitely know it is the fall of the year and the days are flying by.

Have a wonderful weekend. Take care.

This and That

The sun was going down and I thought it was so pretty. I am not usually outside when this happens very often. The month of October is almost half gone. I don't know where it is going, but it is sure going fast. The weather reminds us that it is truly fall with the cool temperatures in the morning and warmer temperatures in the afternoon.

It will probably rain this weekend because of all of the activities going on. We have the pumpkin fest where the club is selling home-made cobbler made in their dutch
oven over their open fires. I know every show that we had where they did it they always sold out. I don't know if they will have the ice cream or not. They light the wall of pumpkins tomorrow night which is always impressive with all of the different face cravings. It is homecoming for our college and my grandson's school. The high school parade will be Friday with the college parade on Saturday.

Momma doesn't usually ride, but this is one day she got to. You can tell how cool it was, but by afternoon it warmed up a little .

One of my Christmas towels found a new home. It was fun to do and the hands are keeping busy. My eye surgery is Monday and I can't wait until it happens. I hope I have as good as vision as my left eye.

I went out and met the school bus this week one day for my son. He is layed off at the moment because of the government shut down. My middle grandson doesn't usually get to ride the bus home, but has been while dad was home. They won't leave them unless they see someone is there to meet them. Big brother doesn't get home until later. So grandma helped out. He is getting to eat as much as brother. He was hungry when he got home. He had him some brisket that dad smoked, a piece of marble cake, and I don't know what else. He was happy because he had control of the remote because no one else was home. If it had been just a little longer, I thought he was going to go to sleep.

My oldest grandson and I are going to do our craft show together in November. We always have fun. He said he would have to get busy and make some new things.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Got A Date

Hooray!Hooray! My right eye surgery is scheduled for the 14th of this month. I could have had it a little sooner, but needed to work around my daughters work schedule. I am hoping it does as well as my left which I have 20/30 vision. After I get this done, I will have to take a new drivers test to get the restriction off my license. I just have to do the vision part.

Tonight was my youngest grandson's music concert at the mall. It was compose of the 2nd and 3rd graders with some of the third graders having a speaking part and they did really well. It was a Dr. Seuss theme and you could tell which they like the best plus the type of music.
I did not take my fall picture. It caught my eye with the sun setting.

Meet my niece's baby that came early. He is growing and mommy's blood pressure came down to where she got to go back to work. He is such a cutey and is growing. If she had gone full term, he would have been a big baby. I am hoping the blood pressure stays under control.

This month has very special meaning for us besides my eye surgery. The biggest thing will be our 50th wedding anniversary. More about that when the time gets closer. We have birthday's, our daughter's wedding anniversary, and getting everything in order for winter.

I pray for the families being affected by the mess in the Washington. There is already an effect being felt for the new Obama Care. My hubby's roommate fell and broke his hip. He has been waiting for two weeks to be taken to the hospital. The excuse today was the ambulance got lost. Have you ever heard of anything so crazy? Because of the type of insurance he has they have to use a certain transportation company.

Besides riding his horse, they took his picture. I really liked it, but then I am partial.

I have been lucky to win two drawings. I will be posting pictures of those later.

We had rain today and then it got in the 80's. How much rain depended on where you were located. I just didn't really care about the thunder and lightening especially when it sounded close to the house.  I am not ready for the 30's and 40's that we are suppose to get down to this weekend. I just don't want to see snow yet, but I have seen it this early in the year.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend

October is Here

First, no I did not take the picture of fall colors. It just makes me wish that I was going somewhere that this would be the scenery that I would be seeing as I drove through the countryside. I miss the drives that we use to take with no particular place in mind. Just get in the car and go. We were married in the fall of the year which is like the weather we are having right now. It is cool in the morning and warms up in the afternoon. We set outside at the nursing home for a while so we could talk without being overheard. They finally came to help him stand for a little while. He spent two days in bed last week. They first thought it was the flu, but they did all kinds of blood work. I still haven't been able to find out everything I would like to know about that.
My oldest grandson got to be the Pony Express rider for the Pony Express 5K-10K Run that was held last Saturday. He got to start the race which I was so proud of him. Fergie, his horse behaved really well considering all of the runners that they had. He borrowed some things so that he would look like the right era.
My craft show went really well. It was rainy and cool, but I had a good day. I sold some, got a custom order, and the possibility of another show in an area that I haven't gone before. I might like it because it is on a week day instead of on the weekends. My custom order is done that I talked about previously on their way to a new home. I am trying to stay busy. I am still waiting on my second eye surgery. It is suppose to be soon.
I have been doing some reading, just not to good at leaving comments at the present with the two eyes not working together. I noticed it the most when I try to read.
You all have a wonderful rest of the week. Take care

Cool Weather

We started off in the 50's this morning when I got up. The sunshine will warm it up to where we should have a beautiful day. There was scattered showers yesterday, but it didn't really amount to much. They are starting to combine beans in our area so you have to watch out for the farm equipment on the highway. They get over as far as they can, but the roads aren't really wide enough. Slowly you can pass if you are careful.
You can definitely tell when kids get older and become teenagers. I don't know if I am really ready to accept that because we want to keep them a lot younger. As fast as time is flying they will be old enough to drive cars. My grandson and two of his friends talking at one of the shows we had this summer. He belongs to the same 4H Club. It will be interesting to see with him joining FFA this year in high school. The summer went much to fast to suit me.
Ah my little man with a Big horse. She wouldn't hurt him nor let him get hurt. He has to be boosted in the saddle at times but part of the time he grabs ahold of his saddle and climbs up like a monkey. His saddle looks awfully tiny on his horse. He is starting to get a little taller, but he still is little.
My daughter and grandson who is looking forward to being my baby sitter again. He makes such a good one taking really good care of me. The people have finally came to start doing the repair work from the storm damage of several months ago. As I told her, you make them do it the way it is suppose to be one because they will shortcut it if they can get away with it. Charge you for material that they don't use instead of giving credit for the material.

Well you all have a wonderful day and enjoy the sunshine.

Happenings at my House

Fall is in the air with the cooler temperatures at night warming up during the day. They are already thinking about Halloween and what they want to be. If they are going trick or treating, which isn't really that far away. The time is flying and I don't really know where it has gone.
As of the first of October, hubby will have been in the nursing home a year. A year of roller coasters for me, with job ending, going into forced retirement, eye surgery the other eye surgery being scheduled as I
write this blog. I have 20/30 vision in my left eye. Typing is a little fun so I wear my glasses with one lens popped out. I have the border on one tea towel to finish and then just one left to do on my custom order.
The picture is a little far away, but Matt is trying to get Fergie to kick the ball between two cones in a trail competition. He accomplished that and they got first place. He has been riding brother's horse since he was thrown from his. This was the last horse show of the season. I kinda miss going to watch the kids ride.
The kids carrying our flags are Miss Baylee, the queen, Miss Emmlie, the princess, and my grandson Jake. He has carried the flags several times this summer. It gives you a great sensation when you see the kids doing that.
School has been in session a month and it makes you wonder where the summer has gone. Of course, I had my oldest grandson helping me most of the summer, which was fun. I still hear about how I spoiled him. Isn't that what grandparents are suppose to do?
My youngest grandson is playing fall ball. He is going to be grandma's babysitter when I have my right eye surgery. He didn't want me to come home the last time. I told him I would be back.
We have lots of things to do this weekend. The Southside fall festival .the LeBlond carnival is here, plus music fest down town. The southside festival is full of entertainment with lots of crafts. I want to go one day, but I am not sure that I will get to do it. LeBlond is our catholic high school.
Well it is time I need to head up to see hubby for the afternoon. Take care and I will eventually get caught up with you.

Update

Fall is going to be here before we are ready with the cool weather at night and warms up in the morning.

First eye surgery was done on Monday and  I am doing fine. We aren't waiting a month to do the second eye surgery. I will find out the 17th when he checks my first eye when the next surgery will be. I will be hit and miss here in blog land and I appreciate all of the prayers.

My niece had her baby boy and other then being jaundice, he is doing good. He weighed 6 lbs and 13 oz 20 inches long. He would have been really a big baby if they had waited another month. She is still having a horrible problem with her blood pressure. They can't seem to get it under control for some reason.

I have been staying at my daughter's for a few days and will stay again when they do the second operation. It was so cute with my grandson sitting beside me wanting to know if I needed anything. He would get me water if I needed a drink or whatever. He is so special. I have to wear colored glasses whenever I am outside which is no problem. He wants me to make a towel with a train on it for his grandpa.

We had rain last night during the night. We could use some more. It is suppose to have some more. I hope everyone is doing o.k. Take care

Checkin In

Fall is in the air, football season has started for everybody whether  it is the little ones or the NFL.

Hope everyone is going to have a beautiful weekend. Mine will be very busy with baseball, horse show, and visiting the nursing home.

My youngest grandson had a make-up game last night. They won 12 to 6. They may end up playing under the lights as quick as it gets dark. He plays again tonight.

The older two's  horse show starts tonight with the games. I don't know if momma is going to let my middle one ride or not. He is wanting to so bad, but after watching him go off his horse earlier this summer, I just don't know. Of course, I want to be in both places at once. Wish I could fly maybe that would let me.

Hubby goes back to the eye doctor today. They did a laser treatment on his eye to try to help with the blurriness. I don't know if it is just down and back or if they will do some more. My cataract surgery is  Monday. Busy, Busy.

Please pray for my niece. She is in the hospital and they are bringing the baby on early. They are afraid to wait any longer. They know the baby is a little boy. I just pray that they don't wait to long before they decide to do maybe   a c-section.  They had her doing bed rest, but that wasn't helping.

Have a wonderful weekend, but I need to start my running.

HAPPY LABOR DAY

I got woke up early this morning by severe weather. We had wind clocked at 70 miles a hour, thunder, lightening, and rain. It came fast. The lightening sounded close to the house. I never can go back to sleep when that happens. It makes me relive when lightening struck our house. The only thing that saved it was we threw the breaker inside and the electricity went off outside. Back then your appliances were all depreciated, but  things didn't cost like they do today. I have a few small branches down, but other then that I am o.k.

Have any of you had problems loading your pictures on Etsy? I have tried to put my Fraidy Cat and my new Joy Christmas tea towel and they don't like the size of my pictures. I have yet to figure out exactly what size they should be.

How is your weekend going? I am going to my
da ughter's this evening for supper. We are doing some belated birthday celebration. All the family will be there excepting my Louisiana son so I will be spending time with my three grandsons.

I thought I would sleep late when I went to bed last night, but that didn't happen. I spent time with hubby yesterday and took him outside. It wasn't as hot as Friday which was triple digit for us. No air, just what little I was out was almost more then I could handle. I  hate when it is that hot even though you take precautions, you can still get to hot without realizing it. They cancelled the ball game which I was really thankful for.

Can someone tell me if you can transfer a digital pattern so that you can use it for a hand embroidery pattern? I found some I would like to use, but who has them can't answer my question.

My red Christmas Joy linen towel all done in white. I have been doing a lot of embroidering to keep my cool. I get so frustrated that I cry. Why can't people just be honest instead of giving you the run around?

Where has the summer gone? Each month seems to go faster and faster that it will be Christmas before any of us are ready. I keep wishing it would slow down just a little at least give you time to smell the roses. Some  of the trees are starting to turn, which is much to early. Does that mean we are in for a rough winter?

I know the ground hog did see his shadow. I keep teasing my hubby about that because he was born on ground hog's day.

You all have a good rest of the weekend. Take care.
